I tackle students' individual problems instead of sticking to a book. I've been teaching privately for over 5 years and my students have excelled in whatever audition or challenge they are preparing for. I teach my students how to get the most out of their practice time, which is crucial to refining technique.

About Cheryl

In Savannah, GA I have worked at a local lesson academy for the past 10 years. I have had two students make All-State and countless students make it into District Honor Band. Additionally, there are yearly auditions for an arts academy in town and I have had every single student make it into that p

Hello my name is Joyce Lindsey,

I have been studying West African djembe, (traditional/ballet 3 set) dun-duns, culture and history for five years collectively. I am currently a member of all female drum and dance company called Ayodele Drum and Dance that is based out of Chicago, IL. I currently perform and continue to study West African music from Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, and the Ivory Coast through Ayodele and play for West African dance classes professionally.

I understand that teaching djembe requires a lot of patience as well as detailed but simple explanations/demonstrations of how to develop and improve djembe technique. Through my own experience with my djembe teachers and djembefolas like Bolokada Conde and Khalid Abdul Saleem over my five years of studying djembe, I was able to improve and develop my technique because my teachers were: patient, clear and detailed in their explanations, fun and concise when demonstrating simple and complex rhythms and able to break down ...

During this time my students have earned a 100% placement rate in our local middle school honor bands, numerous placements in the high school bands, including 15 first chair honors. I have placed at least one student in the Tennessee All-State band each of the 10 years, with multiple students achieving this distinction for the last 5 years. Other accolades include: The NAfME All-National Band, the Macy's Day Great American Marching Band, the Interlochen Summer Music Institute, guest soloist at the International Navy Band Saxophone Symposium, Finalist in the Navy Band Young Artist Competition, and the Tennessee Governor's School for the Arts.

I primarily teach classical saxophone, but I have an extended background in jazz, as well as full band experience. I am very comfortable in helping beginners start their journey on any wind instrument. As a saxophonist, I am sure that I will be able to help you reach your ...

Learn your favorite tunes! Single notes, bends, fun riffs and melodies. My love of the blues and Stevie Wonder is what drew me to the harmonica, and I really enjoy sharing that.

In the first several music lessons we establish overall music fundamentals. Good ears (notes), and good time feel (rhythm). We also get the basics of harmonica playing technique, and a song or two. After that, we expand into whatever music inspires you.

My hope is that I'll help you become a well round musician and harmonica player :-)

Without her I would have been too afraid the let my singing voice be heard. I'm so lucky to have found a professional like her to help me find my singing voice during the journey of my transition. I highly recommend her to anyone who is new to singing or wants to improve their existing voice. She's worth every minute."

I'm self-taught and have been playing for over 20 years and within minutes of viewing me play, John was able to pick out immediately my flaws. He gives me homework every week, and gives me a hard time if I do not do it. Exactly what I look for in a teacher."

"Fawn is a wonderful teacher! I was in the process of prepping for acting conservatories, some schools require the students to sing; Fawn helped this extremely inexperienced singer sound pretty good and confident for her auditions. Fawn is extremely professional and light hearted, she'll never make you feel uncomfortable about your performance. Fawn is encouraging and very talented, I could hear improvement within my performance by my third lesson. You'll never feel stuck when rehearsing with her and she's full of suggestions. I would recommend Fawn to anyone wanting to take singing lessons!"

She hears what is going on with my voice and guides me towards the right direction. The 30 minutes I come in are effective and we already have a few songs that I can sing at future auditions.
