An experienced and registered Suzuki teacher, my students learn to play violin starting from a solid foundation with emphasis on posture and producing a beautiful tone. In addition to playing the instrument, students can expect to learn reading music, basic theory, music history, and ear training. Learning violin will teach patience, concentration, the value of hard work, coordination, as well as enhancing memory, aural skills, and fine motor control. It was Dr. Suzuki's belief and mine that learning an instrument not only fosters these skills but also helps to foster the hearts and minds of those learning the craft.

Sylvia Wehrs grew up in Auburn, Alabama studying the violin and piano. She is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where she graduated with both a Bachelor’s in Violin Performance and a Master’s degree in Violin Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy. Ms. Wehrs is a fully registered violin teach

Welcome to my violin and viola studio! I believe that every student can enjoy the process of studying an instrument, and can learn to play with ease and joy. As a result, I work to determine each student's learning style, look for ways to encourage individual ownership of learning, and adapt my approach to help meet each student’s needs and goals. I teach both Suzuki and traditional lessons, and draw from a variety of musical styles and approaches to help students develop a broad range of skills that include a strong technical foundation, ear training, sight-reading, ensemble playing, and musical self-expression. Through this approach, I hope to help students develop a lifelong love for music that will serve them in all future endeavors, musical or otherwise.

Hear From TakeLessons Violin Students
Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

I've recently took a block of 20 lessons with Kristen and I can say without a doubt that her skill at conveying her knowledge is unsurpassed. There was never a session that I came away from that I didn't learn something. I could describe my issues every week and she would offer several suggestions on overcoming it. Because of this, she made it possible for me to reach new heights in my skill with my instrument, but also a deeper understanding of music structure and theory. I highly recommend her if you are looking for that one teacher to help lead you, for any age."

He is a very good instructor. His ears some how manage to survive the treacherous hour of me trying to find notes without even a hint of suffering. Not only has he guided me on how to practice and improve, my violin was in terrible disarray. He has helped me identify what needed repair which has also helped in the quality of sound. The environment where he instructs is welcoming, tidy, and comfortable. He is fantastic in his abilities as a musician and a teacher. I would highly recommend him to anyone."
