I can teach both classical, and contemporary harmony. I have studied contemporary harmony extensively. We will mainly focus on analysis of jazz and other contemporary music, and use the techniques learned in this analysis to compose original music.
In classical harmony we will analyze all forms of classical music, and practice composting within these guidelines.

There are a number of reasons someone may wish to take music lessons. Whatever the specific reason, striving to achieve one’s “artistic truth” is the goal. My holistic view of education is to help a student find his/her own individual “voice” as a singer and a creative artist. I believe the role of an educator is not to relay information in a detached context, what I call teaching “at” a student, but to lead that student in a discussion of the music, pulling information from the student in a collaborative effort between two or more individuals. It is my goal to facilitate an emotionally safe environment for students to take risks, make mistakes, listen critically, and articulate his/her thoughts. We work towards freedom of expression and letting go of fear. Fear is the single greatest enemy of any artist: If you're afraid of how your music will go, you won't be making art.
A healthy mind, body, and spirit all work together to make a strong, whole individual. The development of ...

Fingers or a pick? Why did you you choose electric bass over the guitar? I’ll help you understand the role of a bass guitar and show you basic techniques to those catchy fills that have been remembered for decades.
Beginner level: technique and positioning is paramount. I prefer to use fingers over a pick to begin with but it is purely your choice. I will start from one position (left hand) and work with the right amount of finger strength (both hands), timing of notes, and coordination. A plethora of popular songs can be played in just one spot on the fret!
Next, I will incorporate some simple theory and show you how to move around the fretboard comfortably by shifting or sliding and really emphasize cooperation with the right hand. You want to make those notes shine and “mean it”. You are the band’s “anchor” and you Must listen to your bandmates (even if you are just jamming to your favorite songs).
My goal is to make you feel comfortable in your role and get the ...

As a voice teacher, my intention is to guide my students in understanding all aspects of their musicianship – as a singer, student, and artist. My teaching rests upon a foundation of pedagogy that employs not only traditional techniques of bel canto singing, but also a scientific understanding of the voice as part of the human anatomy. In order to teach these concepts effectively, lessons are structured based on the personality and needs of each individual student. With extensive background in the study of interpersonal communication, my priority lies in creating a learning space where the student is able to explore and create music in the most comfortable and effective manner.
Throughout the series of lessons, I hope to establish and monitor the student’s technique, in order to ensure healthy and efficient production of the voice. Further, I aim to influence the student’s growth as they navigate the world of being a musician in the 21st century by helping them understand their ...
