About Richard

I have studied, performed and taught music for over 30 years. Accordion was my first instrument at age 7 which was a great introduction to the keyboard, melody and harmony. That was followed by guitar and other stringed instruments (Banjo, Ukulele) as well as drums. I studied with great teachers

It's nice having a pro like Richard customize the lessons because he creates a greater understanding of music theory as a whole and then can bring it back down to a specific application like practicing scales with a clawhammer technique. I can tell he's gradually moving me along to meet my personal goals. You can't get that out of a book or a video.

I had a wonderful first lesson with Richard. It was fun and he taught me exercises that I can actually do and really make music right off the bat. I was scared that I'd be overwhelmed and not be able to do anything right but Richard broke things down into small steps that were easy to follow. I'm really looking forward to my next lesson. Thanks Richard!

Very patient, personable, professional, and purposeful. Each lesson is packed full of building blocks for dexterity and familiarity with the instrument.

Find the voice of any drum and make it sing. Students of every level benefit from rhythmic breath and speaking the words of the rhythms. Beginners will find the sounds of the drum, learn the language used to explain patterns, and quickly memorize rhythms by name. Everybody learns differently, we will write, speak, feel, or clown around until you fully grasp the rhythm. Intermediate and advanced students will benefit from a variety of techniques from around the world to employ to make even familiar patterns sound fresh.

About Peter

I am a student of various great drum teachers from many backgrounds. Experienced players enjoy jamming with me, but I have been told that I am especially gifted at helping beginners feel comfortable finding rhythms and sounds out of any instrument, including the human body. Adam is an excellent teacher! I have always been intimidated by playing the drum set, but Adam was so good at explaining each step that it felt almost simple. After just a few lessons I was able to figure out some songs on my own, and felt confident enough to play with friends. Thank, Adam!

I have a background in fundamental rhythm, rather than teaching the student to simply play, I teach them to read and write their own rhythms and drum beats in a fun and hands-on manner using methods that music teachers around the country use in their classrooms. Furthermore, I have years of experience teaching children as young as 4 years old from their very first lesson. I’ve developed my own method for children to read drum music using simple and an easy to understand rhythmic language.

Hello Students,
I have been playing most of my life. I started playing professionally at 17, playing with a number of professional bands playing all over Michigan. I have been teaching drum students since the age of 19, teaching well over 500 students to date.

Teaching students has been one of my passions with music. I hope to motivate my students to learn to play and love the drums as much as I do.

I work with each student on an individual basis to help them learn and understand drumming technique using books and techniques that will help to develop instinctive skills and ear technique.

I work with snare drum / rudimental technique with all my students and drum set technique, as most students want to learn how to play a drum set. Many of my students are in school band learning snare drum and percussion technique. Basic snare drum technique is important for any student to master and understand to learn to apply to snare drum and drum set technique.

"I have been working with Brandon since late November 2019. I am new to drumming and having a drum teacher who is willing to come to your house to teach you on YOUR equipment. I find this to be not just convenient, but very helpful in that I find I can retain what Brandon is teaching me each lesson. Brandon is very friendly, capable and knowledgable. He has patience and never ever gets frustrated, in fact his positive reenforcement builds my confidence and keeps me engaged to continue to learn. As many folks new to drumming want to do, I wanted to 'just learn songs' and while Brandon would have done this he explained the foundational need to get the sticking, timing and coordination foundation so that we can get to my goals!

I recommend Brandon very highly. He is a nice person as well as great drum teacher. He will NOT disappoint!"

Luke is incredibly creative & has a fantastic sense of humor which makes for a very interesting teacher that can get & hold the attention of even the very youngest students. His curriculum and teaching style are also highly adaptable, whether you want to learn "by the book" and learn strict technique and theory, or if you want to purely have fun and learn a few songs. "I took up drums 2 years ago in my early 40's. Francisco was my first drum teacher, and he patiently introduced me to the instrument, exposed me to many different musical concepts and traditions, and really increased my interest in music and drumming. He is an amazing player, and I learned much from watching him play in lessons and also live. Unfortunately he moved from Boston to CA, which was my loss.I reccommend him without reservation."

Beginning drummers often have questions about how to hold drum sticks. Traditional grip or matched grip, which one is better?
