Learning to play from a DVD or the internet can not properly teach a beginner bass player, because there should be a student/teacher interaction, one has to already know how to play in order for a DVD to be effective, and i truly believe one will still need an instructor. i enjoy teaching and playing bass. i teach (4 to 6 string), which includes learning to read bass clef notes, scales, chords, keys signatures and time on the music staff, etc., etc., i can teach tab also. i like to teach beginners to give them the correct and formal fingering techniques, then later if they like, they can go all willy nilly. i get satisfactory results. i also love playing guitar and piano, i know these instruments very well and because i want to teach as many as i can to keep real music alive, i also teach beginner guitar and piano, all the above applies to guitar and piano lessons, and music theory and ear training. i like using small i's

Fun, great attitude, amazing knowledge and appreciation of all types of music. Ive let's me know what is going well, what I need to work on, and provides gentle encouragement when it is clear I am not practicing enough to get it right. He has worked with top professionals, so he knows the theory, the music, the lifestyle and the connections. He has a great laugh.
I am a teacher (science) and I appreciate a professional yet fun approach.
I might not ever be famous, but I am having fun learning to play, and I see progress.

About Blake C.

Lowell, IN

View Full Profile

I teach all styles of steel string acoustic guitar from the basics to advanced fingerstyle techniques.

About Blake
Hi, my name is Blake. I teach guitar, piano, and singing online and at my Lowell, Indiana studio.

I have been a professional musician - session musician and teacher for 26 years. I was formally trained at the American Conservatory of Music and the Chicago Musical College, both located in Chicago. I won the Presidential Scholarship in Classical Guitar Performance at the American Conservatory of Music and another full-ride scholarship in Classical Guitar Performance to attend the Chicago Musical College.

My primary Classical Guitar Instructor at both institutions was Paul Henry. I also studied Rock Guitar with Dave Uhrich while attending both institutions and privately studied Jazz Guitar with Scott Reed. I studied voice with Audrey Evans at the American Conservatory of Music and Robert Long at the Chicago Musical College.

I h
ave participated in Classical Guitar Master Classes with:
• Hubert Kappel
• Dale Kavanagh
• Eleftheria Kotzia
• Bruce Holzman
• Stephen Aron
• Raphaella Smits
• Richard Provost
• Nicholas Goluses
• William Buonocore.

*** Lesson Details ***

I design lessons individually according to the needs and "wants" of each student. I specialize in developing and correcting technique to improve the student's overall skill. Students that dedicate the time and effort each week to practicing see rapid and sustained results.

However, if you have a busy life and merely want to learn guitar for personal enjoyment, I will design your lessons to develop your skill at a pace that works for you, which can fluctuate according to your schedule.

***Young & Special Needs Students***

I currently teach children as young as 13 years old and adults of any age. When teaching younger children and individuals with special needs, it is significantly beneficial for parents to attend each lesson - I have parent seating available. When parents attend lessons, the parent can assist the younger student while practicing during the week at home.

In my experience, the overall musical development and progress of younger students improve at an increased rate and thoroughness when parents are involved.

***Thoughts on Musical Talent***

Musical talent is a gift. However, correct technique is not easily acquired without proper instruction. Your skill level eventually plateaus, and your ability to learn and perform more complicated music is inhibited unless you have a solid foundation in music theory as it applies to your instrument(s) as well as proper technique.

I can help you build this solid foundation and will guide you through the development of musical skills; correcting flaws in technique is my specialty.

About David P.

Atlanta, GA

I have performed on and taught acoustic guitar for nearly 20 years.

I know hundreds of songs so I can always find songs which make beginners into players quickly.

I love soloing. I have several unique techniques I share with more advanced students to enable them to become stronger guitar players and overall musicians.

About David
I grew up in Birmingham, AL, Boston, MA, and Cleveland, OH, and was classically trained on violin in all three cities by members of their respective orchestras. I began studying theory in 7th grade at The Alabama School of Fine Arts. I continued theory lessons while in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music. I attended Summer music programs at Apple Hill (New Hampshire) and Sewanee (Tennessee) and have extensive experience in orchestra, quartet, and chamber group environments.

Upon graduating Emory university in 1992 I played professionally in Destin, FL as a bassist, guitarist, violinist, and vocalist. I performed as bassist and backing vocalist with "Salty Dog" for nearly a decade. I am the co-founder of the Destin, FL band "Beach Mice." We perform for several weddings, corporate events, and benefits every year. Beach
Mice is also popular on the festival circuit on the Emerald Coast.

I relocated to Atlanta in November of 2013, and currently perform weddings, and at various restaurants and events in the Atlanta area.

I have taught individuals and group lessons on violin, bass, and guitar since 1997 and for several consecutive years at Playground Music in Fort Walton Beach.

I have several videos available on YouTube, and a website which is easily located through a simple Google search.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you fulfill your musical goals and ambitions. Happy Playing - Cheers! dp

About Justice
Hi, I am Justice

Ph.D., B.M. I have been teaching music lessons to students of all ages for over 15 years, including private lessons and undergraduate courses. I thoroughly explore all aspects of each exercise or song that I present to my students, highlighting the most important elements and takeaway points. Through a combination of playing songs, music theory, ear training, and personally tailored exercises to fit your needs, we will help you cultivate your instrumental "voice" and playing style.

About Timon
Hi! I am a professional musician, songwriter, and academic living in Nashville. I have a Ph.D. and have been teaching and playing music for nearly 20 years. I teach a wide variety of methods and find what works for each of my students. All of your lessons are personally tailored just for you and your musical or learning needs. Want to hear from my current and recent students? I'm happy to provide references upon request.

Whether you want to learn some of your favorite songs, learn how to keep up with your musical friends, or explore advanced concepts in music theory and ear training, I can help you! I teach all popular and folk styles, from the classics to present day hits and top 40. Please note that I teach all skill levels in GUITAR, music theory, songwriting, and ear training. For MANDOLIN, I am only offering beginner and entry-lev
el lessons.

About me: I am a touring and studio musician as well as a songwriter. As a writer for Terrorbird Media, I write for songs for television shows, commercials, movies, and other performing artists. I also co-own and co-operate an independent record label. His skills range past Mandolin. At times he will play guitar while I play mandolin which helps me learn how to work with other instruments! You will not regret lessons with Timon!

Timon is a really great guitar teacher. I am an older student who has had some previous musical education in other instruments. Timon is able to understand my goals and customize the learning plan and approach to meet me at my current level of skills and understanding. He has an incredible knowledge of music from both a theory POV as well as different genres, styles and music eras. He is really fun to work with and and is always supportive and encouraging. I look forward each week to the learning process. I definitely believe I will be a much better, more well-rounded guitar player working with Timon than I would be with other teachers that I have met.

About Corey C.

Marietta, GA
View Full Profile

The most important thing for me when teaching lessons is helping my students feel connected to the music they are learning to create. Yes, I will teach you scales, chords, songs, riffs and all the rest, but my real goal is to teach you how to capture your instincts on the guitar and experience the thrill of that connection.

With 20+ years of professional experience, I am well versed in most genres; including Jazz, Blues, Rock, Latin and Folk.

My music has appeared on national and regional television and radio and I have performed in major venues around the country including The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Hilton Grand Ballroom in Chicago, Terminal West - Eddie’s Attic - Centennial Park in Atlanta and many more.

Depending on your skill level I will either create a custom roadmap to sharpen your playing or start you out according to my lesson plan for beginners.

I teach students ages 13 and up.

About Corey
My teaching method can be broken into two categories -

For beginners:

I will guide you through a time-tested and well-rounded method to get you up and running with the basics. I focus on fundamentals like basic scales and chords, optimal hand and finger placement, right hand picking technique etc. There is, however, plenty of room for having fun learning to play songs and riffs, because let’s be honest, that’s what we’re trying to achieve. So I always keep that in mind and use songs to teach the skills you need to learn.

By the end of your first month you will
Know what everything on your guitar is and does
Know how to change and tune your strings
Be able to play a major scale
Know how to play all of the most common major and minor chords
Be learning how to play a song we choose together

For intermediate to advanced stu

If you are interested in learning more about music theory, advanced scales, soloing/improvisation, songwriting and part writing, I am your teacher. Whether you’re working in a band and would like to develop more musical guitar parts, writing and recording or playing at local open jams, I have plenty to teach you.

We will
Have a custom tailored plan for strengthening the areas we choose to work on together
Learn how to read and transcribe music (or get better at it)
Sharpen your improvisation skills using methods and techniques I have honed over the years

For everyone:

You’ll quickly learn that I’m a pretty easy going and friendly guy. We should get along just fine. It is, however, very important to know one thing going in…

Except for family/work/health emergencies I don’t accept any student’s lack of practicing for their lesson. It may sound harsh. And it’s because it is. It’s maybe the only harsh thing about my lessons. I’m far more concerned about your development as a musician than I am about making money, and I want everyone to be clear on that from day one.

The financials are important to me, but the personal rewards are far more important.

That being said, a situation like that is very rare and typically lessons are extremely fun, challenging and rewarding!
