Students can except a stress free learning process. After learning the basic symbols of music notation, breathing, and simple rhythms the students will continue learning the techniques and fingerings on their chosen instrument. After mastering these basic concepts in music the children will then be given a chance to perform their songs to an instrumental accompaniment. This is good for the student who does not play
in an ensemble to have the opportunity to play and listen to other moving parts.

My first taste of music theory was when I began taking piano lessons in first grade - though I didn't know that's what it was at the time. Understanding the concepts of music and being able to read and write in musical notation has really helped my performance as a musician as well as my enjoyment of making music!
Though I incorporate theory into all my private lessons, this is an opportunity to concentrate more on communicating through listening to, reading and writing of music.

In vocal instruction, I am familiar with three schools of technique: the psycho-imagery school, the "anatomical" school, and the Italian "open throat" approach. My background in acting also contributes basic vocal projection techniques to vocal training. I am comfortable with all genres of music, including pop, rock, soul, R&B, gospel, jazz and opera. In instrumental studies, I am a woodwind doubler, reading fluently and transposing on-the-spot . As a jazz and gospel artist I improvise primarily on the flute and saxophone. My piano skills are equivalent to a second-year college piano major. I can improvise accompaniments as well as read piano scores. In addition to being a certified teacher in Georgia, I attained national certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2004.

My daughter has truly enjoyed having Letha as a clarinet teacher. She has been able to strengthen and improve my daughter's tone, scales, posture, transitions between low to higher notes, and overall technique. This has led to her improvement and enjoyment of the school band. Letha's teaching style has fit well including providing positive feedback on the spot. Patrick is the Organ teacher I should have had when I was a kid. Thankfully, I found him in this lifetime!
I'm a decent piano player who has lacked confidence in my play and music skills. I have just started to play Pipe Organ at my church and i needed someone's help.

Patrick's unlocking knowledge that I didn't realize was in my head and adding to it, the missing pieces in a way that no teacher has ever been able to do before (and I've had more than a handful of instructors for music). I have a degree in Music too.

He is Extremely patient and warm with a great sense of humor and compassion for any person over the age of 5. ( I believe he can teach around that age too)

Lessons are very well organized with just the right amount of information given out in any one sitting. He takes into account the goals and background of each client he works with and customizes what the focus will be. For me, I needed a immediate answer. I am not so patient. My lesson time is a slightly different than others. lol Sorry Patrick.

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I offer professional advice, support and technical vocal lessons to artists who want to become stronger, polished singers and performers. Q. Describe three recent jobs you've completed.

A. I have been a singer/songwriter and recording artist since I was 6 years old! My recent work was in the studio recording my latest single "The Other Side". I recently appeared in
ABC's Nashville and recently started our 2013 concert tour with my band. I know this business very well and I love to teach it and help others in their success. I have recorded several albums, written hundreds of songs, been in movies, television and worked with many high quality people in the music business.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Just because someone has worked with many individuals in the entertainment business does not mean that they are the best fit for your career and success.

Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A. You have to look at where you are as an artist and where you want to be. Then together we create a clear package just for you on things that we need to accomplish to get you from good to outstanding. The training and sessions may be only 30-60 minutes but you will be sent with things to work on daily such as vocal warm-ups, nutrition, exercise (yes singers need to exercise) breathing exercise to obtain your ultimate goal! As long as we set SMART goals (Sustainable, Measurable, Achievable, Record-able and Timely) You will be more then satisfied with the results!

I've been taking lessons with Jared for a few months now, and I am very pleased with the progress. Jared is really easy to work with, get along with, and is very adaptable. His approach is built off of what you (the student) wants, and finding the best way to achieve that. I would recommend Jared as a vocal coach for any singing style, any gender, and anybody who wants to become a great singer.

TIME AVAILABILITY:
My availability changes from time to time. I am generally teaching between 2:30PM and 8:00PM Monday through Thursday. I follow the Gwinnett County School schedule. I will post all holidays and other conflicts in the calendar.

LOCATION:
Mary Frances teaches exclusively from her home studio.

TEACHING OVERVIEW:
Mary Frances has been teaching voice since 1987. She works with youth and adults, beginner and advanced. She helps voice students develop a natural, healthy, beautiful sound, proper placement and projection of the voice for singing and speaking. Her goal is to help singers gain fulfillment and joy while improving their art. She believes music should be fun and rewarding.

VOICE STUDENTS of hers have won university placement and scholarships and have been accepted into Allstate Chorus for High School
in Georgia.

She also teaches PIANO. She has taught piano for about 10 years. She studied piano privately for 10 years and had further study at Indiana University.

Students wishing to have any COMBINATION of piano, music theory, sight reading and/or vocal development can receive a program of study that meets their individual needs.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE:
Mary Frances has performed with the Southeastern Savoyards Light Opera Company, the Atlanta Opera Chorus and Studio, the Atlanta Symphony Chorus, Marietta Theater in the Square, and Neighborhood Playhouse. She has sung title roles in Patience, Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel. Other roles include Josephine in HMS Pinafore, the Princess in The Student Prince, and Connie in The 1940's Radio Hour.

She has performed many roles with Capitol City Opera Company (CCOC) including Annina in The Saint of Bleecker Street, Bastienne in Mozart's Bastien and Bastienne, Nora in Vaughan Williams' Rider's to the Sea, and Gilda in Milton Granger's Talk Opera. She sang for many years in CCOC's school outreach program. She has sung many concerts for CCOC as well.

Mary Frances was a soloist in Handel's Messiah for Peachtree Presbyterian Church. She has worked as the soloist at The First Church of Christ Scientist in Roswell, Georgia and at The Second Church of Christ Scientist in Sandy Springs, Georgia ( This church has now closed). She occasionally directs and sings in the choir, and substitutes for the cantorial soloist at Congregation Dor Tamid in Alpharetta, Georgia.

EDUCATION:
Mary Frances holds a bachelors degree from Indiana University School of Music in both Voice and Theater. Mary Frances was a long time student of the late Elizabeth Nohe Colson of Atlanta, Georgia. She has attended Brevard Music Center, The Georgia State Opera Workshop and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. While in Graz, Mary Frances was a finalist in the Meistersinger competition.

*LESSON DETAILS

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR LESSON LENGTH:
30-minutes for beginning adults and elementary students up to 5th grade. 45-minutes for intermediate adults and students 5th to 8th grade. 60-minute lessons for more advanced students high school and up.

TEACHING STYLE AND CURRICULUM:
ALL: My teaching style is relaxed and nurturing I use positive reinforcement to encourage progress with adults and children. Students are allowed to progress at their own pace.

PIANO: I prefer the Alfred's Basic Piano Library series for my piano students. I find that my students learn more music theory and music reading with this series. If the student has started lessons in a different series, I can work with that as well. I have a large music library that provides a wide selection of music in addition to the Alfred books. I expect most beginning students to learn basic music reading and theory in 3 to 6 months. They should also to be able to play simple tunes in that time. I am an active professional singer, so I have a large library of vocal material at my disposal.

All piano students are REQUIRED to have an instrument to practice on at home. The piano MUST HAVE AT MINIMUM:
IF Digital - 88 full sized, weighted keys with polyphonic sound ( at least 10 keys should be able to sound at at the same time) and a sustain pedal,
OR - If Accoustic - maintained and properly tuned.

VOICE: I begin my voice lessons with breathing techniques and vocal placement using widely accepted exercises coming from a large body of sources such as:
Vaccai, professional level vocal teachers, coaches and directors that I have worked with and learned from over the last 30 years, and the writings of highly acclaimed authors in the vocal field. I also have a wide selection of art song books, oratorio, musical theatre, and opera. My background is classical and musical theatre, but I believe all styles of singing need the basic skills of breathing and vocal placement. I strive to keep voices healthy as well as find each student's most beautiful sound. Most students will see progress in breath control, range, projection and diction in 3 to 6 months.

Repertoire is chosen on an individual basis. Younger students and beginners will be encouraged to not push their voices with material that is too difficult for their individual abilities because singing requires a certain amount of physical endurance. My goal is to find each student's natural sound for whatever style he or she sings.

Voice students are encouraged to bring a recording device to lessons to use for later practice and study.

Caleb comes highly recommended from the Hannibal Family. My daughters (Sydney and Reagan) took over 2 years of piano lesson under the guidance and supervision of Caleb, through the USC School of Music, and found him to be an excellent choice for them. Not only is Caleb very knowledgeable and devoted to teaching in the area of music, he's also a great motivator and excellent with children because of his patience and passion for the arts.

Caleb was a great instructor. My son Tarun started taking Piano lessons when he was 7. Caleb was very patient with my son who can be very difficult to teach. Tarun has had another teacher since then but he still talks about Caleb. I would not hesitate a second if I had to pick Caleb as our Piano instructor if had a chance.

Hi, I'm David. I've been playing the guitar since 1997, playing around town in bands since 2000, and teaching since 2014. I attended the guitar program at The Atlanta Institute of Music. I'm well versed in rock, metal, blues, bluegrass, jazz, and country guitar.

My approach to teaching is simple, flexible, and is based my personal experiences with lessons, both privately and in an academic setting. Namely, that playing music is fun, lessons should be fun, and that students progress more and are better able to achive their goals when presented with a flexible and personalized curriculum. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach; I believe that fundamentals like reading, ear training and technique are better learned by focusing on the student's personal tastes and preferences as a guide, rather than relying on dull method books.
I don't want my students to be "learning" the guitar, I want them to be playing, and playing the music they love.

Starting a professional career at age 15 and never looking back has taken me many places during my 45 years in the entertainment field. I have experienced many facets of the industry and continue to apply the highest degree of skill, professionalism and talent to my full time music career. With an unblemished history of thousands of performances, I have established a track record of outstanding proportion.

Starting at only eight years old, I studied classical and contemporary organ literature with acclaimed accordionist Daniel Desiderio. In high school, I studied voice and conducting with Dr. Harry Mechell and went on to major in Music Education with concentration in piano and voice at Temple University. After Temple, I began my studies in jazz, theory and composition with virtuoso guitarist William J. Walton and worked with him for e
ight years.

My professional affiliations have included membership in the National Association of Music Educators, board member with Atlanta based TORCH (Together Orchestras Revitalize Community Harmony), board member and music director with Florida based For-Kids-Only and music director with Atlanta based Yes You Can! Foundation. All three organizations work through music to benefit a wide range of needs for children and communities.

I have worked extensively as a pianist, multi- keyboardist, vocalist, soloist, group performer, accompanist, teacher, music director, conductor and arranger as well as being an international recording artist.

THE ACCOMPANIST ~~~
To be an accompanist is an art form that requires the ability to cross effortlessly between multiple styles. It also requires that the lead vocal or instrument is supported to the fullest degree that allows total freedom of expression while knowing each moment of a performance can be undertaken with complete confidence.
This is the art form that I have mastered and give total attention to detail in each performance.

THE TEACHER ~~~
Teaching is an area that I am passionate about. Working with young aspiring musicians as well as seasoned professionals and amateurs of all ages, I found many people lacking a well rounded understanding of theory and how music works in general. This prompted me to begin teaching many years ago. When I studied with William Walton who was a Dennis Sandole disciple, I was given full permission to teach the same method and expand upon it as it naturally evolved. My varied experience gives my a unique perspective on working with people who are truly interested in expanding their talents and musical understanding.

Highlights of my career include performances as conductor and pianist for the one-and-only Mickey Rooney and pianist for a series of teaching clinics with the most recorded guitarist in the world, Tommy Tedesco.
