I've been learning Korean with Cheol Hong since April (it's August 30th). He is an incredibly dedicated teacher, patient, understanding and funny. He encourages me to practice my Korean every day (which I do) and he carefully reviews each submission between lessons to help me get better. I'm adopted and wanted to learn Korean so I could better connect to my Korean heritage (my grandmother is Korean) and I have learned so much during my studies. I would highly recommend Cheol Hong to anyone who is interested in learning Korean. He's the best!

My daughter's first lesson with Mr. Park was wonderful. He was thorough, engaging and gave her lots of encouragement throughout the lesson. The material he sent afterward to help with her homework between lessons will be very helpful. She can't wait for her next session with Mr. Park.
Corinne
I've been taking lessons from Mr. Park for a few months now, and I've been really enjoying them! I've taken group classes before, but this is my first 1:1 lesson experience, and Mr. Park does a great job catering and personalizing his approach to what you're interested in, even if it's not quite language related! For example, I told him I was looking to study Korean art history, and he sent me additional resources specific to that, and sometimes even devotes time to discuss different facets of it if it comes up in the lesson. He also provides a deep dive into the Sino/Native-Korean roots of different words which I personally find helpful and interesting. He is patient, encouraging, and personable, and does a fantastic job explaining things even if you don't quite get it the first time. Highly recommend!

This was my very first session and it was great. We jumped right into work after we talked about my starting level. She was very patient and very easy to talk with. I loved the fact that she broke down the sounds to me from how the tone should sound to how my face should move for certain vowels and consonants. I can't wait until second session.

Language is a fun trick. Grammar has a foundational importance to every language, however, learning the nuances of the language becomes primary, the more you learn it. You can speak a language grammatically correctly from start to end, however, what makes you sound like a native is understanding and utilizing the feelings and nuances of the particular language. I am a 1.5 generation Korean, with fluency in both Korean and English. I can help you impress the Korean folks around you before you know it!

"Youngju has been a wonderful instructor to me and my wife. We've been taking lessons with her for about 6 months now and are very pleased with the results. Every lesson has structure, but she is willing to deviate to help us with specific questions and needs. We have learned so much from her about Korean culture, food, customs, etc that we would not have learned otherwise. We appreciate her so much!"

"Sunho is amazing! I've tried to self-teach myself Korean for around two years now, but Duolingo and textbooks don't prepare you for having a conversation with a real human. Sunho was able to quickly figure out where I am in my understanding at the language and pick up where my self-teaching hit a wall. Also, the fact that she is fluent in Japanese as well as English and Korean is a surprisingly huge help to me, as I took Japanese lessons years ago and can still speak it casually. In my self-studies it just caused me to get confused and mix up Korean and Japanese vocabulary, but Sunho is able to use it as a teaching tool! She points out when a word is shared between languages or when Korean follows a similar pattern. She's very flexible and able to personalize her education!"

"Youngju is an amazing teacher!!! She is hands down the best language instructor I've ever had! The classes are always very well planned and structured. She also provides a lot of additional content beyond the textbook so it is possible to accumulate vocab quickly. She is always encouraging and patient. I feel engaged in every class; she plans many diverse activities, so I feel I am learning quickly on all aspects of the language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. She is also very flexible and willing to work with challenging schedules. I've just completed 15 lessons with her, and I cannot wait for the next class!"
