Drum Lessons in Dillard. Amazing Teachers.

Hey everyone!

Experienced teach of 15 years! I love to teach everything from basics to advanced drum. I love teaching favorite songs, drum fills, various styles, and how to function in a band setting. I've continued my professional career as a drummer and have great tips and insights on how you can become like the great drummers you love! From jazz to pop to rock and blues we will work on it all!

Would you like to join a band? I'm also an instructor at Webster University and the Community music schools so I know multiple setting for performance opportunities!

My music lessons are fun and educational. Students are busy and dealing with life. Music should not be another thing you "get through". Whether you're young and dealing with multiple subjects in school or you're an adult with a job and responsibilities, music should be the place to escape all of that. I want to teach you whatever you would like to learn and develop a curriculum based on your own wants.

I've been teaching drum set for 5 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to properly hold a pair of sticks and as time goes on you'll be able to effectively keep time, and play along to songs. I specialize in rock, fuck, pop, and blues drumming. In my lessons I typically us the instructional books Syncopation by Ted Reed and the Drummer's Bible by Mick Berry. At lessons I have two drum sets, drum pads, sticks, brushes, music stands, and various drum books. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and am excited to teach.

Through my work with the M Gray Music Academy (Macy Gray) and my tenure at the Hollywood School of Rock as teacher and Show Director, I have developed successful programs for students ranging in age from 5 years old and beyond. I have mentored numerous young musical groups in beneficial rehearsal techniques, live performance and basically all the things you need to know about being in a band that wants to be great!

As we explore the exciting world of music, guitars, drums and percussion, we will cover all aspects of music theory, music history and ear training through video, audio and text examples.

Students will be provided with all the necessary tools to fully understand musical concepts and have the ability to play for recreation or at a professional level.

You won't need any books to start but I do suggest a small 3 ring binder for notes, literature, weekly hand outs and homework .

Students will start by learning basic patterns and fills that can be applied to many songs of their choosing. More advanced students will learn bass drum independence and advanced foot techniques.

I teach the basics of drumming (technique, rudiments, four-way coordination and limb independence) as well as any and all styles related to drum set including rock, jazz, funk, hip-hop, country, Latin and much more.
