I like to make learning an instrument fun and easy to fit into your schedule!

If you're an adult finally getting around to learning your dream instrument or a child following your passion of playing music I tailor your lessons specifically to you. We look at what you want to play, pick specific songs that you want to learn, and learn the techniques you need to play these songs. It sounds simple, but it's so effective and much more fun to learn this way!

About Grant

Hi! I'm Grant! And it would be my pleasure to be your music instructor. I teach all of the fretted string instruments: Guitar | Banjo | Mandolin | Bass | Ukulele I structure my lesson plans specifically around what you want to learn and how you want to learn it. We will go as slow or fa

Based in NYC, I currently perform and work with artists such as Jon Batiste (Colbert Show), Russell Hall and have played with artists such as Paul McCartney, Antonique Smith, John Lithgow, Rob Marrow, Jimmy McGriff and many others. With many years experience touring, recording, performing on TV (ABC’s Good Morning America) and films: Sam Mendes' Away We Go, PBS Masterpiece, The Chaperone and PBS Kids Peg Plus Kids, I have a lot of valuable knowledge and connections in the music business. Plus I have spoken on panels at The Americana Fest (Nashville) and Far West Folk Alliance conference (LA) and have worked with publicists and writers. I am also a published author and editor. I am passionate about teaching and helping other musicians.

Nick was a patient and enthusiastic teacher. I was nervous to start music lessons in my late 30s, but he made me feel comfortable and I never felt embarrassed. He taught me the songs I was interested in learning, but snuck in music theory and the basics along the way! Highly recommend

Nick has done a great job with our 14 year old son! He has a great laid back style that is appreciated and keeps the lessons fun and engaging. Not only is he learning to play some of his favorite songs, but he is also getting ear training, music reading, picking, chord building, etc. We would highly recommend Nick!
Rachel
I would very highly recommend Nick as a guitar teacher. I've been taking lessons for five weeks and he has already helped me a lot with my technique. He has a great combination of the knowledge of a professional musician and also the patience and guidance of a very experienced teacher.

I also like that he is helping me with ear training. I've had previous experience with reading music, but he is really expanding my horizons with listening to music and trying to figure it out by using basic principles. This is a way to learn that I hadn't experience before in guitar lessons in the past, and I think it's a great way to learn.

I'm looking forward to many more lessons to come. This has really helped me to enjoy playing the guitar again!

Great first class.

Junia has been wonderful reteaching my 16 year old brother Spanish 1 because his classes were abysmal during the covid shutdowns. She emails me what they worked on after every class so that we can practice at home and is incredibly flexible with scheduling so he has been able to get a bunch of classes in right before he starts Spanish 2. Junia has definitely lessened the stress of the upcoming school year and we will continue to have her assist him while he gets up to speed.
