Graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. I begin teaching with the fundamentals of healthy technique. While I am trained in and teach bel canto/classical voice, I believe the fundamentals of healthy, relaxed singing are useful in any genre and in ensemble singing. By freeing the voice in this way: singing feels easier, the tone becomes more colorful, and the singer is able to truly express the message of the song.

I craft my lesson plan individually for the student based on their level and what they hope to get out of the lesson
Not a one size fits all technique
Some students might want more vocal.exercises and working on technique and less time on a particular song they want to learn
Other students might want to spend more time working on an individual song than working on vocal.exercises

My approach to teaching voice is grounded in the breath, body awareness, and psychological well being. One must be continuously mastering the air as the body may feel different from day to day or week to week. Progress is never linear, and sometimes it is easy for a student to feel down if they expect more of themselves or because of something personal. The journey in an instrument, as personal as the voice, is never easy. Therefore, I encourage positive self-talk in and outside of lessons. I will always ask students how the exercises feel, but also what they're thinking about when executing them. In addition, I listen for any physical tensions a student may display. My goal in teaching is to help the student rid the body and throat of any extra tension, so they can produce the freest and healthiest sounds possible. I consider my job well-done, if a student no longer needs me regularly and can become their own teacher. For younger students, a big part of my curriculum is reading music
