My name is Anastasiia and I am a Russian mezzo-soprano pursuing a masters degree at the Curtis Institute of Music.
I believe that everyone has the ability to discover the full potential of their voice. I will teach you the foundations of vocal technique to achieve full freedom of your sound to get the most natural vibration and color of your personal voice. We will focus on exercises that will prioritize and preserve the health of your voice through core training, breath exercises and vowel placement.Let’s build you a healthy instrument so you can enjoy singing as much as I do!

With beginners I will also focus on ear training and ways to learn music more efficiently.

Whether you are a beginner wanting to know the basics of healthy vocal production, an experienced singer looking for audition preparation, or somewhere in between, I can help you reach your fullest potential! I have had training in classical, musical theatre, jazz, and pop styles, and received my undergraduate degree in vocal performance and music education. In other words, I studied how to sing, and how to help others do the same! I have also applied this education for the past three years as a professional musician and private voice teacher. I focus on helping you understand singing on an anatomical level, as well as learning the nuances of different genres of music. I can't wait to work with you!

With singing, I begin with a focus on healthy sound production and being able to produce a full singing tone that does not strain the voice. During these early stages, I help the students find their full singing voice while also giving them the time and space to explore and grow at their own pace - especially since singing in front of a teacher can be intimidating for anybody.

After laying down the foundation of healthy voice production and being able to match pitch and learn melodies with some ease, I tailor my curriculum and repertoire to match a student's interests and goals.

Singing should be as easygoing and fun as an exciting conversation! Communication is key! Once the building blocks are in place, my students are free to express themselves in any genre of music with a wide range of emotions! From the very first lesson, I create a safe, nurturing environment where the exploration of discovering my student's true voice becomes effortless and natural! I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge.

I began singing when I was five years old in church. I continued singing exclusively inspirational music until I was a teenager. At that time, in addition to the second soprano part I sang in a five-part harmony
a Capella (without instrumental accompaniment) Gospel group, I also sang in a couple of bands (Rhythm and Blues, and Jazz). My undergraduate studies were completed at the American University, where I majored in Communications (B.A.), and minored in Music, voice being my instrument.
