As an advanced player in High School, I started teaching the upright double bass to younger HS students who asked me for private lessons for their Nyssma auditions or to get better. My students all not only aced their auditions after our intensive lessons, but went on to music conservatories to study the double bass in their own right. I like to think I had something to do with sparking their love and developing their innate talent as my own early teachers did for me. I loved teaching then and I still love to pass on that spark so that this instrument will never be left without well-studied, talented double bassists. I have a double degree in Bass Performance & Music Education from the Eastman School of Music under the esteemed virtuoso and professor, James VanDemark. Whether you are a beginner/intermediate or advanced student of the Double Bass, I can help you reach that next level.

About Bridgette

I am a semi-professional Double Bassist. I have a double degree in Bass Performance and Music Education from the Eastman School of Music where I studied under virtuoso and professor James VanDemark. I have been playing and studying Double Bass since I was 9 years old and won my first Nyssma auditio

I teach both electric and upright bass. My focus is on a healthy and sustainable technique, ensuring fluidity in your playing with minimal strain on your body. Whether you're playing folk, blues, country, or swing, I can help you sound better, play longer, more imaginatively, and more comfortably, and have more fun.

I've been playing folk, country, and rock guitar since 1995, and played upright bass, banjo, and rhythm guitar in gigging old-time bands for ten years. I currently play bass and sing in a cover band, and release original music and collaborations on major streaming platforms (under the name "Dan Easley".)

About Dan

I've been playing music since I was five years old (so, over 35 years now), beginning my 'stage career' as a saxophonist in school bands, then playing guitars, keyboards, accordions, mandolins, banjo, and bass in a variety of live acts throughout my adult life. I've made (as of January 2020) 16

"Marlon is an incredibly qualified, knowledgable, and kind teacher. As an incredible performer who has studied with the likes of Stanley Clarke, he understands extremely complex concepts, and can explain them as well as the simple concepts - which he also understands. He focuses on his students so completely and always wants the best for them. He encourages us to find our own unique musical voice as he has done."

"Ms. Fleming is an excellent teacher, patient, encouraging, and working from a
broad range of experience. As a teacher myself (English), I really appreciate those qualities. Her experience across multiple instruments and music genres is especially appealing to me, as I play several instruments and am interested in many types of music. She gives me hope that I can develop some facility on
upright bass, a dream I have had since I was a boy. (Note: Her insights into how to practice are really helpful.)"
