First thing I do before first day of class is send out a welcoming greeting via email and call a few days before first lesson. We Briefly discuss and establishing the learning goals for the course based on the visual literacy, technical, and intellectual competencies the students should achieve by the end of a period is ideal for me to design the course or update an existing course for the student's desired outcomes. The syllabus and the schedule are completed along with a comprehensive strategy for what will take place during class. Music lessons include: warm ups, exercises, technical and theory work, solfeggio (sight-singing), ear training, repertoire musical coaching, composition writing, preparation for performances and more.

Priscilla (Ms. P) is a wonderful instructor. She is fun, engaging and enthusiastic; but also a serious motivator for my preteen. I especially appreciate the weekly lesson summary provided by Ms. P that detail what was accomplished in the lesson and emphasizing what was performed particularly well by my student. I highly recommend Ms. P to anyone interested.

Great fund of knowledge, enthusiastic, makes it fun to learn, and meets you where you are musically with encouragement to practice and make progress towards your goal. Really appreciate her unique approach to settle and center initially to make for a better experience during the lesson. Highly recommend.

I find ukulele to often work better than guitar for many young students (typically years 10 and younger). When appropriate, the student can transition to guitar having increased hand strength and learned many of the concepts needed to excel. Of course, ukulele makes for a fun (and ultra-portable) instrument in its own right!

About Wes

I studied classical guitar and composition at Asbury College and later more in depth guitar studies rock, jazz, and classical at the Atlanta Institute of Music. I have been teaching steadily for the past ten years as well as spending my time with various other musical projects such as leading worshi

"Our daughter has taken classes with Nick as part of her after school program with a larger group of kids. After the COVID-19 situation she continued having classes via zoom, and she very much wanted to do so. We observed great progress in both her musical skills and her desire to continue engaging with the instrument, ukulele in this case. The transition between in person and online class went smoothly, and Nick's follow up emails made sure we are on track with topics covered as well as the homework. Nick has a lot of patience and he's ways of engaging with Students are at age appropriate.
We continued ukulele classes online in a small group (2x1) and we are absolutely happy with our decision to continue taking ukulele lessons with Nick."

"Zelda started my lesson with the very basics, which I told her I really needed to avoid my getting frustrated (as I had when I originally tried to learn the ukulele all on my own). She taught me the names of the different parts of the ukulele and how to hold my instrument. Zelda also helped me properly tune my ukulele, taught me a mnemonic phrase to remember the names of the strings and taught me finger placement for my first two chords . . . all in a half hour lesson. Now I’ll practice strumming and changing between these two chords until it becomes more natural for me and we meet again for next week’s lesson!"
