I'm a senior citizen that still works. I played some other instruments when I was younger and always wanted to play piano and Michael has motivated me to continue to learn and fit my practice into my work schedule. Anyone who wants to learn to play an instrument should look no further then Michael.

I have been teaching trumpet for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

I've been teaching trumpet for 20 years, and I've found one thing to be true....If you're not having fun, you're not going to learn. Learning a musical instrument should be something you look forward to, and I strive to make that the case for each and every student. We'll have a blast, and you'll come away from your lesson feeling encouraged and looking forward to putting the techniques you've learned in motion towards becoming a better player.
About Derrick
Derrick received his Bachelor of Music degree from Southern Methodist University in 2001, and continued his studies in the Master's program at the Cleveland Institute of Music. After finishing in Cleveland, he headed to NYC to study and perform, followed by a move to Los Angeles in 2005, where he has been playing in groups ranging from rock bands to orchestras ever since. He recently moved back to his hometown of Atlanta and is eager to begin working with new students right away!
