About Casey
Hi I'm a 29 year old professional musician that has worked hard to become a first call drummer for performance, instruction, and studio session work in the Atlanta area. Over the past 5 years I have toured nationally, recorded with countless regional, national and local artists, and have gained a positive reputation in the Atlanta community as a unique, innovative, and passionate drum teacher. I studied music at The University of Mississippi and I am qualified to teach numerous styles including Rock, Pop, Hip Hop, Jazz, Electronica, World and many others. I have years of experience teaching
private and group lessons (I'm a recurring Camp Counselor in Summer music programs). I offer inspired beginning drummers of all ages the chance to learn the art of drum set playing within a basic, relaxed, and fun context.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My drum studio includes 2 drum kits to help aid in visual learning, percussion instruments from around the world, a PA system to play along to music and great vibes!

*** Travel Equipment ***
For student's home lessons I require at least one drum or drum set.

*** Specialties ***
Based within a fun, relaxed context, Casey has developed a natural teaching method that focuses on learning and understanding the building blocks of drum set playing, familiarizing and connecting these building blocks, and applying them to individual expression. He has the ability to take nearly anyone without prior drum set or rhythmic experience, and, within days, turn them into beat playing drummers. His approach focuses on: HAVING FUN, building an understanding and relationship with each drum, the basic rudimentary foundation of drumming, how to approach the drums, hold the sticks, set up the drums, and tune the drums, basic mechanical techniques, development of each limb, learning how to read basic drum charts and play to them, learning and playing the most significant beats and patterns in the history of drum set, and gaining the ability to effectively teach oneself how to improve as a drummer.

Few musicians or music students have identical goals, musical interests or physical size. So, It is NECESSARY to customize the course of study to meet student requirements. There are common issues for any serious pursuit of learning involving the guitar; right and left hand technique, fingerboard knowledge, chord knowledge, reading and interpretation.

However, to progress, it is also necessary for the student to practice daily.

I try to maint
ain a healthy balance between the focus on performance and technical issues.

It was obvious to me at my first lesson with Ron, that he is an experienced and top quality musician and teacher. I have enjoyed several lessons with him so far. He is patient, makes learning fun, great at conveying the material, and has set a learning pace that feels just right for me.

About Shannon
Music is my passion, my hobby, my career and my gift. I have been performing since age 7 and teaching for the last 25 years. I have a bachelor's and master's degree in music and love to share my knowledge and experience with all ages and aptitudes - even special needs. My approach to teaching is fun but serious, laid-back but encouraging, demanding but forgiving. I teach students how to be disciplined with their practice and how to make the most of their limited time.

*** Lesson Details ***
I can help you achieve your goals! For those who want a well-rounded music education, I inclu
de music theory (note and rhythm reading), technique, ear training, improvisation and performance practice in my curriculum using a variety of methods. I enjoy working with adults interested in picking up their instrument after a number of years. Perhaps you are someone interested in pursuing an ability to play a certain style - pop, jazz, hymns, oldies, classics, or certain artists. I customize our lessons to match your objectives.
My students have an opportunity to perform publicly several times a year which encourages practice and also builds confidence. After a few lessons, I can provide an idea of where a student will be in 3-6 months. You can always expect to find me prepared with fun ideas for our lesson. I have a grand piano as well as several keyboards to add variety and fun to our lessons.

*** Studio Equipment ***
home-grand piano in living room seating for parents
church- digital piano and seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would bring my own violin to demonstrate but would expect students to have their own instrument.

*** Specialties ***
For piano, I use Faber & Faber, Alfred, Bastien and Music for Little Mozarts. I include sight reading books, rhythm workbooks, improv studies, and later scales and arpeggios. For violin I have created my own hybrid using traditional methods and Suzuki.

I wish school was this fun

Ms. Shannon's lessons are fun and exciting. I wasn't sure if I was going to like taking lessons even though I did want to learn to play. She makes the lessons fun and she is very patient and not intimidating.

builds confidence

Shannon is an excellent teacher. She makes the lessons fun. She helps the student feel confident in their abilities. Shannon encourages the student to meet the challenges they face. She understands each of her student's strengths and challenges and develops individualized lessons to meet their needs. She helps students feel comfortable during her lessons and makes sure they can practice independently with confidence. She hosts recitals so her students have chance to show off their skills and socialize with each other. I would highly recommend Shannon as a piano teacher.

About Raymond
MY BACKGROUND:
Originally from Port Huron Michigan Ray A. began learning to play the piano at age 5. His formal studies in piano include training at Bellarmine University (jazz studies) and the Naval School of Music (classical and jazz studies). Ray also completed electronics and computer studies DeVry University to stage his background for electronic music and music media.

MY EDUCATOR EXPERIENCE:
Ray served as the Music Media/MIDI Specialist and piano instructor at the Naval School of Music during the mid and late 90's and 2010-2014. His expertise allowed him to design develop and impl
ement a music media/MIDI program for the Armed Forces Music Program. This program played a significant role in futurizing the way military musician's train produce and perform music. As a private instructor Ray has continued to developed and influence many musicians at the beginner intermediate and advanced levels of training. His practical systematic and thorough teaching method allows students to develop quickly and rise to their full potential. Retiring from military music recently Ray is busy working on various recording projects and freelancing as a pianist/keyboardist teaching private lessons and providing music media services in the greater Atlanta area.

MY PERFORMANCE:
As a performing artist Ray has worked as a professional musician for the last 25 years performing around the world in more than 20 different countries with various ensembles. He has recorded on numerous albums with various artists to include the Army Ground Forces Band, Orquesta Sensacional, and most recently with the Ian Charleton Big Band (Brain Chatter Album available on Spotify). Ray is fluent and proficient in many different styles and genres of music. Specializing in jazz and Latin styles he is truly a master improviser and soloist. Ray's style of playing is influenced by artist like Herbie Hancock Chic Corea Oscar Peterson and Thelonious Monk. Ray has also performed and,or recorded with some of the most accomplished musicians from around the world to include Grover Washington Jr., Hillary Jones, Gerald Chavis, Roy Richardson, Gary Harris, Don Tillman, Brett Anderson, Corey Cross, Alfie Moss, Abdu Salim, Joel Joyner, Dexter Whitaker, Jim Lambie, Jamie Abersold, and Wayne Bergeron just to name a few. He has also had the distinguished honor to perform for former presidents Ronald Regan and George Bush. Ray aspires to be the consummate musician.

FOR BEGINNER PIANO STUDENTS:
For students just starting out I use the Leila Fletcher Piano series, John Thompson, or Alfred series. After students are doing establish the basic and are doing well I introduce music theory and technique (scales, basic chords, and technical exercises) as well.

FOR INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED LEVEL STUDENTS:
I define intermediate level students as students who already have had 2 yo 4 years of lessons and experience and can already play pretty well. With this level of student I work on strengthening their foundation and rounding out and diversifying their skill set. usually with this level of student they have specific goals in mind that we work towards as well.

The intermediate level is also where various piano and music styles are addressed to include classical, pop, rock, R&B, country, blues, jazz (modern & swing) and Latin, contemporary christian, and gospel. The technical aspects of playing these styles like chords, chord progressions, scales, modes, licks and ornaments, technical exercises, sight reading, lead sheet interpretation, music theory, ear training, playing by ear, song form, and improvisation, intros & endings, and performance concepts and techniques are addressed as well.

OVERVIEW:
Overall my students that apply themselves usually progress quickly and exponentially. some of them have went on to be professional musicians and band leaders and have far surpassed their initial intended goals and objectives.

Music Lessons For Kids: Should My Child Learn Ukulele or Guitar?
Does your child want to learn to play an instrument? Music teacher Anthony S. shares his tips to help you choose between ukulele and guitar for kids... I have been asked by parents over the years if learning to play ukulele is a good starting point for children who want to learn the guitar. The ukulele is a very good first instrument for children, however you must think of it as a real instrument and not consider it an introductory instrument that is generally easy to play. Although there

What Are the Best Songs to Sing to Show Off Your Vocal Range?
Many singing teachers agree that one of the most alarming things today is tuning in to television talent competitions and seeing nine-year-olds singing opera. Not only are the arias generally age-inappropriate, but they make vocal demands on the singer that often requires a training period longer than the child has been alive! Less publicly, but equally common, are singers who wrong-foot themselves with inappropriate repertoire at local singing competitions and music festivals. They might pick
Easy Ways to Build Up Your Breath Support | Tips for Singers
Mastering breath support -- and continuing to improve it as you progress as a singer -- is crucial to your success. Here, Toledo, OH teacher Elizabeth B. shares a helpful exercise to try...   As a young singer I had no idea how important breath support was to singing. I would stab blindly at a phrase and hope that I had taken in enough air. Most of the time, I was unsuccessful. It wasn’t until I finished my master's degree that I had any kind of understanding of how to sustain my air.
