About Casey
While still in high school, three of my songs were featured on National Public Radio and I was able to play at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. I next went to school at App State and then graduated from the Atlanta Institute of Music and headlined the graduation concert! My grad school was moving around Atlanta, Savannah, Athens, Nashville, New York and Chicago as a hired guitarist, and teaching in music stores. I played in a wide range of styles and roles (engineer, promoter, musical director, band leader etc) and around 300 gigs!

I took a break last year to finish 2 books I had bounci
ng around in my head and hard drive and self published them last year! The books compliment lessons so our time is spent showing you how to play and playing together, not you looking at me, while I draw a chord. The books have tab with rhythm, chord/scale diagrams and a written description of each topic like an encyclopedia. They also show you how music fits together and give you a solid foundation to build on and music ideas you can use.

As a performer in Savannah, Georgia, my band received the "Best Blues Band" award from Connect Magazine in 2007. I'm currently endorsing Curt Mangan Strings and Gadow Guitars because they're awesome!!!

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching style is all about building on what you already know and pointing out what you're doing right. I'm a very laid back person and love to hear and learn new music so I try to incorporate the music you want to learn as much as possible. Above all else I try to teach you how to practice so that you get the most out of your guitar when you're not in your lesson.

*** Studio Equipment ***
recording studio, amps, music stand chairs...has a dog.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Travel amp, acoustic or electric, cables.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in teaching theory, technique, performance and improvisation through song so you don't feel like you're working. I am fluent in and have performed these styles on stage: rock, jazz, blues, pop, metal, show tunes, surf, funk, jam, and R&B. I like it all! I teach you to have a solid foundation and how to get songs performance ready. I also try to encourage you to write your own music and can show you some ways to be more creative and get more mileage out of some of the things you already know.

Mark is intuitive, talented and quite smart. He assessed my skill level and worked patiently to teach me new finger picking techniques. I thoroughly enjoyed my lesson. I learned so many new things and I cannot wait to go practice my guitar.

Mark played for my wedding, and I was incredibly impressed. I had certain musical portions of my wedding pre-arranged, but those plans ended up falling apart. Mark was able to pick up and play beautiful music right when I needed him to. His flexibility and willingness to go the extra mile helped make my wedding as successful as it was! He really saved the day, and I'm so thankful he was there! If I couldn't have him at other future events, I would be happy to take any of his students because I know they would have learned from one of the best.

About Bethany
I am a graduate of Piedmont College, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors in Church Music and a Masters of Arts in Music Education. I majored in voice and minored in piano, studying voice with Barbara Steinhaus. I have taught both in the classroom and privately in the metro Atlanta area for 10 years.

While pursuing my degrees, I accompanied various ensembles and students at Piedmont and was a member of the elite 9-member a cappella group, Cantabile. I am currently a professional singer and pianist in the Atlanta area, singing and playing various genres including classical, worship, p
op, and jazz.

I teach various genres of music—everything from classical to popular music. I believe that teaching multiple genres enables students to become well-rounded musicians and learn to express themselves in a variety of ways. I believe that aural skills and the ability to read music help singers and instrumentalists alike to be the best musicians they can be.

*If you don't see your available time slot, just let me know and I'll see what I can do to accommodate your schedule!
