The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec
tronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

Julie is a wonderful instructor! She is engaging and thoughtful, and she provides clear instructions and advice. She took time to ask me my specific goals for my first lesson, and after just one class, I already feel much more confident in my photography skills! I am a super beginner, and am looking forward to continuing to work with Julie to improve my skills.

Wonderful instructor, willing to repeat himself and go back a few steps to reinforce a prior example. My son was hesitant to try this and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to learn when someone is working with you one on one. :)

About Joe
I am a writing educator with 15 years of experience; I've taught in public schools, community colleges, universities, for tutoring companies, and privately. Every place tackles language arts test-taking in its own way and that makes me familiar with a very diverse range of strategies. The SAT has changed and other tests will soon follow suit, but I can provide an adaptive, focused curriculum, tailored for getting you the score you're looking for, no matter the test.

For those not looking for help with testing, I also offer regular writing tutoring for schoolwork and college essays, writing help for college students, and services for professionals, including resume review, cover letter drafting, and other business communications services.

For families, study buddies, or peer groups, I can accommodate up to three students at a time,
working on individual tasks.

I serve the entire ITP area and several OTP communities; I'm willing to travel to you, and we can meet in whatever setting is most convenient, including public areas such as libraries and coffee shops. Online tutoring is also available and I have additional times available for such sessions.

About Jessica
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Clarinet Performance from Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and am working toward a Master of Teaching in Mathematics at University of Virginia in Charlottesville. I have been teaching and tutoring for about 7 years now, and I guess something is going right in our sessions; all my students are highly successful, I'm such a proud teacher. I would love for your student to be one of them! Please do not hesitate to reach out even if it's just to ask questions; I would love to hear from you!!

I am qualified to teach/tutor such subjects as mathematics (any through calculus; anything beyond that I would need to review and have no trouble doing so), also writing, chemistry, physics, music theory, general music, and SAT prep (predominantly mathematics). I have a private piano and clarinet studio, and though space
is limited, I would love for you to join it.

***It is worth mentioning that I currently live in Charlottesville as I finish up the coursework in my program. Unfortunately because of that, I can only accept students virtually if you're not local for me. I do have much experience with virtual lessons, so please do not hesitate to try it out. I will be moving back to Northern Virginia one year from now to do my student-teaching, so in-person lessons can happen if you can be patient and bear with me. Again, I would love to hear from you and hope to get the chance to work with your student.
