I have been teaching professionally for 15 years. I have a specific teaching curriculum with an emphasis on proper breathing and vocal placement to ensure vocal improvement within two weeks of lessons! I believe singing and acting should be a joyful experience and one that will be a positive change in your life. I teach mainly classical voice, Opera voice, and vocal training. I want my students to reach their musical potential and aspirations while having a wonderful time! As a voice teacher, voice coach, and mentor I have found that music, singing, and creating are almost primordial for many people. I try in my work to bring an understanding of the voice to each person as each voice is an individual spirit and color, helping them find and hold their own singular quality!

I've taught vocal training to children, teens, and adults in the US and abroad since 2006 and my students are working! My Masters degree training has afforded me the opportunity to be well versed in effective vocal techniques. My main goal is to help you to develop your own set of tools, and better understand your unique voice. Make sure to wear clothing you can move in during our sessions, and, most importantly, explore and just have fun!

I have been teaching and singing professionally for 10 years and hold a Master of Music degree in vocal performance and pedagogy. My teaching philosophy centers on healthy vocal technique grounded in proper breath support and vocal placement. I believe that once this is established, the principles can be applied to any genre of music you wish to sing! Classical, musical theatre, jazz, pop, you name it! I want my students to be proud of their unique vocal capabilities and have the confidence to share it whenever they step on stage.

I'm a singer/actress/dancer and I started teaching because it brings me great joy to help students -- quite literally -- find their voices! I teach the pop, broadway, and classical techniques and place a large emphasis on musicality.

Typically in a lesson, I'll start off with technique warm-ups, and then we'll work on a song of your choice. Even if you have no plans to perform the song any time soon, I've come to understand that working on pure technique alone will only get you so far - in order to sing well, you must first... sing!

We can work on the same song for as long as there are improvements to be made and lessons to be learned. On that note, I am by no means a pianist... I play a bit, but don't usually do so during voice lessons. I prefer to focus on YOU and not the piano with which I might've tried to accompany you :)

Hi! My name is Melanie and singing has been my #1 passion since I was a little girl! I just graduated with my master's degree from the Peabody Conservatory and I am eager to start working with students! Lessons with me will guide you or your child through understanding the basics of singing. We will work on music theory in addition to singing songs because that is where I believe the fundamentals of singing lies! I'm very familiar with classical art song, opera, and musical theater.
