Beginning guitar lessons include concepts such as simple chords progressing to full chords, barred chords and power chords. Both tablature and classical guitar note reading are used in lessons, with an emphasis on good technic and musicianship.
With a performance degree from the University of Georgia, teaching certification from Georgia State and over 25 years of professional teaching experience, I am able to offer my students a diverse range of instructional resources.
*** Lesson Details *** My lessons include a warmup, music theory work, vocal or instrumental technique and then a vast selection of song repertoire to support new ideas in both technique and theory. Students are directed to watch or listen to examples of master performances in their field of studies. Clear weekly goals are made between lessons and I am always encouraging! Whatever life throws at you during the week doesn't have to stop your studies cold- we will come up with a plan that fits your lifestyle.
*** Studio Equipment *** I have a small Protools setup with microphones and a Kurzwell keyboard. I
like to be able to go online for some resources.
*** Travel Equipment *** I regularly use the internet in lessons as well as standard published educational texts.
*** Specialties *** I have been told that I am especially good at helping people make the jump from playing by rote to reading from the page. In vocal instruction, I am familiar with three schools of technique: the psycho-imagery school, the "anatomical" school, and the Italian "open throat" approach. My background in acting also contributes basic vocal projection techniques to vocal training. I am comfortable with all genres of music, including pop, rock, soul, R&B, gospel, jazz and opera. In instrumental studies, I am a woodwind doubler, reading fluently and transposing on-the-spot . As a jazz and gospel artist I improvise primarily on the flute and saxophone. My piano skills are equivalent to a second-year college piano major. I can improvise accompaniments as well as read piano scores. In addition to being a certified teacher in Georgia, I attained national certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2004.
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile- I look forward to helping you achieve your musical goals. I'm excited to announce that I'm now available to teach via Online if you're outside of my teaching radius or are seeking a more convenient alternative.
I'm a professional guitarist with a background in jazz, heavy metal, blues, classical, and bossa nova. In 2006 I graduated from the Berklee College of Music and am lead guitarist for the Atlanta band Axis of Empires.
Whether you are a beginning guitarist or a seasoned professional, I can expand and enhance your playing in any direction you choose. I look forward to getting to know you as a student and learning about what course of study will bring out not only your understanding of music but a musical style that is unique to you.
Having a long time love of all music I hav
e always enjoyed discussing music and educating others on its many aspects. As such I began teaching during summers home from Berklee and found that it was something I had a great deal of talent for. Now, with seven years of teaching experience behind me, I look forward to bringing my skills and insights to students of all ages and bring not only ability on the guitar but a greater love of music to a fresh crop of open minds!!
In addition to guitar, I am also qualified to teach voice, public speaking, dramatic acting, and all aspects of music theory, the latter of which I incorporate into all of my music lessons.
A FEW THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:
1. I am able to take lessons in your home or over Skype. I am no longer accepting lessons in my home.
2. Please only pick one teacher. I don't know why people do this but on more than one occasion I've had students come to me and say "I'm doing lessons with you and this other guy. I figure I can learn different things from both of you." You only need one teacher- if that's not me, I understand.
3. I will NOT remove you as a client on Takelessons so that I can take money under the table from you directly. Sometimes clients will say "the lessons on Takelessons are expensive- is there any way I can just pay you directly?" No, you may not. The amount you are paying is MY specified fee from which Takelessons takes a commission so paying me directly would not save you money. Furthermore, I have a binding agreement with Takelessons not to do this. If you press me on this matter I will discontinue your lessons altogether.
4. Similarly, if you are coming to my profile on Takelessons do not contact me on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media attempting to circumvent Takelessons. Please book through Takelessons and I will be happy to address any questions you may have.
*** Lesson Details *** Although I follow a specific lesson plan, its important to customize that to each student's skill level and specific needs. Thus, I will spend the first lesson evaluating where the student is in terms of overall musical awareness, existing skill on the instrument, and long term interest.
By the end of the first month, my beginning students will be able to perform basic chromatic and major scales, name the notes on the instrument, and have command of a few basic chords. With these core concepts and regular, committed practice, they will be able to learn and perform songs in a wide variety of styles after 3 to 6 months have passed.
My more advanced students will have a lesson plan customized to their specific goals and desires. In 3 to 6 months with such a student I will have them well on the path to accomplishing their long term goals, whether those be playing, composition, harmonic awareness, understanding of theory, or all of the above.
*** Studio Equipment *** dedicated music room; cables/amps; electric & acoustic guitars; keyboard
*** Travel Equipment *** Electric or acoustic guitar as needed.
*** Specialties *** Having graduated from the Berklee College of Music, I follow their approach in educating the student. In this regard I teach music theory along with the physical act of playing the guitar, which serves to not only enrich the experience for the student but demonstrate how what they are learning is applied to music on the whole.
I am fluent in many genres and specialize in rock, jazz, the blues, and various fusion genres. Because music functions off of the same principles regardless of genre, I can take whatever style the student might best appreciate and structure my lesson plan around it.
Jordan is very knowledgeable and a good teacher. You can find good guitar players that will show you how to play guitar, but Jordan is much more than that and can instruct even veteran players on how to improve their play.

Great Instruction for all levels
I am in my mid-thirties and have never had any formal musical instruction until I started taking lessons with Jordan a few months ago. I was a little nervous about starting the lessons, but Jordan made me very comfortable right away. You definitely can tell he knows music inside and out. He is also very helpful about incorporating just enough music theory into each lesson, so I can expand my knowledge of theory, but not so much that I get overwhelmed. I would definitely recommend Jordan to anyone looking for a great vocal or guitar instructor.
I have eight years teaching experience and a bachelors in guitar performance. I attended AIM on bass guitar and have been playing for eighteen years. *** Lesson Details *** My students can expect to work on technique, rhythm, theory, developing a repertoire and having fun. I teach music fundamentals and in three to six months expect to be a proficient guitarist in first position. I teach rock, folk, blues and classical.

*** Studio Equipment *** Room for music lessons, amplifiers, cables, and seating for parents.
*** Instructional Materials *** I provide most instructional materials (worksheets, individualized lesson notes, etc.). I rarely use method books, but if a method book is desired, it will need to be provided by the student.
I expect my students to provide their own instrument.
I have been playing/writing music since 2002. I am a very passionate, positive, and fun person; and my love for music shows in my lessons. Music is more than a hobby to me; it is truly my life, and I love sharing it with others.
The very moment I learned to read music, I started creating music of my own. I enjoyed writing music so much that I decided (while in middle school!) that music was going to be my future, my career, my life! I learned to play guitar and piano and started touring around the South-East, performing and singing my songs for anyone and everyone. During this time I also started teaching private lessons in music stores, for music companies, and at my home studio. This is where I developed my love for sharing the joy of music with others!
As time went by, I obtained a bachelors degree in Music Education and
a masters degree in Music Composition; I taught music as an adjunct professor at Reinhardt University and became the music teacher at Tate Elementary School.
These days, I am a professional musician, making a living with live performances and private lessons. I have taught hundreds of private students, and I use the experience that I have gathered over the years to better teach my lessons.
*** Lesson Details *** Lessons with me will be fun and relaxed, yet engaging! I know that sometimes, the fundamentals of music are not always the most exciting things to learn about. So, I strive to make lessons entertaining and musical from the very beginning! I will have you playing songs ASAP. I know exactly what steps to take to have you playing like a pro in the fastest time possible. I want to set you up for success, and I will give you the supplies to succeed (and have fun while doing it!). My goal is to inspire my students so that they will want to practice as much as possible; simply because daily practice at home is the best way to unlock your true potential.

Obviously, there are basics that every students needs to know, but beyond that, your personal musical goals will be at the forefront of your lessons with me! I have some students who love music theory, ones who enjoy improvisation (creating music on the fly), and others who simply love to sing songs while strumming guitar or playing the piano. Whatever your passion, I will help you reach your goals and hopefully inspire you to create additional musical goals!

I’ve been playing guitar for years but self taught. It got to the point where I needed help getting past some hurdles. Randy has been exactly what I was looking for. He took a quick assessment of where I was and what I was looking for and put me right on track. The lessons I received were a great value to me. I highly recommend Randy. Also, he’s a cool guy that plays some seriously cool music with real soul. The real deal!

Mark is a fantastic teacher. He is very patient and positive at all times. My teenage daughter and I both take lessons and he is very comfortable with our different learning styles and speeds. I particularly appreciate his focus on teaching from real songs. His attention to detail is great and I am always impressed that he is teaching us to listen and decode the chords, the strums and subtle little moments in the music. I highly recommend Mark - even for 50-something beginners like myself.

Mark has a systematic way of teaching guitar. He is teaching me fundementals of the fret board so I can understand this amazing instrument. I have homework every week and he has taught me how to practice, he is a thoughtful, gifted musician and I am so glad. Found him.

Great lesson. Very knowledgeable. Love her teaching style.

I was nervous before I arrived and excited when I left. She was nice and very patient. Her professionalism is a confidence boost at least for me it was. She’s excellent, so if you’re trying to decide on a instructor, look no further.
I am comfortable teaching from a book, but I generally teach guitar based upon the student's musical tastes and goals.
I can get beginners playing songs quickly and I can develop finger skills, soloing, and more advanced chording in students with more experience.
I grew up in Birmingham, AL, Boston, MA, and Cleveland, OH, and was classically trained on violin in all three cities by members of their respective orchestras. I began studying theory in 7th grade at The Alabama School of Fine Arts. I continued theory lessons while in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music. I attended Summer music programs at Apple Hill (New Hampshire) and Sewanee (Tennessee) and have extensive experience in orchestra, quartet, and chamber group environments.
Upon graduating Emory university in 1992 I played professionally in Destin, FL as a bassist, guitarist, violinist, and vocalist. I performed as bassist and backing vocalist with "Salty Dog" for nearly a decade. I am the co-founder of the Destin, FL band "Beach Mice." We perform for several weddings, corporate events, and benefits every year. Beach
Mice is also popular on the festival circuit on the Emerald Coast.
I relocated to Atlanta in November of 2013, and currently perform weddings, and at various restaurants and events in the Atlanta area.
I have taught individuals and group lessons on violin, bass, and guitar since 1997 and for several consecutive years at Playground Music in Fort Walton Beach.
I have several videos available on YouTube, and a website which is easily located through a simple Google search.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you fulfill your musical goals and ambitions. Happy Playing - Cheers! dp
I love to help with all of the basics and then go from there with whatever specific genre or technique each student might be interested in!
Hey guys! My name is Wes and over the last 6-7 years I've absolutely fallen in love with music. It's amazing to me to see that music affects every single human, no matter what specific genre they might prefer. And to be able to pick up and instrument and join in on it is such an incredible experience. I started by showing a few of my friends how to play some guitar back in 2013 and I've been teaching guitar and piano lessons ever since. I love to help people along and see them progress and overall ENJOY it! Hope I can be a good fit for you!
"Wow! Barbara is a very professional instructor with great communication skills. I believe that she is one of the best teachers I've met."
"Learned a LOT of great stuff in just the past 3 years from Trevor! He started out as my Middle School Guitar Teacher, but wound up being a personal guitar
tutor for my brother and myself until this day. Taught me just about everything I know about guitar scales, AND has refined my technique drastically!"
"Perfectly on time. Mellow and patient with my 12 year old daughter. Easy going and a good teacher. Thank you!"
"Aidan is a terrific teacher!! I played professionally over 35 years ago and have not played at all since. At this point I could not play ANYTHING. He took
me back through the basics and got me thinking the way I did when I was in my teens. Clearly he has the technical aspect of both music and teaching down - but what made him a great teacher to me is his love of music and guitar. Reminded me of why I loved it in the first place. Although we didn't match up on style perfectly - he embraced the music that I loved and got me back up and running - could not give him a higher recommendation!!"
"Greg is an excellent guitar teacher and I would recommend him....and have recommended him to many looking to take guitar lessons."
"Great first step. Supportive, positive, and focused."
"Trevor is an amazing teacher. He is one of the best teachers I have come across for music, and I've had several. He has a near encyclopedic knowledge on a
lmost all things music from composition to theory with a genuine interest in the material as well as teaching it. He is extremely patient, friendly, and kind of a nerd on several fronts, in the best, most awesome way possible I mean. If you want a truly comprehensive understanding of music from someone who knows what he is talking about and is fun to learn from, I'd say go with Trevor."
"Adam is entirely unafraid of dishing out criticism when it's due but won't withhold praise either. He'll push you while you're with him but understands th
at it's ultimately up to the student to get the material. Working with him is a blast provided you come to lessons prepared and put in the effort. What you get out of your sessions with Adam depends on what you put into them. If you don't slack off during the week and leave your ego at the door he'll have you playing better in no time."
"It was my first lesson and it was great so far. Really nice guy to work with."
When it comes to incredible guitar players, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd takes the cake. In this article, teacher Bernard M. shows you how to play the guitar just like the legend himself...
Many musicians strive to sound like their heroes. They want to get that special something that makes those legends stand out from the crowd.
One of the best ways you can do this is to learn their parts -- beat for beat, note for note. While this can be difficult and time consuming, it's on …
