All levels of students are welcome. I have over 42 years of experience to help you achieve your best. Specializing in Electric Violin

About Mark T
I have been playing since I was 4 years old and have been loving every minute of it. I have been fortunate to play and tour with many groups here in the US and in Europe. Over the years I have really enjoyed passing on my knowledge and love of music making to others. I would be honored if you gave me the opportunity to help your or your family achieve their musical dreams.

*** Lesson Details ***
First and foremost I am very laid back and that helps my students relax into the process of making great music. Expect your first lesson to be about getting to know each other and getting a firm idea of what your expectations are.

Everyone learns at a different pace and has changing interests. Within the framework of moving you towards your musical goals I create custom goals and lessons for my students.

What does that mean? Well, y
ou can pick out some of your own music, customize the way you practice, decide when you want to move forward with more challenging music and many other things.

I do expect my students to learn several pieces of music at a time and perform so you can share your music. That's what it is all about after all!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room with seating for parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
None, all students require an instrument to practice on.

*** Specialties ***

Mark was an excellent teacher! I have never touched a violin before taking lessons with him and Mark, being a very patient and encouraging teacher, went through the basics and had me playing songs in just a few weeks! Mark made going to lessons fun and engaging and I enjoyed going to each and every lesson! If you are looking for fun lessons where you will learn a lot with a very talented, patient and encouraging teacher, then I highly recommend taking lessons with Mark!

Mark is a great teacher. I hadn’t played in over 35 years and he had me playing reasonably in no time. I loved how he was able to adjust to my skills and provide a personal program.

I teach from the earliest beginner through adult. My violin students are currently performing for different schools and ensembles. When students are performing with orchestras, much time is spent working on that music as well as their regular music.

About Diane
I have a degree and certification in violin and piano from the Boston Conservatory as well as a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. I have had additional training and certification as a Suzuki teacher from The Suzuki Teacher Training Institute. I am a member of SAGWA-Suzuki Association of the Greater Washington Area as well as SAA-Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have played all around the world including the Vatican, White House, Paris, Russia, England and Wales as well as in Concert Halls such as Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center. I have taken students with me to perform as well in these countries and also every major concert hall in the Washington, D.C. area. I give my students opportunities to perform whenever there is an opportunity. In addition I work with students to earn music scholarships to private school
s and colleges. I am also a judge in the Young Artist Award in Maryland. In addition, I have received two White House awards for my performances at the White House, I am also a member of Psi Chi International Honor Society.

Music has been an important part of my life. It represents so much that is good in life and I do my best to communicate this to my students. I am training my students not just to be musicians but to love music for life.

*** Lesson Details ***
I treat each student as an individual since everyone is different. For some I might use a traditional approach, some just the Suzuki approach and others a combination of techniques. Whatever produces the best results. My goal is not to make strictly classical musicians but to train students to love music and carry this love throughout life. My repertoire consists of everything including traditional, Suzuki, Disney, Showtunes, etc. I have taken students to perform little concerts at the White House, schools, hospitals and concert halls to get the real feel of performing. I view lessons as a three way relationship between myself, the student and the parent so that the parent is not left out. I even have a small group called Musical Magic which incorporates magic into music. I feel I am laid back but am able to accomplish my goal through positive reinforcement. Every child or student wants to feel good about his/her playing. If you believe in yourself, anything is possible. If you want online lessons, please contact me through Take Lessons since I have additional availability to teach online. In the past six months my students have performed for the National Humane Society at their animal ball, a multi teacher recital on a local stage, and just two weeks ago seven of them performed at Strathmore. This summer I have two more concerts planned. Coming up will be an all instrument graduation with several other teachers where students receive medals for their performances. No student is required to perform but if they want to the opportunity is there. All students are required to have an instrument prior to beginning lessons. If students need to rent a violin, I will provide you with the name of a violin dealer that both rents and sells string instruments. Piano students must have a piano or keyboard.

I have also started a toddler music appreciation program geared for the 1-4age range. The purpose of this program is to expose very young children to the fun of Music through instruments, songs and play.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I teach at home and have both a grand piano and electric keyboard in addition to a harp and violin.

*** Travel Equipment ***
When my students have to travel to perform, I make sure they have everything they need.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki approaches for both violin and piano. I also teach children with learning disabilities.and have extensive summer programs to help students with auditions for youth orchestras and school orchestras.

I began playing violin in addition to viola in high school. I enjoy the faster response of the violin and the way its higher pitches can soar over the top of the other strings, though I still prefer to play the 'inner' parts in an ensemble.

About Joshua
*** Travel Equipment ***
I will bring my instrument and a music stand for myself, and I assume the student will have their own as well. There are specific collections of songs and exercises that the student should be ready to purchase based on their level of playing and will be determined after our initial lesson. Students will want to continue to invest in other collections as they progress and I will occasionally provide additional materials as appropriate.

*** Specialties ***
I have a Bachelor of Music Education and taught middle school strings in the Houston area public schools. I utilize methods of Kodaly (certified Level I) in creating a holistic approach to teaching music and use the songs and progression of the Suzuki School for beginners. I incorporate ear-training, music theory, and music history into learning about mus
ic in addition to the mechanics of playing a string instrument. My ultimate goal is to help each student become their own teacher!

***Special Needs***
I am more than happy to explore ways in which students with special needs can engage music through listening, reading, writing, singing and even playing an instrument...let's talk!!

I use a hybrid approach of Suzuki and string method books with my violin and viola students. Rhythm/note reading is taught as well as how to create a beautiful tone. Familiar songs are played starting on the first day! I also conduct a string orchestra and students are encouraged to join after achieving a certain level of proficiency to enjoy the benefits of performing with others.

About Shannon
Music is my passion, my hobby, my career and my gift. I have been performing since age 7 and teaching for the last 25 years. I have a bachelor's and master's degree in music and love to share my knowledge and experience with all ages and aptitudes - even special needs. My approach to teaching is fun but serious, laid-back but encouraging, demanding but forgiving. I teach students how to be disciplined with their practice and how to make the most of their limited time.

*** Lesson Details ***
I can help you achieve your goals! For those who want a well-rounded music education, I include music theory (note and rhythm reading), technique, ear training, improvisation and performance practice in my curriculum using a variety of methods. I enjoy working with adults interested in picking up their instrument after a number of years. P
erhaps you are someone interested in pursuing an ability to play a certain style - pop, jazz, hymns, oldies, classics, or certain artists. I customize our lessons to match your objectives.
My students have an opportunity to perform publicly several times a year which encourages practice and also builds confidence. After a few lessons, I can provide an idea of where a student will be in 3-6 months. You can always expect to find me prepared with fun ideas for our lesson. I have a grand piano as well as several keyboards to add variety and fun to our lessons.

*** Studio Equipment ***
home-grand piano in living room seating for parents
church- digital piano and seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would bring my own violin to demonstrate but would expect students to have their own instrument.

*** Specialties ***
For piano, I use Faber & Faber, Alfred, Bastien and Music for Little Mozarts. I include sight reading books, rhythm workbooks, improv studies, and later scales and arpeggios. For violin I have created my own hybrid using traditional methods and Suzuki.

About David
I grew up in Birmingham, AL, Boston, MA, and Cleveland, OH, and was classically trained on violin in all three cities by members of their respective orchestras. I began studying theory in 7th grade at The Alabama School of Fine Arts. I continued theory lessons while in Boston at the New England Conservatory of Music. I attended Summer music programs at Apple Hill (New Hampshire) and Sewanee (Tennessee) and have extensive experience in orchestra, quartet, and chamber group environments.

Upon graduating Emory university in 1992 I played professionally in Destin, FL as a bassist, guitarist, violinist, and vocalist. I performed as bassist and backing vocalist with "Salty Dog" for nearly a decade. I am the co-founder of the Destin, FL band "Beach Mice." We perform for several weddings, corporate events, and benefits every year. Beach
Mice is also popular on the festival circuit on the Emerald Coast.

I relocated to Atlanta in November of 2013, and currently perform weddings, and at various restaurants and events in the Atlanta area.

I have taught individuals and group lessons on violin, bass, and guitar since 1997 and for several consecutive years at Playground Music in Fort Walton Beach.

I have several videos available on YouTube, and a website which is easily located through a simple Google search.

I look forward to meeting you and helping you fulfill your musical goals and ambitions. Happy Playing - Cheers! dp

About Hannah
I was introduced to the world of music at the age of four when my mother, an accomplished violinist, placed a violin in my hands. I have been playing the violin for 23 years and throughout those years developed an interest in pursuing many instruments in the string family. Teaching music is my passion and being able to share that passion with others is what makes my job truly rewarding. Through my years of teaching I have had the pleasure of working with students of all ages and abilities. As a dedicated and experienced teacher I understand that every individual learns music differently. My teaching method is based on differentiated instruction. I enjoy discovering, creating and applying custom learning styles during the course of my private lessons. I believe communication is an essential skill when it comes to teaching not only to stude
nts but also parents.

When it comes to learning a new talent, I believe that patience and consistency is key. Before working with a new student or family, I find it important that we discuss the student's interests and goals for the instrument. From there, I determine a structured lesson plan based on the individual's needs and musical experience. I teach many different musical styles including classical, folk, bluegrass, celtic, pop, etc.

During the course of private music lessons my students will learn basic to advanced instrumental techniques, songs, scales, sight-reading, and basic music theory. I also prepare many of my students for musical examinations, auditions and live performances.

I am new to TakeLessons.com but have been teaching for many years. Here is what some people have had to say about me.

"Hannah was an absolute pleasure to work with. My son took violin lessons with her from 6th grade until his junior year. She is a wonderful teacher who is both knowledgeable and patient as well as having an excellent rapport with her students. I would highly recommend Hannah for any age group of student."
-Michelle A. March 6, 2018

"Hannah , does a great job teaching students of all ages. I am an adult student and have been taking violin lessons for 3 years. She challenges me and pushes for improvement. Hannah focuses on intonation and proper technique. The Suzuki method is taught along with a variety of other music genres - bluegrass, Christmas & popular. Have enjoyed taking lessons each week."
-Patty C. March 5, 2018

"Hannah is an amazing musician who is also great at teaching what she knows. She’s professional, yet personal and friendly. She has also become a great friend and I will be forever grateful to Hannah for teaching both my daughter and I something we will carry and cherish for the rest of our lives".
-Susana C. February 22, 2018

"We found Hannah about 3 years ago when my third grade daughter wanted to start violin lessons. Now in 6th grade, my daughter still loves playing violin, and Hannah has been an incredible teacher and mentor. Hannah is a skilled musician, who also understands how to connect with students. She has high expectations while offering unwavering encouragement and support. She has nurtured our daughter's passion for music, and we are go grateful that she has been a part of her musical journey."
-Anna H. February 20, 2018

"Ms. Hannah has been teaching my son for about 9 months. He began violin lessons right before his fifth birthday. Ms. Hannah is very patient with him in lessons and he adores her. In addition, she works with us and coaches us on how we can practice at home. We have seen so much progress this year, and we are excited to see how far he can go with Ms. Hannah’s help".
-Ann B. February 13, 2018

"Hannah has taught me violin for 9 years. Under her guidance and instruction I improved so much I auditioned for and was accepted to the Mastery Orchestra at my high school. Lessons with Hannah have always been engaging, and she has the ability to reveal problem areas without being discouraging. I highly recommend her teaching."

We are incredibly thankful to have found her as an instructor."

"I've been taking violin from Hannah for almost a year and it has been amazing! Starting the violin at age 55+ was exciting but anxiety producing but Hannah made me feel from the first moment that I could do this. She is an awesome teacher and is so talented herself! I have learned so much and could not ask for a better experience."

"Very pleased with Mrs. F. My daughter & I know Hannah for 2 years since she's still Ms. Jones until she got married and become Mrs. F. Mrs. F. aren't just sharing the love of music but she share love and care for my daughter. My daughter loves to go to her Violin lessons. She is very excited and happy every time she gets to learn with Hannah. She started to practice and work hard with Hannah's guidance since 2014. She enjoy learning process and I am so happy to see her progressing so well. Hannah's personality, high professional and communication very well with parents and she will come out of the room to greet & meet and talk to you before the lesson and after the lesson she will always give you an update about your child learning and what they're working on for the next level. Hannah is a very dedicated music teacher if you are looking to hire someone to teach your kids; look no further. Hannah is the one. She's very sweet, kind, care and very friendly. My daughter has improved so much since start learning with Hannah. She made it to become a Concert Master at Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra (GYSO) and also made it to Honor Orchestra 2016. I couldn't be any happier than this. My daughter loves of violin has grown so much over years of practices with Hannah. Hannah is a very patient and supportive teacher, and my daughter, who has taken violin lessons for over a year now, absolutely loves practicing every day on her own, in adddition to her lessons with Hannah. I attribute this to Hannah’s gifted skills as a teacher and her ability to tap into the unique talent and potential in each student. I have been playing guitar and bass for over 15 years, which has been a remarkable and rewarding musical journey. After teaching myself for seven years, I decided to attend the Atlanta Institute of Music from which I graduated with a performance-based scholarship. My own approach to learning has helped me to teach students from all various backgrounds as I am able to adapt my lesson plans to accommodate either a more classical or more colloquial approach to effectively relate the material to each student effectively. My lesson plans are structured around the goals that students set for themselves, which I then show them how to achieve in a practical manner. This is a great life skill that will extend even beyond music. The only goals that cannot be reached are the ones you tell yourself repeatedly "I can't", which is the only real barrier to learning and creating.
