Suzuki pedagogy employed for beginners

About Farobag
Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Since the year 2000, the ZSO has staged highly successful performances at various venues in Houston, Chicago, and Toronto. A New Year's eve performance in Los Angeles is scheduled for 2014.

Having also taken graduate-level coursework in educational psychology, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Chicago, Farobag offers tutelage in various areas of elementary and secondary education as well as in SAT, ACT and GRE test preparation.

Additionally, as a certified Reiki Master, therapeutic and/or educational sessions are also extended to those who may be inclined to alternative healing techniques.

*** Lesson Details ***
Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

A child emulates and learns to communicate in his or her mother-tongue through a supporting and nurturing environment. Likewise, a student needs to be sufficiently motivated to embrace learning in a familiar supportive manner.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lesson take place in the living room. Driveway parking. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
None; I do expect a reasonably good piano / keyboard at a student's home.

*** Specialties ***
Traditional and Suzuki-based education. Performance and musicality training is open to all instrumentalists.

I've been playing a few instruments for 23 years, and finally decided to get into violin. Farobag made me realize that I know next to nothing about the violin, and there is so much to learn. I played only a few notes in my first lesson, but his instruction was worth every penny. I am very excited for the next lesson and look forward to learning everything I can from Farobag. Highly recommended.

Mr. Cooper is an experienced teacher. He teaches piano, violin & vocal from basic to advance level. My son has been taking piano classes from him for the past 3+ years. He loves to go to Mr. Cooper's classes. The foremost quality in Mr. Cooper is that he seeks perfection and tries to imbibe the same in his students. He encourages all his students to perform their best and is extremely patient in dealing with his students. Mr. Cooper lets me sit in my son's lessons and I got my 101 on classical music with these sessons. I can appreciate what my son plays and also now able to appreciate classical music in general.
Mr. Cooper encourages all his students to participate in IMA annual contests and puts a lot of effort in preparing his students for the same.

I've taught from ages 4 to 74 on piano in my teaching studio, which has been kicking since 2001, after earning my degree in music performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Students describe me as patient, fun, and encouraging! As your teacher, you can expect me to work with you from where you are, and with subjects and curriculum that match what you are interested in learning. **PLEASE CHECK MY AVAILABILITY BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR LESSONS, AS MY TIMES ARE QUITE LIMITED NOW** I look forward to meeting you! Call Take Lessons today to sign up!

About Rachel
If you are ready to take on music lessons, your life will never be the same. Music enriches our minds and lives in many ways, including expanding our expectations past what we think is possible for ourselves! I've taught hundreds of students over the past 15 years, and have loved helping my students learn to read and play, discover their own love of music, and conquer their fears of performing. I've been described by students as encouraging and fun, and my teaching style is warm, positive, and relaxed. I have worked with many students, including some with learning disabilities, physical limitations, PTSD, and just plain ol' stage fright! I work with you to set your own goals, and I look forward to helping you reach them... It's what I love about what I do.

I began my violin studies at age 9, with my humble public school string program
. I continued through high school and into college, playing and singing with auditioned district ensembles, school musicals, and chamber choirs, coming in as runner up in my high school's concerto competition, and performing twice in Carnegie Hall. I studied opera, vocal pedagogy, and passed my piano proficiency exam from the advanced class.

In 2003, I earned my violin performance degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and soon after, joined the Kansas City-based Celtic folk group, Tullamore. I have enjoyed 13 seasons with this lauded regional group, playing countless esteemed Celtic festivals across the country and embarking on five international tours of Ireland and Scotland, as well as a Caribbean cruise hosted for our fans. Our sixth international tour is scheduled for 2019 in Scotland.

In 2014, I relocated to Hampton, Virginia, where I auditioned for the Hampton Roads Philharmonic, and currently play as a first violinist.

In 2015, I began playing with Brackish Water Jamboree, an award-winning Americana band, featured on NPR's Out of the Box series with Paul Shugrue, and host of the NorFOLK Festival.

Throughout this time, I have enjoyed teaching a full and enriching music studio of students: hosting recitals, open mics, and ensemble rehearsals, and watching students achieve goals they didn't know were even possible. I continue to teach online via Skype, FaceTime, and Google Hangouts, and I look forward to working with you to accomplish your own musical aspirations!

I have been teaching piano performance for 6 years to eager students of all experience levels.
Over time my students develop a solid technical foundation, as well as a deep understanding of music interpretation and phrasing.
Within the first few lessons I will provide you with the basic tools necessary to read music and rhythm.
My immediate goal is to provide my students with the structure and strategy necessary to properly learn any piece of music in any genre, with as little help from me as possible.

About Nikita
I am a professional pianist and a composer. I began to study piano performance and music theory at the Moscow Conservatory School at the age of 5. I have performed in Russia, US, and Europe; competed throughout my teens and young adulthood.
When I turned 20 and began teaching my first students, and realized that teaching is very rewarding, and most importantly, that I have a lot of knowledge to offer.
I am very enthusiastic about the accomplishments of all my students.
Throughout my life I was blessed to have highly professional and dedicated teachers. So I expect nothing less from my own teaching.

I'm an experienced teacher of 20 years, specializing in jazz and classical piano. Lessons are customized and catered to the goals of each student. I believe a strong foundation in theory and harmony will help to put everything in context regardless of genre. All ages are welcome!

About Dan
I'm a professional pianist and composer with a passion for both performing and teaching. I have an undergraduate degree in music performance from Northwestern University, and a masters degree in jazz performance from NYU. I've released six albums with my band, and my music has been licensed for TV (WB) and film (Universal). My last album was featured on NPR's "Fresh Air," and I tour nationally and internationally while overseeing a teaching studio of about 20 students here in New York.

While my passion is jazz and I work in contemporary music, I've studied classical piano since age 4 and believe that a strong foundation in theory and harmony translates well to all genres while providing much needed context. My students are all ages and range in ability from beginner to professional. I teach out of a cozy studio in Boerum Hill, a
nd travel to students homes under the right circumstances. Whether your goals are reading music, reading chord charts, playing by ear, improvising, or composing, I always strive to make the lessons fun and stress free!

Just imagine, seeing your child light up to the joy of music during music lessons, just begging to go back to their piano lesson. Watch and listen as he fills your home with music at the most recent family Christmas party.

Then time passes and they become little performers on the big stage in front of a big audience of their friends, parents, and fellow students. Enjoy the compliments you as the parent receive for your child's hard work and beautiful playing!

Eventually you begin to see him developing positive character traits like valuing hard work, all while making their favorite pop, classical, and blues tunes! You can't remember when you stopped having to beg your child to do their homework and get off of the iPad!

All these vivid futures are possible at my piano studio because of my core value that studying music should be an enjoyable experience. I offer a positive learning environment with piano games and tend the growing seed of music education through encouragement

Eric tutored me throughout the 2016-2017 school year in AP Chemistry. Throughout the year I played competitive volleyball and Eric was always very flexible with scheduling and making sure he could fit me in- even if it was last minute.

I could tell that Eric generally cared about how well I understood each piece of material. No matter how long it took for me to understand he never gave up on me; if one explanation didn't make sense to me, then he would reinterpret it another way. Even during times throughout the school year when I was just so over chemistry, he pushed me and he kept me on track.

The impact that Eric had on me was incredible and I highly recommend his services. Without Eric's help, I know that I would not have been able to receive an A in this class or be able to manage all of my activities.

I learned more about the subject of chemistry then I ever wanted too.... AND I ended up passing the AP exam! Thank YOU Eric!

Whether you are just starting to learn the piano or are studying music at a university or beyond, I have the experience and knowledge to further your skills at the piano. I graduated from Southern Oregon University with a B.A. in Music Performance, studying with Dr. Alexander Tutunov, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory in former USSR. I've studied jazz with Pat Moran McCoy, who played alongside the likes of Bill Evans, Chet Baker and with Scott LeFaro back in jazz's heyday. In lessons, no matter your age or skill level, I prioritize having fun all the while developing your musicianship and answering any questions you might have.

About Ian
I'm a professional pianist, accompanist, composer/arranger, instructor and piano technician based in the Rogue Valley region in southern Oregon. I make my living working full-time in the field of music.

Currently, I work as an accompanist for the American Eurythmy School, the Rogue Valley Chorale's Cantare Choir, and for the First United Methodist Church in Ashland. I perform jazz in small groups and with the Timberline Express Big Band from Medford, OR. I teach piano part-time from my lesson studios in Medford and Ashland as well as in-home lessons. I also tune pianos.

As a composer, I've written music for small jazz ensembles, saxophone quartet, SATB choir, solo piano, and instrumental hip-hop. My musical interests have no limits, and I believe that every genre of music has something to offer. Composition and improvisation are one of
my teaching specialties.

In my teaching, I lend the most focus to my students and their needs. I tailor my teaching to their unique goals and learning styles, and I ask many questions if not more than my students. This approach serves to keep my students engaged in the material and allows us to go at a pace that is most beneficial for the student to truly learn and absorb complex concepts in music.

My lesson studios are open locally to all ages and skill levels, and I offer private online lessons from my professional home studio. Chances are if you need help with anything regarding the piano then I can offer my services.
