About Linda
*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoust
ic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an electronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.
Banjo: I teach bluegrass, country, and some blues and rock music. I can also teach a bit of old-timey frailing/clawhammer style.
English and Reading: I am highly qualified, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.
*** I am particularly good at working with children who have a.d.h.d. and other learning disabilities!

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

About Helena
I am a native speaker of Portuguese and got my degree in English (ESL) and French Teaching in my home country, Portugal. I have been teaching foreign languages and ESL for more than 20 years and am comfortable working with all age groups. I taught 17 years in Portugal (ESL and French; 6-12 grades and Adult Education Programs) and ever since I moved to the US in 2010 (Portuguese and Spanish in a corporation, and tutoring all four languages at home or online). I am a very patient, motivated and enthusiastic teacher and I always adjust my teaching methods to the student's age, needs and purpose.
I never give up on a student and I am sure I can help him/her attain his/her full potential. I believe anyone can learn a new language but consistent repetition and refreshing before, during and after class is needed. I expect the student to be responsible, patient and persistent in his learning process and I am willing to help him/her on the way.

Cera has that unique combination of passion for her subject matter and a genuine love for her students. She is focused on their success and knows how to make the subject matter accessible and understood. She is skilled and trained in recognizing different learning styles, and will tailor learning based on how a student will best learn. You will not be disappointed and may want her to continue to work with even after the subject matter is mastered!

About Cassidy
Trained as a music historian as well as a performing violinist, I have spent years both being coached and learning to coach. I love deciphering individuals' unique learning styles so as to craft an engaging approach to help them understand the subject they're exploring—especially when that subject involves the English language.

For over a year I have worked professionally as a writing and research mentor, aiding undergraduate staff at the University of Michigan's Gershwin Initiative with crafting their research into an incisive, compelling product that speaks to laymen and professionals in
their fields alike. My aim is to teach students the "why," not simply the "how," and to show them through logical reasoning how effective writing strategies successfully draw the reader along. I strive to put them into the reader's place, teaching them how to view their own work objectively and understand how to guide their readers most effectively.
