I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec
tronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.
Banjo: I teach bluegrass, country, and some blues and rock music. I can also teach a bit of old-timey frailing/clawhammer style.

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

Larry and his wife are so friendly and knowledgeable. I came away from my first lesson feeling much more confident in my ability and encouraged to develop it further. They critiqued my current ability without being mean or hurtful, and they gave me plenty of positive feedback on the things I'm doing right. Being self-taught will only get you so far. Having an actual instructor who can create a plan based on your specific needs is invaluable. I highly recommend.

Master in all basic math concepts. Can identify student shortfalls and address them through the subject fundamentals approach and by tying in real world applications for easier grasp of material.

About Daniel
818-577-7000

I'm a graduate of UCLA School of Engineering with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I have a passion for explaining how the physical world works through math and physics along with 9 years of tutoring experience in those subjects, test prep, and mentorship programs. The teaching strategy I believe in emphasizes subject fundamentals, a powerful and necessary tool for higher problem solving. This strategy has proven very effective regardless of the student's educational background or mental ability. Besides being knowledgeable, I am motivating, caring, and patient in guiding your student to academic success!

Executive Functioning is a separate realm that tutoring can assist in. It deals with cognitive processes including organization, time management, and study skills. Much of the difficulty students face in academic subje
cts can be attributed to the lack of executive functioning. They either cannot keep up with the pace and workload that advanced courses demand or haven't figured out the best way to study for themselves. I am able to assess a student's shortcomings and formulate a plan for higher achievement.

Math:
• Elementary • Pre-Algebra • Algebra 1 & 2 • Geometry • Pre-Calculus

Math begins with counting. It's the most important skill we learn in our early years, and it becomes the foundation for all other math concepts. Once we can count, we can then add, subtract, and measure the world around us. Shortly thereafter, we learn about place values, graphs, time, money, and shapes

About Janalee
I am heavily invested in helping the student meet their potential and then pushing that threshold.

I have been tutoring for almost 5 years. During my lessons, I help with homework and add additional problems and examples in areas the student seem to be struggling in. I like to use visual representations as often as possible because I believe that the way one student learns, does not apply to all students! If the student isn't understanding, then it's the teacher's fault. I've worked with hyperactive, special needs children for almost ten years and I believe that learning should be (and needs to be) fun. I try to incorporate that into all of my lessons!

About Sara
Hi! My name is Sara and I'm a college student attending Brigham Young University in Provo. I love learning and getting to experience lots of different things! My favorite things are people and music, and for that reason I am currently studying as a sociology major with the intent to work in nonprofit helping children after I graduate! I currently work at BYU as a Peer Mentor where I meet one-on-one with first year college students to assist them in developing time management skills, effective study strategies, and test-prep skills. I worked at a daycare for a year where I ran a homework club for the elementary school students enrolled in the daycare. I've also assisted in creating and carrying out a homeschool curriculum for my 4 special needs siblings over the last few years. I have had lots of opportunities to work with youth while I've
been in various leadership positions and, like I mentioned before, I love people! And I'm excited to get to know each of you!

Hello,

I'm a state certified math teacher for 6-12. I have taught math, physical science, and life science for 4 years at the middle school level at a private school in Los Angeles.

I focus on making sure students understand the language of math. I incorporate quality note taking methods, as well as ensure students are solving problems with an organized step by step approach.

I also have an extensive science and engineering background knowledge both in-school and in practical application with 13 years of engineering experience in industry. I often connect the raw math concepts with their applications in secondary level science subjects like physics and chemistry.

For high school students, I always stress the key Algebra principles for the ACT and SAT.

For college students, I am able to cover differential and integral calculus, linear algebra, and statistics.

I can meet in person, but given the horrible LA traffic, I would prefer to conduct online sessions in which I can both ...

About Mark
Hi!

I'm a former engineer turned math and science teacher. My Mechanical Engineering education is from Stanford and my masters in Engineering Management is from Milwaukee School of Engineering. I have over 6 years of teaching experience in public, charter, and private school classrooms. I have 2 years of experience working part-time at one of the top-tier professional tutoring centers in the nation which has trained me to teach subjects ranging from beginning reading to high school courses and SAT/ACT prep.

I can teach any math from K-college. I like to say "K thru Calc!"! I have a passion for learning and try my best to light the fire for learning in all of my students. When it comes to the nuts and bolts of math, that's the easy part, but I take it father and have fun with math through story telling, connection with language and with
hands on applications (which can still be done online!).

Try me as a tutor and you will not be disappointed... : )
