I have been playing and teaching organ for 30 years. We work on sight reading, ear training, and theory. I have an easy style and like my students to enjoy their lessons.
So you want to play an instrument? Well I have taught for over 40 years and have developed special programs for you on piano, guitar, bass, voice and other instruments for you to learn. From easy beginner to the most advanced, I will help you to learn the songs you love! Whether we use the most modern technology in my professional recording studio or just some chords or perhaps learning to sight read something for a talent show, I can take you all the way to the highest performance level. Your goals are my goals. I have studied with some of the most famous teachers in the world, includi
ng Charlie Parker's pianist Walter Bishop Jr. and Dizzy Gillespie's musical director Mike Longo, among many others. I also have the experience of over 400 gigs a year to bring to your lesson. I have performed on piano, guitar and bass and vocals with famous stars and some really great bands which will help me answer many of your questions. I am currently still working, teaching and recording all the time. I also have a professional recording studio in my home which you can take full advantage of.
*** Lesson Details *** I want you to have fun learning and can help you with understanding and memorizing your songs. I focus on sight-reading, ear training (like jamming and playing blues) and theory. You get to choose the areas you would like to learn. Once we have established the basics including melody and chords, we will pick songs you want to learn to play with your friends or just by yourself. We can use music books or go on YouTube to learn your songs. I have helped students with auditions as well as performances. After only a few lessons you will hear and see things differently than ever before.
*** Studio Equipment *** My studio comes complete with acoustic and electric keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass and amps to play through, as well as professional microphones for recording. I use ProTools for recording which is used in every major studio around the world and it's loaded with great software for demos or mastering songs.
*** Specialties *** I teach beginner, intermediate and advanced students. I teach all styles of music including Classical, Jazz, and Rock/Pop/Blues. I also teach songwriting, performing and recording in my ProTools studio.

i was so stressed out as my son, a musician, asked me to sing with him at his wedding. yikes!! Boy, did I luck out when I randomly picked Cory for some quick singing lessons. He was so encouraging and helpful!! By the end of 5 lessons we made a recording of the song I am to sing. Well it looks like I won't humiliate myself or family. It was really amazing. He has incredible "in studio"effects and easily transferred the song to a key I could practice and actually "sing." I haven't "performed" yet (next week) but I am looking forward to it, thanks to Cory. Everyone should have at least "one" song that they can pull off for special events. Totally worth it!! Thanks to Cory I have mine...now if I could only learn to "shake my groove thang."

Cory is an excellent teacher. His lessons are a blast. He's done a great job of assessing my existing musical knowledge and goals for learning the harmonica, and customizing the lessons to allow me to learn quickly (as well as improve my grasp of theory in a fun and practical way).
I'd highly recommend him for anyone considering harmonica lessons (or lessons with one of the many other instruments he teaches).

Cory is a very inspired teacher. According to Brayden, his student, he makes the piano a very approachable skill and makes it fun as well. Cory is patient, creative and kind to the very new student and, being that he continues on his own musical journey, encourages guided expression. Brayden is learning the Blues as well as reading music!
Thank you, Cory!
Laura believes that piano lessons are beneficial for everyone, not just the most highly talented; she strives to develop in her students a life-long love and appreciation of music, as well as the knowledge and tools to make music.
Laura began piano lessons at the age of five and went on to study organ, flute, guitar, voice, and harp. She holds Bachelor’s degrees in Piano Pedagogy and Performance from Texas Woman’s University and a Master’s degree in History of Music from Yale University. She began teaching piano during college and has maintained a private music studio in Long Beach, Cal
ifornia since 1994, teaching students from age four through 84. She has served as organist and pianist for several churches and holds the Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists. In addition, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and recently retired from the spacecraft industry.
Laura is active in the Music Teachers; National Association, the Music Teachers’ Association of California, the California Association of Professional Music Teachers, the National Guild of Piano Teachers, and the American Guild of Organists, all of which provide opportunities for student performance and evaluation as well as continuing education in the latest teaching and performance techniques.
Laura adjudicates for the National Guild of Piano Teachers auditions and the Music Teachers’ Association of California Certificate of Merit examinations as well as other festivals sponsored by music teachers’ organizations.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys scuba diving (she is certified as an Assistant Instructor), rescuing and showing cats, and reading mystery novels.
*** Lesson Details *** Learning to play an instrument can be fun and exciting, but it also requires that the student practice between lessons in order to make real progress. I am very patient and encouraging. I celebrate my students’ successes and help them through any rough spots without putting them down. And hopefully we have lots of laughs along the way! In return, I ask students to attend lessons with a positive attitude, ready to participate fully in the activities.
Lessons are tailored to the student’s age, experience, and goals as much as possible, while ensuring that every student learns enough music theory (the “building blocks” of music) to enable him or her to eventually become self-sufficient at learning new music. Theory knowledge also transfers to any instruments the student may study in the future!
Depending on the age and level of the student, lessons may include technical skills (how to physically play the instrument), several pieces of music, theory drills and games, music history, ear training, improvisation, and composition. A variety of musical styles will be introduced, including folk tunes, classics, jazz, pop, rock, etc. Students who wish to learn a particular piece of music or a particular style of music are encouraged to let me know so we can work on it.
Beginning through intermediate students will have a set of lesson books suitable for their age. Each student has a theory workbook assignment to be completed between lessons. Additional supplemental music books may be assigned to provide experience in various musical styles. More advanced students will have music assigned based on goals and interests. Usually I provide the music books at the lesson and students reimburse me. I also provide an assignment notebook and various materials; students pay a small materials fee for these.
The amount of progress a student makes depends on the student’s age, natural ability, and the amount of practice done between lessons. Parents can help by ensuring the student has a quiet place to practice without distractions, a well-tuned piano or high-quality keyboard, and a regular time in the daily schedule to practice. Younger children will need help from the parent to read the assignment sheet and understand what to practice.
We have a winter studio recital in December or January and a summer recital in June each year. Occasionally we have group workshops at which the students play theory and music history games, listen to music by the composer of the month, and play informally for each other. Students also have the opportunity to participate in other recitals, festivals, contests, and evaluations sponsored by various music teachers organizations.
*** Travel Equipment *** Students must have a piano or good keyboard. I bring my metronome and supplies for writing assignments and playing theory games.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in classical music, but I also incorporate other styles of music into the lessons. I include music theory in all lessons to give a good basic understanding of the "building blocks" of music.

Laura has taken our grumpy little student and made a piano player out of him. He looks forward to his lessons and LOVES Laura. At first I thought he might appreciate a young male teacher but he took to her right away and says, "She is SO nice!". Unfortunately for her, but fortunately for us, she has to do the lessons in our crowded garage yet she never complains. Thank you, Laura!!

*** Lesson Details *** Hi. My name is Art O. and I want to see you succeed in music. I love teaching students that are excited about learning their instrument. If you are interested in voice lessons, you will learn how to expand your range, perform on stage, and how to take care of your voice. If you are taking piano lessons, you will learn how to read notes, learn basic music theory, and learn how to read chord charts. You will advance quickly and I expect to see you performing in less than six months. If you work hard and apply yourself to practice, there is no end to what you can accomplish!
*** Travel Equipment *** Music for singing, and piano. They must have a piano or keyboard to practice.

Art is the absolute BEST!
Art is a wonderful teacher!! He is enthusiastic, reliable, knowledgeable and very personable. I feel extremely fortunate to have found Art to teach my 4 year old daughter.
My daughter has been eager to start learning the piano. I needed to find someone that is able to teach at her young level and to be able to connect with her shy personality. Amazingly, Art is able to make her laugh, smile, learn and have fun all at the same time!
My daughter has fun learning and we often find her practicing on her own at the piano. Actually, she considers it playtime at the piano! She is learning simple songs after just a few lessons. She is very proud of her ability to play and is always eager to see Art so that she can learn more.
I HIGHLY recommend Art as a piano teacher. It is obvious that he loves music, this is evident in his weekly teachings. As a parent, I couldn't be happier!!! Art is setting a firm foundation for our daughter's love for music.

"I have been taking organ lessons from Mr. Raymond L. for a few months now. He has been nothing but friendly and patient. He is very understanding of dif
ficult schedules, and is very accommodating when I need to change my scheduled lesson.
Raymond L. is also an excellent teacher, requiring perfection on the practiced piece before he will allow you to move on. I appreciate this, seeing that slipshod foundations will only harm me later on. Apart from the technical books, he also assigns a variety of pieces to practice on - allowing for the practice of the different techniques, as well as keeping things fresh and interesting."
