I accept only flutists for Music Performance lessons. There is a special art to performing well and making a connection with your audience. I can instruct you on how to bring your performance to the next level. We will talk about your playing, your movement, and even some speaking so that you feel confident and prepared when you step foot on that stage! This is great for overcoming stage fright, anxiety, and tension if you have an audition, recital, or other performance coming up.

I am available to teach any beginning band student how to get started on their instrument, including woodwinds (flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone), brass (trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba), and concert percussion. As a middle school band director, I have 8 years of experience getting beginners off the ground and running (sometimes as many as 40 in the room at the same time)! Our lesson would focus on the basics of the instrument (assembly, carriage, posture, hand/stick position) and the basics of tone production (embouchure, air, rudiments).
About Andy
My name is Andy and I am a musician, educator, and composer in the metro-Detroit area. After picking up the trumpet 20 years ago in 5th grade band class, I became enthralled with the way music spurs our sense of community and creativity. I have taught as a Michigan public school music teacher for

Heather is first and foremost an amazing teacher!
I came to her as a complete novice at 28 years old. The sound I was producing most people were trying to avoid best they could. My closest would actually just tell me to stop.
After a quick assessment Heather recognized all my problem areas and with a smile pointed out what was positive.
She then proceeded with fun exercises, starting from breathing and on to ear training. She was building me up "block after block" into an educated musician. I could feel myself progress.
She made me hear the difference!
Now not even short 6 months later I am, though still learning, enjoying my music with my friends and family.
Heather is very personable, incredibly perceptive, and her knowledge is very well-rounded. She is somebody that approaches her craft with integrity and is always researching new training material.
Thank you so much!"
Jill is a colleague and friend that I've known for many years. She is a wonderful violinist and one of the most experienced violin teachers of students of all ages that one can find. Especially gifted in working with young children, Jill is extraordinary in her ability to connect with kids. She sets her students up with beautiful violin technique and inspires in each one a love for music. Jill is a wonderfully kind person with so much talent for playing and teaching violin. She comes highly recommended by anyone who has known and worked with her!"

I am 110% convinced I am a better musician because of him."
