I tried to teach guitar in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play lead guitar, or how to finger pick. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.

"I studied with William for just over 2 years until an out of state move brought our lessons to an end. I was gifted several lesson with William for Christmas and really only wanted to learn a very few basics that would enable me to play some basic rhythm on an old guitar I had. That changed quickly as I started my lessons with William as he opened up an entirely new musical world to me, showing me how to hear music differently than I ever had in the past. Prior to meeting and working with William I had tried teaching myself and ended up learning bad habits, form and posture and William helped me unlearn these traits which enabled me to actually learn and have fun playing guitar. I've never met a more patient person than William and would highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning how to not only play guitar but understand music. I still practice every day and his tips and instructions still guide me in my explorations. I can't thank him enough for everything he gave me . . . it truly opened up an entirely new world and approach to music for me."

"Trevor is a skilled guitarist, well-versed in music theory, and extremely patient when teaching lessons. As somebody who’s never taken music lessons before, I was afraid he’d have me playing scales and arpeggios for the first few months. Not the case! Trevor has an answer for every question that crosses my mind and always structures our lessons around whatever excites me most. A lot of our lessons spill over onto his keyboard, where he’s very adept at explaining theory concepts. I’ve been taking lessons for with Trevor for 5 months and would recommend him to anyone!"
