For the last year I have been taking piano, viola and violin lessons online with DeAndre. He is a natural, insightful teacher and I look forward to years of lessons with him. I would absolutely recommend him.

I'm a beginner with the violin and viola and an intermediate pianist. I was doubtful at first that I would be able to learn through a video chat. I'm amazed at the detail DeAndre can pick up just by watching a video chat. There have been many times when we just did the lesson over the phone with no video and he was able to tell that my fingering hand was in the wrong position or I was holding the bow wrong just by listening over the phone!

On and off through my life I've taken piano and viola lessons (I'm 46) and was never able to get very far. I found my teachers discouraged me in many ways without trying to. DeAndre has been fantastic. With his instruction I've been able to do things I never thought I would ever be able to do. He's excellent at giving feedback about the things I'm doing wrong but in a way that keeps me positive and makes me aware of the things I'm doing well and the things I need to improve.

DeAndre is absolutely worth the time and money.

Ms.Krisztina is a joy to work with. My girls started with her at 5 & 6 and she worked so well with them. She has kept their interest since and has introduced new concepts in a way that isn’t overwhelming, but enjoyable and fun. She has a lot of patience with them and has a skill for drawing their attention to the violin & music.

Violin or viola, Krisztina was a very caring and nicest teacher I have ever had. Unlike myself she was always on time. Her friendliness made every lesson more fun while she really cared about her students and always been honest with her comments.

I would highly recommend Krisztina. She truly likes teaching violin. She goes beyond the call of duty. For example, she sends emails with her or other musician videos for practice at home, works over the allotted time if needed and if she is able to, sends texts and responds promptly.
My daughter was beginning to say she was getting less interested in violin and before I could say anything, Krisztina made my daughter excited about it again with new things to learn.
There is nothing negative to say. She is an excellent teacher.

She is thorough and focussed and pays close attention to each student. I like her whole body approach to teaching proper form and am unlearning and learning a lot. - Rachel, adult viola student

-

I am a passionate arts advocate and teacher, and am here to help you bring your musical goals to life! I am a conservatory trained violist, with over a decade of teaching experience. My true love is classical chamber music, but I also have toured internationally with indie rock bands. I specialize in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a method for teaching rhythmic movement as well as physical and instrumental improvisation.

My expectation of the student is that they are enthusiastic about their lessons and
willing to put in the demanding work that is necessary to fine tune their artistry. Together we will decide on pieces and goals according to your technical abilities and musical interests. For younger students, parents will have a role in the success of their child’s music education. Performing opportunities will be available since it is my philosophy that music is a gift that should be shared.

I played violin and viola for 20 years. Specializing in the beginner/intermediate violin and viola students! All ages are welcome. Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of individual specifics. For my lesson you will building a strong foundation not only in technique but also in music theory, ear training, sight reading and more. Feel free to contact me!

About Ying
I am a professional violist and violinist. I played violin for 13 years and playing the viola for 7 years. I graduated from East China Normal University, School of Art with a Bachelor of viola performance and have the Master Degree at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee of viola performance.
As an experienced viola and violin instructor, I have an extensive and diverse background in education in both China and the Unites States. I have taught Viola and Violin in a private setting for several years with students aged 7-20 and at experience levels from beginner to advanced. In Boston, I studied string pedagogy and taught a nine-year-old student weekly lessons for a half year with a focus on technique, stage presence, confidence, and musicality. At the conclusion of our lessons, his attitude had dramatically improved in a positive way and he
successfully participated in a the recital at his primary school. While in China, I maintained a studio of six students. Under my guidance, all of them earned Chinese violin amateur grading certificates earned through performance and judging of scales, etudes, and solo repertoire. While teaching these students in China, I studied at East China Normal University, famous for their pedagogical approached to music education in China. In 2016, I won the first prize in the Concerto Competition at East China Normal University and performed a successful concert at the Shanghai Conservatory.

As I was growing up, I always loved sharing what I have learned with others and led me to build passion for teaching. By sharing what I learned with others, not only I can improve myself as a musician, but also inspires both myself and students to have deeper understandings in music; interactions with students bring diverse and unique ideas which have shaped my passion for teaching music. Also, I believe that being a teacher is not only for teaching a subject matter. Rather, it is about guiding students to form their own philosophy in their life. I have never imagined becoming a musician if it was not for the teachers and professors that led me in my life and helped me to become who I am now; therefore, I would like to share my own experience and give it back to the students to help them to pave their own life.
