Reading the detailed "About" section below should give an aspiring singer all the information relevant as to how and what I teach, with regard to vocal performance and technique. As a lover of Broadway, then and now, I incorporate my knowledge of what is necessary to perfect the craft of being a confident singer on a theater stage. To capsulize my mission statement as an instructor: You WILL be a better vocalist AND performer. THIS I GUARANTEE!!
I have been active in the entertainment industry since the age of 12, when I gave my first professional performance. Prior to that I was already being introduced to music with years of guitar, and then vocal instruction. I do not remember a time of my life when I was not singing somewhere; in the house, in the yard, in the classroom. That is perhaps why I identify so well with the young people who gather so much enjoyment from "just singing" at every opportunity. I studied professionally for over 10 years with renown soprano and voice teacher Sylvia Jensen, who was instrumental in the enhancement of my vocal knowledge and technique. She is now the Director of Education for the Miss Ohio pageants of the Miss America competitions, elevating many young ladies to the national spotlight. At age 14, I auditioned for, and was added to cast of a
network television variety program, "The Gene Carroll Show", that was a television institution for over 30 years in the Midwest. I was a featured performer on that program for over 7 years, all the while perfecting the art of "playing to a camera." This experience was invaluable, and the knowledge I gathered is now included in my curriculum. I also began performing a solo act in the nightclub circuit at the age of 15, performing up and down the "north coast" from Cleveland, OH, (my home), to Erie. PA. At a very young age, I learned the difficult art of choosing musical material and pacing a show; also adapting to performing under a myriad of conditions with a vast array of musical accompaniment. After graduating college with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing, I assembled my own band, and took to the road. That experience eventually brought the act to Las Vegas in 1982. Over the years my show has been a staple in major casino cabarets in Las Vegas, and all over Nevada. Since my first engagement at The Landmark Hotel in the early 1980's, I have literally been up and down the famed Las Vegas Strip many times over. The Desert Inn, The Dunes, The Stardust, The Maxim, The Tropicana, New York New York, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Bally's, The Flamingo, The Imperial Palace, The Four Queens, The Golden Nugget, The Fremont, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and a three year engagement at The Riviera. My show is truly comprised of musical variety; classics, show tunes, jazz, rock, blues, r&b, country. Even a presentation of "Music of the Night" from Phantom of the Opera, that I perform in full costume. It is this ability to successfully deliver an extensive repertoire that I am enthusiastic about passing along to the next generation of entertainers.
I have been truly blessed in my career to have experienced so many highlights; too many to document. From winning an understudy roll in the Broadway Musical "Platinum" starring Hollywood actress Alexis Smith, to performing our National Anthem at events ranging from Major League Baseball to ESPN Boxing to receptions for major dignitaries, to recording 7 albums and a full-length video, to being asked to perform for Mr. Frank Sinatra at the Frank Sinatra Celebrity Golf Tournament, I have lived a full life on stage, learning and absorbing every bit of knowledge gathered along the way. Now it is my desire to escalate my status as an educator to a more "one on one" experience; availing myself the opportunity to pass along that wealth of knowledge to individual students who aspire to enjoy the entertainment profession as I have, providing them with the skills needed to successfully compete. Or, should it be their choice not to pursue entertainment as a vocation, to gain a working understanding of all facets of their instrument so as to gain a better appreciation of music. Whatever the goal of the student, I feel that I am equipped to provide them with the tools needed to achieve that goal.
*** Lesson Details *** Content of Sessions
Generally, the first 10-15 minutes of each lesson will be focused on vocal warm up and exercise. (For guitar students, we will review the previous week's assignment). For Vocal Students, it is understood that the voice mechanism is made up of muscles, and as an athlete prepares for a sporting event, a singer must prepare to vocalize. It is at this time in our lesson when the student will develop good habits of voice maintenance, which will serve them well throughout their careers. The proper care and preservation of the vocal unit cannot be stressed enough, especially for pubescent and pre-pubescent students. Vocal chords in a developmental stage are most susceptible to damage, and because they are particularly sensitive, they must be handled with care. Our warm up regimen is designed to strengthen as well as preserve the singing voice.
I am not an advocate of getting too involved and "bogged down" in the technical aspects of singing, especially with the young students, and especially early in our program. This is not to say that breath control, tonality, pitch, etc. are not vital to good singing, because these workings are ESSENTIAL, and their application will certainly be incorporated into our studies. Some instructors, on occasion, have a tendency to lose sight of the fact that much to do with singing happens "naturally", and too much focus on the "technical" can actually be inhibiting. This can alter a beautiful, natural tone into one that is unnatural and contrived.
I adhere to the philosophy that above all else, SINGERS WANT TO SING SONGS, and musicians-in-training want to play music. That is our focus, and all of our training is conceived with that objective in mind. All the technical knowledge and coaching serves no purpose without practical application. It is my belief that the most significant progress occurs when a vocalist is singing a song.
Nearly every element of instruction can be utilized in the performance of one song. This is why the majority of our session time will be spent "in song". For the very young student, we will concentrate our efforts with the students choices of favorite and familiar songs. The older students will undoubtedly have favorite songs, styles and artists. Special attention will be paid to the genre most enjoyed by the student, but diversity will be emphasized as well, and a variety of genres will be unpacked and explored. I believe that whatever a student's musical goals and aspirations, it is in their best interest to gain knowledge and insight in all facets of music, singing, and performance.
The most vital pre-requisite for any student is their enthusiasm. My ambition will be to harness that enthusiasm and channel it productively through stimulating instruction. Our sessions will be informative and educational, but always predicated upon "having fun with music".
I am proud to feature a curriculum that emphasizes the entertainment aspect of singing as well as the technical; created to benefit all ages and experience levels, from beginner to seasoned professional. After just weeks of my "Triple Threat Training" a student will begin to see astounding results: vocally, musically, and in the art of performance. I am excited to share my knowledge with you. Let's get started!
***Performance Opportunities For Students*** I am very proud to share a long time friendship and association with Mr. Frank La Spina and his organization The Youth Musical Scholarship Foundation. Together we host shows and events that feature the most gifted and promising students of all ages in venues ranging from The Italian-American Club Showroom to the fabulous Smith Center For the Performing Arts. Many of my students have been featured in their OWN shows!! If you desire to hone your craft in front of audience in a quality venue, I can and WILL make that happen!!
*** Studio Equipment *** My studio is equipped with a full vocal sound system with microphones that I utilize to teach the valuable art of mic technique. Young students enjoy using the mics and hearing themselves sing and perform. Since our lessons are predicated on enjoying the art of singing, this opportunity has proven invaluable. For the advanced performer, studying all aspects of amplification and what a singer should know about their stage sound is a part of our educational curriculum. My studio is furnished with the equipment that is essential to mastering that knowledge. Since the practical aspect of my course is based on singing songs, I provide all the latest technology required to allow my students the opportunity to sing the songs of their choosing, with and without the lead vocal tracks. I feel that when students are singing their favorite songs, it offers me the greatest teaching opportunities. I make certain the every musical genre can be represented, and feel I have the knowledge and ability to guide the student is whatever their musical tastes. My studio is also equipped with piano (for vocal exercises), and guitars, which gives me opportunity to accompany my students when the musical moment is appropriate. Be assured that all the technology I need to fulfill the educational needs of my students is but a step away!! I AM ESPECIALLY EXCITED ABOUT MY STUDENTS BEING AFFORDED THE OPPORTUNITY TO RECORD THEIR MUSIC. My studio is equipped with full-service, state-of-the-art digital recording equipment. Many of my students have recorded full length albums. This not only provides an extraordinary teaching tool, but also a wonderful memory for student's family and friends!!
Such a confidence boost. Glenn helps you know what you’re already doing well, as well as what to improve on.
December 7, 2018
Glenn is amazing! He listened to me sing a few songs and gave me two tips that completely improved my vocal performance! Highly, highly recommended if you want to sing and perform better, and if you truly want to profoundly impact the listener to a higher degree !
Hello! Singing in my studio is a blast! It's fun, exploratory, expressionary, and therapeautic. We work on real technique for the whole body, breathing, relaxation of mind, body, muscles and emotions. We work on music that is for lesson purposes as well as music that you as the student want to sing and work on. Whether it's songs you just love and want to sing and work on, or you have an audition or event to prepare for, or you have other musical goals for yourself, there is a place for all of that in my studio. I also ensure that my singers are able to understand the language of the music itself...the tempo, rhythm, notes, and other markings so that you can pick up any song and be able to figure out new melodies and rhythms on your own.
Hello! My name is Shannon and I absolutely love music! Teaching is a huge passion of mine along with performing and sharing music in service opportunities. I am the oldest of 4 children with 2 awesome parents and I come from a rich heritage of music, theatre, performing and culture. I am married to an amazing man and we have two fur-babies. I am very involved in leadership with my church and love serving the Lord and I am honored to be entrusted with this gift of music to share.
I have been teaching Voice and beginning piano for the past 14 years and I have loved every minute of it. I have worked with students in Voice ranging from 11-Adults, each with different goals, dreams and songs. With piano students, I work with ages 6-Adult, and again, each comes with their own ideas, goals, and songs to work on. I have also done small group s
inging classes for 8-10 year olds who are just a bit too young for the more intensive private vocal training, as well as for teenagers who just love performing in a group setting and supporting and being supported by each other. I don't do recitals. We don't call them that. I host open mics and my students are all invited to participate. I always participate to be a good example to my students, be vulnerable and support them and I usually invite other professional musicians to share music as well. They appreciate the opportunity to practice their craft and they are a wonderful inspiration to the younger musicians who watch them. I am a process/experiential/development -based teacher. I taught Kindermusik for many years in California, then continued in Africa for 3 years and I now teach two young children's classes from my private studio...one for 3.5/4 year olds and one for 5 year olds. These are an absolute blast! Because of the healing I have personally experienced through music and the way I have seen it heal and help others, I am working towards my Masters in Music Therapy. Whenever I host a concert, it almost always turns into a benefit. Even when I charge an entrance fee, I still love highlighting the needs in the community or in other parts of the world that we can contribute to. So, when you work with me, these are things that can be a part of your experience and will be if you would like. But, at the same time, if a student prefers that music lessons are just a quiet and personal thing for themselves to enjoy, process, decompress from the world with, I welcome that completely and that's the magic that happens.
Help prepare students with auditions material for Broadway Plays and Theatre.

LOCATION: Mary Frances teaches exclusively from her home studio.
TEACHING OVERVIEW: Mary Frances has been teaching voice since 1987. She works with youth and adults, beginner and advanced. She helps voice students develop a natural, healthy, beautiful sound, proper placement and projection of the voice for singing and speaking. Her goal is to help singers gain fulfillment and joy while improving their art. She believes music should be fun and rewarding.
VOICE STUDENTS of hers have won university placement and scholarships and have been accepted into Allstate Chorus for High School
She also teaches PIANO. She has taught piano for about 10 years. She studied piano privately for 10 years and had further study at Indiana University.
Students wishing to have any COMBINATION of piano, music theory, sight reading and/or vocal development can receive a program of study that meets their individual needs.
PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE: Mary Frances has performed with the Southeastern Savoyards Light Opera Company, the Atlanta Opera Chorus and Studio, the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, Marietta Theater in the Square, and Neighborhood Playhouse. She has sung title roles in Patience, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. Other roles include Josephine in HMS Pinafore, the Princess in The Student Prince, and Connie in The 1940's Radio Hour.
She has performed many roles with Capitol City Opera Company (CCOC) including Annina in The Saint of Bleecker Street, Bastienne in Mozart's Bastien and Bastienne, Nora in Vaughan Williams' Rider's to the Sea, and Gilda in Milton Granger's Talk Opera. She sang for many years in CCOC's school outreach program. She has sung many concerts for CCOC as well.
Mary Frances was a soloist in Handel's Messiah for Peachtree Presbyterian Church. She has worked as the soloist at The First Church of Christ Scientist in Roswell, Georgia and at The Second Church of Christ Scientist in Sandy Springs, Georgia ( This church has now closed). She occasionally directs and sings in the choir, and substitutes for the cantorial soloist at Congregation Dor Tamid in Alpharetta, Georgia.
EDUCATION: Mary Frances holds a bachelors degree from Indiana University School of Music in both Voice and Theater. Mary Frances was a long time student of the late Elizabeth Nohe Colson of Atlanta, Georgia. She has attended Brevard Music Center, The Georgia State Opera Workshop and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. While in Graz, Mary Frances was a finalist in the Meistersinger competition.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LESSON LENGTH: 30-minutes for beginning adults and elementary students up to 5th grade. 45-minutes for intermediate adults and students 5th to 8th grade. 60-minute lessons for more advanced students high school and up.
TEACHING STYLE AND CURRICULUM: ALL: My teaching style is relaxed and nurturing I use positive reinforcement to encourage progress with adults and children. Students are allowed to progress at their own pace.
PIANO: I prefer the Alfred's Basic Piano Library series for my piano students. I find that my students learn more music theory and music reading with this series. If the student has started lessons in a different series, I can work with that as well. I have a large music library that provides a wide selection of music in addition to the Alfred books. I expect most beginning students to learn basic music reading and theory in 3 to 6 months. They should also to be able to play simple tunes in that time. I am an active professional singer, so I have a large library of vocal material at my disposal.
All piano students are REQUIRED to have an instrument to practice on at home. The piano MUST HAVE AT MINIMUM: IF Digital - 88 full sized, weighted keys with polyphonic sound ( at least 10 keys should be able to sound at at the same time) and a sustain pedal, OR - If Accoustic - maintained and properly tuned.
VOICE: I begin my voice lessons with breathing techniques and vocal placement using widely accepted exercises coming from a large body of sources such as: Vaccai, professional level vocal teachers, coaches and directors that I have worked with and learned from over the last 30 years, and the writings of highly acclaimed authors in the vocal field. I also have a wide selection of art song books, oratorio, musical theatre, and opera. My background is classical and musical theatre, but I believe all styles of singing need the basic skills of breathing and vocal placement. I strive to keep voices healthy as well as find each student's most beautiful sound. Most students will see progress in breath control, range, projection and diction in 3 to 6 months.
Repertoire is chosen on an individual basis. Younger students and beginners will be encouraged to not push their voices with material that is too difficult for their individual abilities because singing requires a certain amount of physical endurance. My goal is to find each student's natural sound for whatever style he or she sings.
Voice students are encouraged to bring a recording device to lessons to use for later practice and study.
STUDIO EQUIPMENT AND LIBRARY: Piano, Computer with Internet Access, Library of Music and Reference Materials (Sample Listing): Alfred's Basic Piano Library Books Twenty-Four Italian Songs and Arias, Medium High and Medium Low Voice; Schirmer Sing at First Sight; Alfred Basics of Singing by Jan Schmidt; Schirmer Many Soprano Collections of Arias, Oratorio, Sacred, and Art Songs from Schirmer Several Broadway Music Collections from Hal Leonard Discover Your Voice by Oren Brown Training the Speaking Voice by Virgil Anderson International Phonetic Alphabet for Singers by Wall Dynamics of the Singing Voice by Meribeth Bunch Classical Singer Magazine Subscription Journal of Singing, The Official Journal of the National Association of Teachers of Singing,Inc.Subscription

I have been literally to 4 youtube teachers and though I have nothing bad to say about any of them, i know that I need a long term teacher that I can see myself growing with as a singer. Our personalities just meshed. She knows how to make one feel comfortable. She is very encouraging to students with zero self confidence like me. I think I have found the teacher I’ve been looking for in Elena! i’m excited to see what she can do to transform my voice. Her resume as well as her reviews( students spoke highly of her character) are what stood out for me out of thousands of teachers online! It is also important that I love to listen to my teacher’s voice and i love her voice😊
April 5, 2018
Elena was great! She helped me start new ways to sing. I have sung for years, but these news ideas had immediate results!😊
My teaching curriculum emphasizes on proper breathing and vocal placement to ensure vocal improvement within a few weeks of lessons. All of these terms may sound scary, but I believe that singing should be a joyful experience and one that will be a positive change in your life and those around you. I teach all genres of music and specialize in audition preparation. I want my students to reach their musical potential and aspirations while having a blast.
I am a professional singer, pianist, songwriter, and recording artist. I graduated from Broward College with an Associates Degree in Music Technology and dual -majoring in Vocal Performance. My primary instruments are Voice and Piano, but I also play guitar and trumpet.
All of my students can expect to improve weekly in their technique and skill level. I teach students to release built up tension and apply fundamental techniques by relaxing and enjoying their time practicing or performing. I can help any student to sing or play with freedom, confidence, and expression.
I teach students of all different ages and experience levels. I studied classical piano and voice for 4 years. I can teach students to excel in reading music, sight-reading, ear training, music theory, and performance and technique in not just classical music, but all
genres of music.
As a professional recording artist I frequently take trips to Atlanta and New York for recording and meeting with record labels. I have performed along side bands such as We The Kings, Plaid Brixx, and I have many musical connections such as Jadyn Maria, Katy Perry, Tiyon Christian, D. Smith, and more. I don't only teach my students, I mentor them, create a lasting friendship and help them reach their full potential and level of excellence.
My personal passion is contemporary music but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
I am a 60 year old man and so, one can imagine my initial reluctance to take up singing lessons at this age. But after the first 2 sessions with Bebé, I knew I was in the right hands. She is every bit the professional that you can trust to do a great job. I was extremely impressed, not only with her amazing vocal talents, but also with her technical skills, knowledge and experience. Bebé assessed my abilities, and set to work quickly and efficiently, and that's where I feel she truly excels. Bebé was patient, took her time to understand my objectives and capabilities, and pushed me just enough to keep gaining my confidence. I only had 5 lessons at this point, and I can already hear and feel the progress. The classes were fun, but Bebé takes her work very seriously, as any true professional would. I'm looking forward to my next sessions.

Stephanie is absolutely amazing!!!! I originally went to school for music, but have not sung in a very long time (talking years) and had forgotten most of what I had learned. I was so happy to find Stephanie to help me brush up (a lot)! She showed so much patience and so much knowledge. Thank you so much for an amazing lesson!! I can't wait until my next lesson with you!

Stephanie is a fun, knowledgeable and experienced voice teacher. She has given me a number of voice lessons and helped me greatly with my confidence and vocal range. "Erica's enthusiasm for show music is so contagious! I enjoy working with her so much, and I have learned so much from her. I recently attended one of her
performances, and she was dynamite!"
"I received classes from Rosita a couple years ago. Her methods that she has taught me followed me. Now that I live in New York her voice is still in my he
ad. I know that sounds a little creepy but it's like having your mom's voice in your head before you do something. Through her classes I'm definitely more confident not only in singing but in myself. Out of all the teachers I have had and if you live in LA she is the only one I will recommend. Book her now! She teaches more than just singing, she teaches you how to be you and not be scared about it! Thanks Rosita for everything!!!!"
"Lauren is, by far, the best voice teacher I've ever worked with. My voice improved significantly in just one lesson. Her understanding of the voice, and h
er ability to help a student achieve a professional sound is astounding!"
"Laura is a great music teacher! She was my voice teacher before she went to grad school and I learned a lot from her. Her approach to singing is wonderful
(she doesn't only teach you how to sound good but also how to act through songs) and it's really important especially if you are pursuing musical theatre. Not only that, I had so much fun during her lessons! I highly recommend her to be your voice/music teacher! :)"
"My daughter had a great first online lesson with Jessie. It was well structured and she is looking forward to the next lesson. Even got some homework on w
hat to practice. Jessie is very professional in how she conducts the lesson inclusive using the online tool available."
"I have had 5 lessons with Michelle, and they are going great! I got the lead role in my musical thanks to her amazing dedication and supportive teaching.
I would definitely reccomend this teacher to anyone who wants to improve their voice or musical theatre performance."
"While Natalie is a supremely educated and experienced voice instructor, she remains supportive of the novice singer and is insightful in her curriculum."
"My 12-year-old daughter just had our first lesson. She loved it. Mallory was able to create a great balance of fun and structure that worked for my daught
er. They seemed to "click," and the very first lesson ended with some assignments to be ready for the 2nd lesson next week."
"Marjorie was such a great teacher. Always encouraging and very positive, she helped me strengthen my voice in preparation for an audition I was nervous ab
out. Within the first lesson I could already hear an improvement in the strength and tonality of my voice. She was also very precise about rhythm and other techniques in the songs I was singing. Pity I can't continue my lessons with her as I am leaving New York!
