Ali has had music in her life since she was in the crib. She has performed professionally in the musical theatre world and she has studied in several universities for Musical Theater, Jazz, Pop, Blues, and R&B. Since the age of sixteen, she has been selected to sing as a guest soloist for venues such as Spivey Hall, Georgia World Congress Center, and Georgia Tech Hotel Conference Center. Ali has also sung for many movies and recordings, and recently recorded a demo for David Foster, Barbra Streisand, and Andrea Bocelli and recently toured as a pianist for "The Women of Ireland." She is a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music and earned her BM in Music Business and Vocal Performance cum laude studying under Magi Scott, Jeff Ramsey, Jerome Kyles, and Carolyn Escoffrey, Donna McElroy, Livingston Taylor, Joan Lader, and Charlie Sorrent

After a few months, not only will her students have fun, but they will learn how to be a better person and musician.

I graduated from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, GA with a BA in Music Education, voice principal. During my years in public schools I taught a variety of age ranges and subjects including kindergarten general music, beginning band, high school chorus, and remedial middle school English and language arts. I have professional Yoga training and enjoy incorporating aspects of that when tutoring adult, middle school, high school, and elementary students. I also uses Yoga, brain respiration and other healing techniques in my lessons as needed.

I was a member of The William Baker Festival Singers and Summer Singers since 2003 before becoming Media Relation Coordinator in 2006 and Assistant to the Music Director in 2008 and left the group in July of 2009 to pursue other musical ventures.

My availability changes from time to time. I am generally teaching after 2:30PM Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. I follow the Gwinnett County School schedule. I will post all holidays and other conflicts in the calendar.

SUMMER 2017: I have some openings for the summer that I'm not releasing in the availability calendar. Some of these time slots are tentatively reserved for students that plan to take the summer off and return in the fall. Mary Frances teaches exclusively from her home studio.

TEACHING OVERVIEW:
Mary Frances has been teaching voice since 1987. She works with youth and adults, beginner and advanced. She helps voice students develop a natural, healthy, beautiful sound, proper placement and projectio
n of the voice for singing and speaking. Her goal is to help singers gain fulfillment and joy while improving their art. She believes music should be fun and rewarding.

VOICE STUDENTS of hers have won university placement and scholarships and have been accepted into Allstate Chorus for High School in Georgia.

She also teaches PIANO. She has taught piano for about 10 years. She studied piano privately for 10 years and had further study at Indiana University.

Students wishing to have any COMBINATION of piano, music theory, sight reading and/or vocal development can receive a program of study that meets their individual needs.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE:
Mary Frances has performed with the Southeastern Savoyards Light Opera Company, the Atlanta Opera Chorus and Studio, the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, Marietta Theater in the Square, and Neighborhood Playhouse. She has sung title roles in Patience, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. Other roles include Josephine in HMS Pinafore, the Princess in The Student Prince, and Connie in The 1940'™s Radio Hour.

She has performed many roles with Capitol City Opera Company (CCOC) including Annina in The Saint of Bleecker Street, Bastienne in Mozart's Bastien and Bastienne, Nora in Vaughan Williams' Rider's to the Sea, and Gilda in Milton Granger'™s Talk Opera. She sang for many years in CCOC's school outreach program. She has sung many concerts for CCOC as well.

Mary Frances was a soloist in Handel's Messiah for Peachtree Presbyterian Church. She has worked as the soloist at The First Church of Christ Scientist in Roswell, Georgia and at The Second Church of Christ Scientist in Sandy Springs, Georgia ( This church has now closed). She occasionally directs and sings in the choir, and substitutes for the cantorial soloist at Congregation Dor Tamid in Alpharetta, Georgia.

EDUCATION:
Mary Frances holds a bachelors degree from Indiana University School of Music in both Voice and Theater. Mary Frances was a long time student of Elizabeth Colson (now deceased) of Atlanta, Georgia. She has attended Brevard Music Center, The Georgia State Opera Workshop and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. While in Graz, Mary Frances was a finalist in the Meistersinger competition.

*LESSON DETAILS

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LESSON LENGTH:
Voice students: 30 minutes for young students up to 5th grade. 45 minutes for young students in Middle School and some 5th graders. 45 or 60 minutes preferred for high school students and adults. Piano students: 30 minutes for most beginners of any age. 45 minutes for young intermediate level and adult students.

TEACHING STYLE AND CURRICULUM:
ALL: My teaching style is relaxed yet progressive. I use positive reinforcement to encourage progress with adults and children. Students are allowed to progress at their own pace which varies with age, coordination, processing speed and previous exposure to musical education.

PIANO: I prefer the Alfred'™s Basic Piano Library series for my piano students. I find that my students learn more music theory and music reading with this series. If the student has started lessons in a different series, I can work with that as well. I have a large music library that provides a wide selection of music in addition to the Alfred books. I expect most beginning students to learn basic music reading and theory in 3 to 6 months. They should also to be able to play simple tunes in that time. I am an active professional singer, so I have a large library of vocal material at my disposal.

All piano students are REQUIRED to have an instrument to practice on at home. The piano MUST HAVE AT MINIMUM:
IF Digital - 88 full sized, weighted keys with polyphonic sound ( at least 10 keys should be able to sound at at the same time) and a sustain pedal,
OR - If Accoustic - maintained and properly tuned.

VOICE: I begin my voice lessons with breathing techniques and vocal placement using widely accepted exercises coming from a large body of sources such as:
Vaccai, professional level vocal teachers, coaches and directors that I have worked with and learned from over the last 30 years, and the writings of highly acclaimed authors in the vocal field. I also have a wide selection of art song books, oratorio, musical theatre, and opera. My background is classical and musical theatre, but I believe all styles of singing need the basic skills of breathing and vocal placement. I strive to keep voices healthy as well as find each student's most beautiful sound. Most students will see progress in breath control, range, projection and diction in 3 to 6 months.

Repertoire is chosen on an individual basis depending both physical and musical ability. Younger students and beginners will be encouraged to not push their voices with material that is too difficult for their individual abilities because singing requires a certain amount of physical endurance. My goal is to find each student's natural sound without strain for whatever style he or she
sings.

Voice students are encouraged to bring a recording device to lessons to use for later practice and study.

I specialize in providing a fun, inspiring and safe space for each student to reach their goals - whether that be for the novice singer whose been wrongfully told they shouldn't sing, the more experienced singer looking to do more with their music, or the budding songwriter, actor or speaker looking to develop the talent and drive they feel within them.

I always remember the inspiration and patience I received from my best teachers, so I strive to provide exactly that to my own students. I sing and teach most vocal styles, with the exception of opera and screamo, and utilize my studio to create a supportive, empowering experience singing, speaking, writing and recording. My original band, Danielle and The Masses, has been recording and performing live since 2001. We are endorsed by Ani Difranco, The Black Eyed Peas, The Bruce Hornsby Band, and have shared the stage with artists as Jamie Foxx, CAKE, Metric, En Vogue, David Byrne, Berlin, Margaret Cho, Cyndi Lauper, Jonatha Brooke, Beth Hart, Semi Precious Weapons and more.

I have written and performed music and voice over for Ace Ventura, Nutty Professor, VH1, various TV shows and independent documentaries, Eveoke Dance Theatre, among others, as well as having recorded eight professional CDs of various styles on various record labels.

For over ten years, my record / production company, Say It Records has been producing socially conscious music events throughout San Diego and Southern California that promote independent music, film, art, community and human rights. I also co-own Durga Sound, a teaching and production studio, with producer Alicia Champion, as well as San Diego IndieFest, a powerful community event which promotes and supports music, film, art and civic engagement.

I have a great time utilizing my contacts in the industry to help my students get work/ press / entrance into the schools of their choice, etc. For example, I'm happy to report that just last year we were able to book eight musicians on GLEE, as well as lots more in other capacities including using their music in commercials and film and helping them get cast in local theatre and accepted into arts-centered schools.

*** Lesson Details ***
I start on the first lesson by becoming clear about what the new student's goals and desires are from there, we start developing technique to achieve those goals along with having fun right away doing what they came for - singing, writing, voice over, acting or using a combination of these things be it for professional purposes or personal fulfillment. Every lesson is personally customized to meet the specific goals of each student. As a teacher, I'm encouraging and fun, passionate and positive. While I'm definitely not "strict", I do appreciate focus and drive. However, I often work with people who have special needs and are working on developing those very things. I'm especially good at helping people through progress plateaus, roadblocks, stage fright, loss/ stress. Using music as a means of release and healing - for both kids and adults - is something I do a lot of and am very comfortable with.

As far as technique is concerned, I focus on utilizing posture, correct breathing and developing relaxed, strong support, so that the muscles are developed properly. We want the voice to develop without stress, enabling the student to constantly grow while steering clear of any injury that can happen as a result of straining, not to mention other habits that manifest when we sing without proper technique.

I strongly encourage students to record their lessons on a mobile device so they can practice easily on their own, and so they eventually have a record of how far they've grown.
We mostly use tracks to develop repertoire, prepare for auditioning and performances, and to have fun singing the music that excites each student the most.

Using music, writing and voice as a means of expressing yourself, growing as a performance artist, coping in challenging times, as well as a means of going professional and earning income are all areas I specialize in. Utilizing proper technique and learning how to sing / speak safely is also an area I focus on a great deal.

Learning precisely what each student wants is the key factor in my decision on how to achieve their goals. For example, using Speech Level Singing is definitely entrenched in my teaching, but I may not highlight it as much for those who want a more classical sound.

I excel with the following: first timers, very young kids, students working through stage fright, artists looking to develop their own original project, those seeking growth in their process of writing / recording / performing, those who are interested in using music and / or writing as therapy as well as with amateurs who've always wanted to do something musical but who think they are "too old" or too "untalented/short/tall/ fill in the blank" to try. The first lesson was a gauge my interests and expectations of the private vocal lessons so we could build a understanding of how to shape my lessons to fit my personal goals and needs. We progressed to breathing exercises, facial muscle exercises, and did a quick song that I felt comfortable singing for Danielle to hear my current vocal strengths and areas to focus for improvement.

I expect attention and respect in lessons, faithful and diligent practice, careful adherence to instructions, and an “I’ll-do-my-best” attitude. If students regularly meet these expectations, then they will excel to the level that they are able. It is my joy to help students master their music, to do the best they can, and to strive for and achieve excellence.

Lastly, I want students to enjoy and appreciate their instrument, music, and music-making; and I know as as a teacher, I am very influential in making this happen. I have been teaching and singing for over 5 years. I graduated from Belmont with a BFA in musical theatre. One-to-One Acting & Voice Lessons with a Concierge Approach.

With a background of over 12 years in classical vocal and acting practice, coupled with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Belmont University, I am uniquely positioned to train students of all ages, backgrounds, and genres.

Unlike most studios, my approach focuses on the true artist development—through a consultative, one-to-one methodology. Because I understand that each artist has a different set of goals and desires—each lesson is tailor-made to fit the needs of that student.

By developing closely-knit relationships with each of my students, I am able to execute bespoke plans that focus specifically on your needs and goals rather than a typical, "one size fits all" program

In 2015, I graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical The
atre.

In May of 2015, I signed on to the Daniel Hoff Agency in New York City. Shortly after, I began working for Disney Cruise Lines as a MainStage performer until this past September (2016).

My passion for the arts goes well beyond the stage & I'm actively pursuing a film career here in Atlanta, GA. I have taught voice & acting since 2013 - including many workshops & masterclasses in Houston, Nashville, & New York

It is my belief that finding & developing your inner artist, follows sincere passion for your craft. It is this very passion for which I'm driven to develop my students' voice & acting abilities as they continue to grow.

Honestly the BEST!! I was able to purchase 10 lessons with Michael as a birthday present. I love broadway singing and am self-taught. I had basically reached the end of what I could do myself, and these lessons were incredibly helpful. I had a major breakthrough and have never been happier with my voice. He is incredibly organized, professional, and friendly. It can be nerve racking singing in front of someone, but he makes you feel comfortable and enables you to have fun and look forward to your lessons. I wish I was able to continue my lessons with Michael. I would recommend him to everyone!! Seriously the best!

Michael Karl does an amazing job of teaching me acting lessons, stage presence and voice projection. He has such a way of expressing himself to help me get into character and to feel what the character is feeling. Michael is professional, punctual and proficient!!
He listens to what your expectations are and what you hope to gain from the experience. I highly recommend Michael Karl!!!

Michael is a sweet and professional teacher. I have taken 3 vocal lessons with him so far and all of them were awesome. He could pin point my weakness and design specific vocal exercise to improve me. All of his explanations are comprehensible and his excercises are achievable. I can see my progress everyday class and I will definitely recommend him to my friends.

I am an experienced musician and performer with a variety of teaching skills gained over 20 years of study and action. Lessons in my studio are about so much more than just learning to sing a song or write music. Students are instilled with business knowledge, work ethic, and confidence so that they can truly accomplish whatever they set their minds to. We go deep and focus on how to develop new mental and physical habits that can help the student better express his/herself. About Jameson
Jameson is a recording artist, songwriter and producer. He is a graduate from the University of Oregon, and holds a BA in Theater Arts, Music and Business.

As a vocalist, Jameson sings regularly in a wide variety of styles. He has studied the Alexander Method, Body Mapping, Singing by Speaking Voice, and Vowel Isolation as well as the application of this technical work through text and emotion. He completed the classical vocal performance pedagogy and created an extended fusion technique for Gospel, Pop and Musical Theater singing which utilizes similar principals. As an actor, his training includes work with both the Stanislavski Method, Meisner Technique, Shakespeare and Lyric Performance, Clowning, Improvisation, Dance/Movement for actors, and exposure to Stella Adler, Uta Hagen and Lee Strasberg's work. Firstly, Jameson is not a voice teacher for money. I do not know anyone who genuinely loves music and singing more than him. Jameson's passion for performing is evident from the moment you meet him. His rates are very reasonable considering the top-notch quality of the lessons. He focuses on the fundamentals of releasing your authentic voice rather than specialized techniques to mimic other performers. He listens carefully to your thoughts and feelings throughout each lesson, adjusting accordingly. He challenges you to express how your body is working with your vocals after each try so that you are able to be aware of your voice outside of lessons as well. He ensures that the lesson is fun and fast-paced so that you can feel great strides in vocal improvement with each time.
Thanks to Jameson, my voice has been freed. I sing strongly, with control, and with passion any chance I get. The confidence Jameson has giving me in my singing voice is quite honestly, priceless.

"Jameson is incredible. During my junior year of high school I was not selected for the All State Choir and it devastated me. Jameson was a fairly new vocal teacher in the area and was so accommodating to me when I reached out. Under his guidance I was able to further my confidence as a singer and a performer. Jameson's focused optimism really drove me to push myself. I am so thankful for my time with him and I would recommend him to any student who is ready for the "next step" but isn't quite sure where to go."

"Before Jameson, I had tried out a few other vocal coaches that worked for semi large companies. These vocal coaches only focused on making each individual song sound good, but didn’t actually help me improve my voice at all. This wasn’t what I was looking for. However, my first lesson with Jameson was eye opening. I remember on the very first day he got me to come out of my shell and make my voice do things it hadn’t done before! I remember being amazed at the vocal range that Jameson helped me uncover and the different ways to help give my breath support; allowing my vocal chords to resonate smoothly and on key. Not only did he give me coaching in both pop and classical, but he gave me confidence in my voice and many opportunities to showcase what I had learned.
Other than the concerts that Jameson sets up himself, he also gave me an opportunity to try out for The Voice. This experience was one of a kind! It was a several day experience where me and a select few other people came to the Tabor Studio and worked on our songs together with multiple coaches to critique our voices so that we would improve for the following day when we actually got to professionally record the songs that we practiced to send to the voice! In addition to this, Jameson helped me place top 10 in the final for Portland Teen Idol, which hosted a few hundred singers. All in all, I regret nothing about my relationship with Jameson. If someone was looking for a vocal coach, Jameson Tabor would be the first person that I would point to."

Hello! My name is Taylor! I currently teach after-school keyboard classes at Fulton/Cobb county schools through FineArtsMatters. I was a piano student (just like you!) for twelve whole years! I was also in wind ensembles, and marching bands, as a tuba-ist and clarinetist up until 2016. Thanks to my wonderful teachers, including Susan Naylor from Reinhardt University, I hope that I am ready to help guide you on your own musical journey! About Leigh
Leigh, a soprano residing in the DMV area, graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance from Virginia Commonwealth University, she has participated in masterclassesv with artists such as Arianna Zukerman and Ann Baltz and performed in many productions. Her most recent role was as Hermia in A Midsummer Nights Dream with Shakespeare Opera Theater in Manassas.

During her time at VCU, Leigh was a featured soloist with The VCU Women's Choir and the Commonwealth Singers on multiple occations. She was also featured in the roles of: Gianetta (The Gondoliers), Jou-Jou (The Merry Widow) and Papagena (The Magic Flute).

During her time at school she started teaching voice lessons in Richmond VA. Since then, she has taught students from all different ages and abilities. She loves how a voice lesson can turn any kind of day into an
amazing one. The ability to make a student smile through music when something finally clicks or they get to sing their favorite song is the most amazing feeling.

This year, along with a personal recital and volunteer work, Leigh was contracted to sing as the mezzo soprano soloist in Saint-Saens Noel. In the year to come she will be studying with Arianna Zukerman, building her personal voice studio and preparing for her busy summer. She will be singing in New York City as the Sleep Fairy and the Gretel understudy with the Manhattan Opera Studio where she will also perform an aria and opera scenes concert at Carnegie Hall. Following that she will travel to Tuscany to sing and study with Bel Canto in Tuscany!

Online lessons can get confusing and even though the connection can get wonky Leigh was really great about it. If something made the lesson run longer, she would give me extra time to make up for connection problems. Aside from being really great about working with you, she also knows her stuff. From how to sing freely to great song choices, she really knows a lot.

What a joy Leigh is! She’s great at simplifying things so that a beginner can pick them up. It was so nice to be able to learn and get positive encouragement. I left every lesson feeling like I was better .
