This far he is a very knowledgeable and professional person. Unfortunately we found that my cello was lacking due to defects in build and so now I have to get a replacement which I am hoping does not hinder our lessons. He has been very helpful with getting me sites to get material and tools necessary for our sessions. Look forward to our next session and moving forward.

He is really good at helping you understand how to play the instrument in detailed but open ways. He is a font of information.

I came to Mark with utterly no background in the violin, wanting to start as an adult learner, and I can't imagine a better teacher than Mark. Mark is helping me gain crucial fundamentals while also learning fun pieces to strengthen those elements and encouraging me to select pieces, too.
I also like that he incorporates some music theory into his lessons.
Finally, I feel like becoming a violinist now, as an adult, isn't as crazy as I worried it might be since I have Mark to teach me.

Mark is a talented musician and worked very well with my son to help improve and fine tune his viola performance just before he heads off to college. Emphasis was placed on technique and musicality. A great experience ! At one point Marked picked up his electric violin and played a beautiful duet with my son that was amazing!

If I were to say 15 years on the violin, that would be a shocking time. I did earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Music where I received most of my education in both violin and piano. In my perspective, the violin is such an intricate instrument and I am blessed to work with students in wanting to learn violin. It’s true where putting the hard work in violin takes you where you need to be. It does require Practice! I am willing to work with the student and help them grow in advancing this instrument. Let’s keep in touch!

I've taught people who were just beginning violin (both children and adults) to students who were working on major concertos. What is most important to me as a teacher is building a strong foundation from which it is possible to branch out and connect emotionally with the music they play. I also strive to make performers out of violinists and to help them engage both audiences and themselves.

About Ha-eun

I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 20 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, per

Ha-eun has been an amazing violin teacher. I played violin for several years throughout my childhood and then stopped playing for about 10 years before deciding I wanted to learn again. Having not played for so long, I wasn't really sure what I remembered or what my skill level was at.

Ha-eun has done a great job evaluating me and picking pieces that are challenging but still do-able. She is really friendly and encouraging and has made re-learning the violin an enjoyable experience.

For personal reasons, I have to take a break from violin for a little but when I re-start lessons, I will definitely pick Ha-eun as my teacher again if she is still taking students at that time!

She really knows her stuff when it comes to music and I would recommend her to anyone wanting to learn violin.

I was exited to start my first lesson and it was great! Ha-eun welcomed me warmly and I think learning with her will be successfull and wonderful at the same time. Looking forward to my next lesson!

"Very clear and passionate about the instruction he teaches! Lorenzo has won many musical competitions and is not only an exceptional violinist but also a great teacher. Taking lessons from Lorenzo has helped me be able to get in Brevards music festival program in 2019 and also make it to the semifinals in their solo competition. I would also like to add that with Lorenzo’s help I also was able make it to the finals at my universities solo competition later that year. Lorenzo is great at teaching bow technique and left hand finger technique but he is also amazing at teaching the heart and soul of the music!"

"Gifted Teacher!!!

If you are searching for an outstanding violin teacher, I highly recommend Helena.  Her students benefit from her many years of teaching and performing experience as well as her extensive educational background.  When you learn musical pieces with Helena she teaches proper technique with just the right amount of music theory to produce well-rounded musicians.  Some of her best qualities are her great abundance of patience that she mixes with professionalism, kindness, a sense of humor, and a great deal of encouragement.  Helena is certainly a violin teacher you will be glad you found. I feel privileged to be her student! Thank you Helena for continually inspiring me to learn and keeping me challenged as well!"

"Maggie gave me violin lessons way back when I was in high school, and when I decided to pick up my violin again as an adult, Maggie was the first person I thought of to call. I don't know where I would be as a student without Maggie's patient, consistent, and thoughtful teaching style. I have ADHD and carry a lot of insecurities from childhood about my ability to stick with an instrument, and Maggie meets me where I am every single time. Maggie listens to my goals with the instrument and tailors lesson plans and teaching styles to my specific needs.

10/10 would lesson again -- especially for students that are daunted by the process of learning an instrument or who will benefit from a compassionate, trauma-informed educator who has experience working with neurodivergent students."

"Elizabeth is an artist at heart. She's very patient and kind. I highly recommend her!

I came to Elizabeth as an adult student with a few years of experience in playing, but with a lot of doubts about whether I could advance. I'd previously taken lessons at the Music Institute of Chicago (Evanston campus), but I didn't like how they did things over there. They are extremely overpriced for what they offer. In my first lesson there, my teacher wouldn't even let me pick up the bow and she made me play Twinkle Twinkle over and over again...

Elizabeth made playing very relaxing. Her approach is just to attack the material without any hesitations. And if you make a mistake, just do it again. She let me pick out the repertoire, which made me excited to play, and offered great recommendations on material that would help my playing. Sometimes I was too ambitious and she'd be the first to point out that maybe I wasn't ready for a piece just yet. Then she'd recommend something else that would help me get there.

Elizabeth teaches from her home and it's pretty easy to get to by train, bus, or car."

Charlene has proved that is not the case and I am amazed at the progress my daughter has made for never having played an instrument before. Best Violin Songs to Practice by Genre: Rock, Pop, and Country

Love it or hate it, practice is a significant part of every musician’s life. This is especially true for those learning the violin, as there are many complex techniques and skills one must learn. As every musician can attest, finding the time and motivation to practice can be difficult, especially when you’re used to practicing the same songs over and over again. Rather than bore yourself to death, try switching up your practice plan by adding different genres of music--such as roc …

How to Set Up a Violin Bridge | Violin Tips

There's one important - and slightly intimidating - hurdle that all violin students have in common. Whether you're a complete beginner looking to make a cheap, factory-made instrument more grateful to play, or a more advanced student wanting to customize your "forever" instrument to suit you and you alone, the basic knowledge of how to set up a violin is worth grasping even if your interest doesn't extend much beyond curiosity and a love of tinkering with things. As you're probably aware, the b …
