Lisa P. Brandon, FL

About Lisa

My Background in Music: My inspiration first started when I was seven years old and in second grade. I was pondering if I wanted to dedicate myself to the music field. A substitute piano teacher came in that day and played and my admiration decided me to pursue this ambition for my life work. I studied and played guitar and auto-harp as a child because of our lack of piano. The guitar was a gift and I played it for years and studied vocal music throughout school. When I was a young teenager I started playing with a group that I met in a barn and I was thrilled. Many other musicians have been part of my story and as a young person I studied privately with such greats as Michelle Barone Horsefield as well as with with studio musicians such as the Scott Steeleman Studio and ...

Lisa is an exceptional person, let alone teacher. I have had the privilege of having her as my Aunt, and writing and playing piano with her has always been a fond memory for me. She made it fun, and even when I struggled, she was able to lift my spirits with her positivity and her passion for music. As a teacher, she's able to explain things in different ways and cater to the individuality of the student, which I think is key to building a solid foundation when learning a new skill, and developing said skill over time. She has incredible drive, and I think any student who gets to work with her will excel, while having a good role model to aspire to!

Lisa is by far the most experienced and practical piano teacher I have studied under in recent times. Her teaching methods and relate-able knowledge of brain-muscle memory were keys in helping me progress.
Being a studio engineer who is learning to produce, the fundamentals which Lisa has taught me are critical. Thanks Lisa!

Great teacher. Teaching in steps and then adding more to it and repeating is the best way to go and Rufus is doing just that with me. All ready in 3rd lesson as a beginner and im getting the hand of it pretty quick. I will learn this song in no time and perhaps a few more just for the fun of it.

Chip has been an inspiration for me from the very beginning. During our initial call he assured me that anyone can learn to sing any genre they wanted. This is exactly what I needed to hear because I was very nervous about whether I could actually learn to sing. I've had four lessons with Chip and I am so very impressed with the progress we have already made. I find myself eager to grow so I can show him just how much of an impact he makes in the lives of those he teaches. He gets so excited when he see progress that it motivates you to want to rehearse more so he can see the improvement the following week as well. I am extremely grateful to have found takelessons and Chip! The added bonus is that the lessons are affordable! I would / will recommend Chip to anyone looking to grow in the areas he teaches.

I have been singing for several years (intermediate / advanced, mixed voice, pop and other genres). I have had two other voice teachers. Chip is by far the most effective. He quickly corrects mistakes in a way that is positive and easy to understand. He is not only very talented, but a good guy; he takes the pressure off any self-conscious student, which is so important. When I sing, I pretend there's a little Chip Dugan listening on my shoulder, so I am reminded to use the good techniques I learned from him

(This is Kari's daughter writing the review as I am the one receiving the lessons) Jennifer is honestly the best instructor I have ever had. She's so understanding about having to reschedule due to personal issues. She teaches in a way that's very focused for your individual learning style and she's also very honest which is always nice when you're learning a skill.
