I have been playing the saxophone for about 17 years now, starting from when I was in 5th grade. I have gotten to play throughout middle and high school, as well as college. I've played alto, tenor, and bari sax, but I prefer to teach alto saxophone. Music, and the saxophone specifically, is a great passion of mine, and I would like to help instill that passion in others. Although I am new to teaching, I have a deep understanding of how a saxophone works and how to teach musical understanding.

About Shane

I'm passionate about music and about sharing my knowledge with others. Everyone can benefit from music and learning an instrument. Specifically, the saxophone is easy to begin learning, and can be very technical at advanced levels. I am still learning new things almost every time I play.

Great teacher! Very encouraging and positive!
Justin
My name is Justin, and I've been tutored by Paul since October 2018. I came to him without any prior music experience and unsure if I could ever learn to play the guitar. I'm glad that I chose him as my tutor. He knows how to explain different concepts in a way that I can understand. That coupled with his eagerness for me to get better makes him an excellent teacher. Every time I attend his class I'm always motivated to improve. I would definitely recommend him to anyone trying to play an instrument.

My son's first lesson with Paul went well. My son has ADHD and keeping his attention takes work. Even though my son had a meltdown during his lesson, Paul showed patience and continued to encourage him. After my son's first lesson, he was excited and told us how much he enjoyed drums.

Learning an instrument, like learning a language, should be an interactive experience with a continuous flow of feedback. It should also be fun, with the opportunity to use each new skill in real life and on a daily basis.

Over the past 12 years, I have had the opportunity to study the saxophone (as well piano, composition, arranging, film scoring, and songwriting) with some of the most creative and talented teachers from Los Angeles, New York, and Portland, OR, including world-renowned saxophonists Bob Mintzer (of the Yellowjackets) and Bob Sheppard. Through my years of studying and teaching beginning and intermediate saxophonists, I believe it is the teacher's job to "teach the student how to teach themselves" by giving them the tools and critical feedback needed to excel not only in learning a new instrument, but in all aspects of music and life.

About Aaron

I am a professional saxophonist, composer, music producer, and audio designer for games and other non-linear experiences. I strongly believe in the values of listening, improvising (both in music and in life), and treating every instance and detail as a chance to learn. These are the values on

"The first review was incorrect sorry.. Mr. Frixos is by far a great teacher. He teaches my daughter the saxophone. He is very kind, patient and really enjoys what he teach you can see that passion and how dedicated he is in teaching. I give him a 5 star because he explains it not only to my daughter but to me as well so I can help her. We enjoy his lessons and he has a great price for the time he teaches I recommend Mr. Frixos because of his knowledge and dedication to this field. He is a fantastic teacher.

I am still a little stiff with the computer so sorry for the earlier post that was incorrect you are more than a 1 star Mr. Frixos."
