I've been sewing since I was 12 and I will share everything my Grandmother taught me. Basic sewing, your sewing machine, sewing with patterns, shopping for fabric and notions. Garment construction, alterations and what ever you'd like to learn to create beautiful clothing for yourself or your children. I spent time as a professional dressmaker and continue to make my clothing in my leisure. I love the craft and you will too!

My Grandmother taught me how to sew during the summers when I was 8 years old. I was hooked. From then, I began altering old clothes to make new pieces all during school, taking garments apart and putting them back together for a fresh look. I spent many years as a professional dressmaker and retail merchandising of designer sportswear. Learn to sew with me and have the looks you really want. Beginners, intermediate or an expert that wants to sharpen your skills.

Custom classes designed to fit your specific needs. Lessons for the beginner and intermediate sewer who needs some help. Do you need help with learning a specific technique, installing zippers, adding a lining, hand stitching, pockets, choosing the correct needle, thread, seam variations or just want to learn how to alter your own clothing? Each class will be designed personally for you.

About Terry
I learned to sew as a teenager. It became a hobby that I became passionate about that grew into a business when I decided to take an early retirement. I’m interested in helping others learn how to perfect their skills and and be proud of their work.

I’m familiar with the challenges that sewing can present and knows the patience that it can take. Some time you may need that extra help or opinion on how to get something done correctly. I would like to share my experience and lessons learned with you.

Not your mother's home ec class! Sewing is a great foundation for any child who likes to work with their hands. Problem-solving and math skills will reinforced, and your child will be introduced to fractions, measuring, making patterns, and the engineering of textiles. We start with the fundamentals of hand-sewing and work at your child's pace toward machine sewing skills. Your child will make practical and whimsical projects--scaled to their ability--and will feel a sense of accomplishment after each lesson. Your child will be make the design decisions that lead to confident maker skills. I'm a homeschooling mom, afterschool art and animation instructor, costuming hobbyist, and always have a craft I'm working on. I love helping kids gain confidence and build their knowledge and skills at a comfortable pace.

About MarKay
Kids love to learn to Sew with Mrs. Appel, with fun, confidence-building projects!

Sewing Lessons (hand and machine) for kids and Tee Shirt Quilt Lessons.

Sewing--its art and technology--thrill me! I like making traditional art--drawing and painting--but I especially love to work with fabric and paper. I enjoy hand-sewing and machine sewing, papier mache and paper crafts. I spot the art potential in everyday items-- from disposables to items in the hardware store.I love the maker movement, and want to help children see the benefits of making things for themselves and exploring their creativity. I have years of experience working with children in after school programs, churches, plus experience doing production machine and hand sewing. I'm a new grandmother, and I can't wait to be the "crafty grandma"-- meanwhile, let me help you
r child discover a love of sewing!

Hi all, I'm an experienced sewer with a degree in Textiles and Design! I've been sewing and teaching for over 20 years and love what I do.
Because I've worked with children and created lesson plans I know exactly how to teach with clarity and work according to the needs of my students.

About Adenike
Hello,

My name is Adenike, you can call me Adé. I'm a trained fashion stylist and designer with a degree in Fashion Merchandising and Design from the University of Rhode Island.

I have taught sewing and design, to people of all ages, genders, and abilities throughout my professional career. It began in 2002 when I decided to work with the Americorps, Teach America program. There I created and executed a lesson plan that taught students how to sketch, render, sew, read patterns and adjusts garments for personal to suit their personal needs. The program incorporated science, math, and history so that they had a practical and anthropological approach to fashion design. It was great, and I discovered that one of my other joys in life is teaching.

Most recently, I've worked with Hobby Quest, where I teach children in an after schoo
l setting. Hobby Quest requires an extensive background check because of that fact that work is done with students on school grounds. I can supply references that will attest to my professionalism and easy going nature.

It's recommended that you schedule for a minimum of 60 minutes to get the most out of your lesson.

*IMPORTANT* Potential students interested in working on projects will be asked for project details and current sewing ability.
If a student is a beginner sewer, then he or she will be required to have a complete command of fundamental sewing as well as basic machine knowledge before introduction of project. There will be no exception to that rule.

I've had a few lessons with Sonya under my belt now and I could not be happier with her as my instructor. I came into this with very specific things I wanted to learn or touch on and she has been very knowledgeable. I'm not an absolute beginner, more of an advanced beginner and she adapts her lesson plans accordingly. She knows her stuff, she's great at teaching, flexible and just an all around cool chick. Money and time well spent.

I have been sewing since the age of five years old. My first project was a shirt and skirt. I fell in love! I have now been sewing for 45 years. the last 30 years I have been sewing specialty items for historic use. I am a master Craftsman in hand sewing and machine sewing. I specialize in costuming. I am offering classes in hand sewing. Historically correct stitching. Machine sewing everything from supportive garments to outerwear and historic accessories. I also offer classes in pattern making. I have been involved in a non-profit 501 c 3 Historical Society for 50 years. I have taught within that Society for 20 years. I have sold my hand-sewn and machine sewn items within that Society for 30 years. I do have a teaching degree from Weber State University in Utah. I have taught in public classes for 15 years.

About Laura
I am a bit of an unconventional teacher. I like to hear my lessons around my students best ability to learn. My courses are set at a very comfortable pace and are laid back. I have been contracted to sew costuming that had to pass as historically correct.

Hand sewing a costume for an actress playing Queen Elizabeth the first. Everything had to be hand-sewn from the undergarments to the seven layers that consists of a historically correct tutor costume. I have some pieces for reenactors. I have also been contracted to so for an exhibit in several museums. I have customers all over the world. I also have experience in creating patterns from photos alone or someone's drawing.

I like to share my love of history and sewing. I do this through teaching and sharing. I love to see the excitement in someone's eyes when they put they're very firs
t project on. The fit and comfort of a homemade, handmade item surpasses anything that you can get, unless you go to a Couture shop. Couture sewing is a dying art. One I hope to at least bring more interest in. You're wanting to learn how to make anything from Kilts to Jerkins or corsets to a smart 40s dress suit and everything in between this is the place.

With pattern-making we will learn how to take patterns off of clothes that we love. You know that shirt that fits beautifully but they don't make it anymore. I will also go over some ways to find inexpensive material that still gives you the wow factor.
