Relatable and experienced Trombone and Brass teacher looking for beginner/intermediate level students! All ages welcome, no one is too young or too old to learn as long as you like music and want to learn your instrument. We will set goals together based on how YOU want to sound and what music YOU want to play. I will do my best to offer you the knowledge and experience I have while relating it to other concepts/experiences you already possess. In lessons, you can expect to work on tone, embouchure, breathing, rhythms, lip slurs, etc.

Once we have a handle on the basics, I'll arrange music hand tailored for my student based on what music they like to listen to! I've done music for students all ages and many genres. A few examples of favorites are The Polar Express movie soundtrack music, Back to the Future soundtrack, Bad guy by Billie Ellish, We Are Number One from Lazy Town, and many others.

I hope you're excited about these lessons as much as I am because nothing makes me smile ...

Throughout my time at Berklee, NEC, and now Juilliard, I have studied with many great teachers and musicians from Wynton Marsalis, Eddie Henderson, Kenny Barron, Tiger Okoshi, John McNeil, and Laurie Frink to Jerry Bergonzi, and Miguel Zenon. The diverse subjects we went over in lessons and classes gives me a unique knowledge of certain styles and musical ideas. I try to be as personal and individual as I can when it comes to teaching students. That was the thing that stood out amongst my favorite teachers.

About David

A graduate of the Juilliard School, I have performed with some of the worlds most accomplished and well-known musicians, including Wayne Shorter, Dave Liebman, Arturo O’Farrill, Ellis Marsalis, Randy Weston, among many others. Along with performances at the Blue Note, Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Small

I center all of my teaching on music that my students are personally interested in. This means adjusting my teaching style and goals for each individual student. This is a key part in giving each student the high quality instruction they deserve from their music teacher.

Combining student interest with strong fundamentals in technique and theory, helps foster strong musicianship and self-reliance in my students. This set of skills sets students up for success, whatever their goals as musicians are. I have experience teaching students of all age and experience levels, and am always excited to teach new students!

About Patrick

Hi potential new student! My name is Patrick Daly and I teach instrumental music in Buffalo NY, and online via TakeLessons. I have received both my Bachelor's and Master's degree from SUNY Fredonia in Music Education, and music truly is my life! I love listening and performing music of all genres

Patrick was my student tutor during a semester at SUNY Fredonia when I was a member of the New Horizons Band. This is a group of senior citizens who love to create music on instruments. I play the euphonium and wanted to have some one-on-one instruction to increase my proficiency. Patrick was a perfect instructor for me. He was an excellent educator having lots of patience and great suggestions on how I could improve. In one semester - I feel that I made some headway in technique. I would highly recommend Patrick to anyone wishing some private instruction. He is full of music knowledge, is able to communicate well, and has a quick smile and wit !!!! Highly recommend!!!

"Jordan does a really good job... I would have preferred live lessons, but given location, we had to do online lessons. My son still finds them very helpful, which I think is impressive.

Sometimes I listen in on their session, and what I hear is an instructor who is patient and finds creative ways to teach."

Not only was our daughter able to skip beginning band and be placed into the more advance concert band with the 1st trumpets, she received an invite from her well known director of bands to participate in the school’s Big Band. "Gary is an amazing teacher, the best I've had. He not only knows what he's doing, but he is very adept at explaining in a way that I can understand. Currently he is teaching my brother trumpet, my sister French horn and me trombone. We are all learning at incredible rates and we all started at different levels. On top of that, we can all tell that he really cares about us and wants to help us do well in all of our individual musical endeavors. He is helping my brother with jazz improv, my sister with tone and me with musical arranging. It is very personalized and that's what makes him a great teacher."

We worked on articulations and phrasing in the first movement of the Halsey Stevens Sonata and he was able to bring a lot more out of me musically than I thought I was capable of. He made excellent use of the 30 minute online lesson and I came away feeling more confidant as I approach my recital."
