During my time with students, I strive to assist them in taking risks, discovering the joy of music, and making progress with their singing. No matter what their goals are- All-State Choir, opera, musical theatre, or just having fun, I love helping them reach them. By looking at different genres of vocal music, we will focus on many different aspects of singing, from music theory, to expressive performance, to the foundation of healthy singing.

I believe that every student is unique and learns in his or her own way. Therefore, I tailor the pace and focus of lessons on each student’s interests and abilities. I believe it is integral for all students to have an understanding of music theory and therefore, work on theory and sight-reading. In addition, I think a well-rounded musical education is key, and work on an array of genres with my students including folk songs, art songs, and musical theatre. Students will work on 2-5 songs at once, and will consider a song "learned" once ...

About Megan
At the age of 4 I began producing musicals in my basement with my sister. This progressed to acting classes, piano lessons, and eventually the school musical in sixth grade. I began taking voice lessons when I was in eighth grade and have never looked back. Through high school, I focused on both classical and musical theatre genres, having leads in high school and community musicals and operettas. While attending the University of Delaware for my Bachelor of Music, I majored in Applied Music: Voice and had the privilege of performing lead roles in Sweeney Todd, The Pirates of Penzance, The Marriage of Figaro, and Die Fledermaus. In addition, I performed two recitals. I was also fortunate enough to be a member of the University of Delaware Chorale, traveling to both China and Spain for tours and competitions. I then attended UD for my Mast
er of Music in Vocal Performance where I maintained a full studio of undergraduate voice minors as a Graduate Teaching assistant.

I took my first pedagogy class at UD and began teaching voice lessons at the Community Music School during my junior year. My experience as a teaching assistant shaped me into the teacher that I am today. I love teaching and helping students reach goals! With my thorough pedagogical training and varied performance experience, I have a great deal to offer my students.

Megan was the best voice teacher I've had. She was very personable and friendly and more importantly, she was very supportive of my goals. She really emphasized bringing out the 'free' voice as opposed to just molding it towards a particular style, which helped boost my confidence. Highly recommended!

Meg creates a very welcoming and nurturing environment where students feel safe to grow and learn.

Meg is a wonderful teacher who I would recommend to anybody. One of the things I loved about her was how patient she was with me, even when I became frustrated with myself. She creates an open and warm environment where I felt free to make mistakes and explore my voice, but would always have learned something new at the end of each lesson.

I love everything about teaching! I love music; it is my life. I sleep, breathe and dream music. I am a Columbia University Chicago graduate; I graduated with a degree in Music with a concentration in Classical Voice. I have performed in numerous operas and musicals, as well as, sung on Gospel Cruises all around the world. In my eyes, the student is the main focus so whatever issues, concerns or request the student may have I will treat them with priority. I am all about strengthening the natural born talent and making my students the best vocalist they can be. I'm here to serve the students and that is what I will do until they are confident in their gift...music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I take music very seriously but at the same time I like my lessons to be fun and a joyous experience. I am very patient and helpful with any strugg
les that may seem too hard to the student. I will start my students off with the basic vocal warm ups and then move on to material that they would like to cover and if so the student doesn't have material to cover, I will present them with material. Being a singer is not easy at all, so I will challenge my students by giving exercises that challenge them to sing for proficient. I will also bring in material that is brand new and ask the students questions about the piece. The student is in the lesson to learn everything about music, so any type of material that I feel will benefit them and help them move closer to their goal, I will definitely present to them. After 3 to 6 months students will be able to sing in the 3 minor keys and the major key. The student will also have knowledge and know how to sing at least 3 different modes. The singer will know how to read basic sheet music and perform it with solfege. The singer will also have 4 songs of my choice or their choice mastered and ready to perform in front of an audience. Lastly, the singer will have knowledge of proper breath control while performing, usage of a microphone, and intonation.

Keanon is a GREAT teacher/artist/musician/mentor

I've been working with Keanon for almost a year now. Aside from being an amazing vocalist himself, he does everything he can to help students reach their full potential and find their voice. He makes lessons fun while constantly keeping you challenged. There's always encouragement from him to strive to be better, which can really bring the best out of singers. Whether you're simply singing for hobby, performing for shows/auditions, or ready to record, Keanon has something to offer to any aspiring musician. He has a passion and love for music and understands it's a gift that must be shared with the world.

I assist with ALL types of musical performance including stage, studio and overall voice enhancement. I help you build confidence in yourself and in your talent and create a memorable presence while on stage.

About Margo
Are you ready to fall in love with your voice? Are you ready for something different? If your voice isn’t becoming to you, YOU should be coming to ME!

I know what it's like to be frustrated with boring exercises and processes that seem to take a lot of time but yield no results. That's why I decided to teach: DIFFERENTLY!

I've invested a lot of time, energy, emotion and $$$ on big-name schools and "experts", to only be disappointed with what I was taught because a lot of the information or techniques the assigned simply didn't apply to me or my goals.

I make sure that my students are not disappointed and I offer GUARANTEED RESULTS and a lot of fun!

I have been the private vocal coach for multiple contestants on American Idol, America's Got Talent, The Voice and several other vocal competitions spanning over 10 countries
. I also train business owners, salespeople and those who are simply terrified to present themselves in the art of public speaking.

This is NOT your average coaching session! This is for those who are ready to finally overcome the world’s #1 fear: PUBLIC PERFORMANCE.
Get ready to present yourself, business, product or service with confidence, personality and effectiveness.

My lighthearted and humorous approach to seemingly stressful situations, especially in the public performance sector, have made me a highly sought-after coach for one-on-one and group training.

My approach is designed to train and condition the entire body as an instrument, not just the oral portion of the voice. My 5-octave vocal range allows me to easily instruct my students in developing their whistle register (see special pricing for whistle training). I have been trained in (and teach) Classical, Appoggio, jazz/improv, Seth Riggs' speech-level singing and other methodologies of singing and speaking.

My method of assessing and meeting the needs of each student enables me to assist them in bringing out the very best in their capabilities. If you desire quality, effectiveness and noticeable improvement in your singing, writing, public speaking or overall performance, I am the coach for you!
Whether you are a beginner or professional, I make sure that you are comfortable and have a great time while learning. I am flexible with your needs so feel free to let me know what you want from your lessons and we can work towards your goal to your satisfaction.

Not only am I a coach, I’m a professional singer and public speaker, so I utilize and perfect my own techniques on a regular basis. I have the privilege of being a classically-trained pianist and vocalist, having studied at Sherwood Conservatory of Music, Vandercook College of Music, The Second City, University of Chicago, ETA Performing Arts Center and many other fine institutions.

Children love working with me because I make learning fun and they have a high retention rate of the techniques that I teach them. I am easygoing, funny and offer a minimalist, casual and relaxed environment for everyone. My adult students have a blast because our lessons feel more like a friendly visit with lighthearted humor.

Each lesson is tailor-made to suit the student's individual needs. Custom action plan will be given to each student on a case-by-case basis. However, if you would like to accompany yourself with a guitar, piano or percussion instrument, you are very welcome to do so.

I am available 24 hours a day for online coaching and as early as 6:00 am CST for in-person sessions.

*Please note that 15-minute sessions are ONLY available online. In-person sessions must be a minimum of 30 minutes. 31 and 61-minute sessions are ONLY for whistle register training.

Online Disclaimer:
When choosing online lessons, please make sure that your system is functioning properly, that you know how to use the platform, that you have a good internet connection and that you are logged in on time, as no concessions will be made for time used due to technical difficulties.

Timing Disclaimer:
Our time together is very valuable. If you are not on time for your session, the missed portion will not be made up at the end of the session. If I am not on time, I will make up the missed portion at the end of the session or alternate agreed-upon time. No exceptions or make-up sessions will be made for illness, weather, transportation issues (including car trouble), or any other short-notice reason. I first met Alex in June 2016 as my summer flute instructor at Columbus School of Music and Dance. I wish I could take more classes with him, because he is one of the best teachers I've ever met. In the short time he taught me, he showed me the principal techniques for getting the greatest sound out of the flute and (most importantly) encouraged excellence. He saw potential in me and believed I could do great things with my instrument. He makes you feel at-ease and really sets the tone for an open, deep-thinking environment (which is perfect for analyzing music). I personally believe that Alex White is the epitome of what a wonderful teacher should be and any student would be lucky to have him.

I have worked professionally with Alex since 2006. In addition to being a very kind person, he is a superior flutist able to play anything he is given well. He lives to play and practice. He is also an excellent conductor, an entertaining vocalist, and drum major for the band. He is a deep thinker and will really help you find the techniques and skills that are inside of you. You won't be disappointed.

Alex White's ability to conduct a full band rehearsal matches that of most senior band directors. He can pull music out of us we didn't realize we had. He has a natural gift but doesn't take it for granted. He works hard to improve his skill every day.

His voice, like his flute, is a beautiful thing to hear too. Just sayin!

Rachel is professional, approachable, and extremely talented teacher! I definitely recommend her teaching an recording services. I received voice lessons to record for my husband's wedding present. I sang a song called "Still" by Hillsong and accompanied it with my own piano playing. My husband enjoyed the recording very much. Without Reed Vocal Studio, I would not have been able to give the gift of music to my husband. I do not regret having Rachel as my teacher and as my recording engineer. I added my recording on Sound Cloud if anyone is interested in taking a peak at what it is like to record music with Rachel. Let me tell you, she is amazing! Five stars all the way!!

Getting on stage can be intimidating no matter what your craft/instrument is, but I teach techniques that will allow you to utilize that nervous energy and harness it into something beneficial. It comes down to
Confidence, breathing, and awareness which can difficult when we are being observed by others. I've been on stage my whole life and have developed my own tools to assist but one can only practice performing by getting on stage. I have studied stage performance techniques with Livingston taylor (James Taylor's brother) and can personally share advice that WORKS!

About Mendeleyev
My name is Mendeleyev (people call me Lev). I am a singer-songwriter who grew up in Santa Barbara, CA. playing in different bands, performing in theater companies and making short films. I graduated from Berklee College of music in 2013 with a degree in professional music. I took 85 different courses in over 4 years with an emphasis on songwriting and performing. My principle instrument was Guitar but I have over a decade of training in EACH Piano, Bass, Drums, and Voice. I have been taking lessons most of my life and teaching for for almost 10 years. I believe becoming a multi-instrumentalist is one of the most important things for any musician!
I am offering an education in any/all of these instruments as well as theory, songwriting, ear-training, improvisation, and stage performance. Even if you just want to learn a song, I ca
n help you do that on your own.
Feel free to ask me a question if you would like more info.

My experience has been totally amazing. I'd never played any instruments before and didn't expect to pick anything up very quickly since I'm older and I've held judgments about when the right time to pick up musical skills. But when I sat down for the first time at the piano, Mendeleyev (Lev for short) gave me a few different techniques both kinetically and visually to work with right off the bat. Learning in multiple ways helped me retain what he showed me so I could begin to build from there everytime we played from then on. With the drum kit he let me play freely and then brought my awareness to what my hands were doing and walked me through simplifying and keeping beats. I think he's very in touch with intuitively guiding students in a way that doesn't criticize or judge. His patience and encouragment has been so helpful in allowing me to let go of my fear that what I'm playing can't sound good or improve; and the fantastic thing is that I am seeing improvement all the time! I would definitely recommend Lev as an instructor. I can't choose more than one instrument for lessons, but he's helped me with piano, percussion, singing and even a bit of ukulele and guitar.

If you want to lean music, then work with this guy! He's good-natured, extremely supportive, and actually a genius. I promise you, no matter who you are, what you play, or at what level you play it, Lev will have a lot to teach you.

I have been performing my whole life. Stage presence, stage fright, learning lyrics, lines, physical movement and how to engage an audience is what I am all about. If you need help with an audition, a show or just talking in front of people I am here to help.

About Joanna
Hi!

London born, LA / NYC based vocalist, composer and multi-instrumentalist Joanna has emerged as a unique voice in the singer-songwriter world. With a classical and jazz background her music combines post-folk and art-song with a poetic lyricism which The New York Times described as "sensitive and deep”. She is a master in the art of live vocal looping and creates beguiling vocal soundscapes to accompany her songs. The Telegraph called her virtuosic performance as "sublime and unique".

Since 2011 Joanna has released three critically acclaimed albums, her fourth, "Blood and Bone" to be released later in 2017. “Gardens In My Mind”, (Sunnyside, 2016), features pianist Dan Tepfer and the award-winning Sacconi Quartet, showcasing Joanna’s “crystalline delivery” (Downbeat) and lush string quartet writing. Downbeat gave this album four
stars, calling it "an exquisite singer-songwriter album”, while PopMatters called it “a truly beautiful listen from start to finish”.

In addition to her work as a performer, she has worked on multiple film soundtracks—her song “Satellite” is featured in the movie Pressure, starring Danny Huston, while other credits include All the Beautiful Things (Sundance), Desert Dancer, Dear Wendy and Summer in February. She is also the featured voice of the national ad campaign for Hillshire Farms

Alongside her original material, Joanna commissioned to arrange a full length concert and lecture "Beyond Joni", focussing on the works of female songwriters of the 1960’s, including Joni Mitchell, Judy Sill and Joan Baez, to name a few. This is an ongoing project to be performed around the world.

Joanna has had the opportunity to work with such music luminaries as Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Kenny Werner, Lee Konitz Quartet. She has toured her own projects internationally, including Europe, Australia, Japan and throughout the US. She is also a regular collaborator within the dance, circus and theatre worlds.

Joanna is a passionate educator, especially in the field of early music education. She teaches with Grammy Nominated clarinetist Oran Etkin, teaching for his children's music education program Timablooloo. In February of 2016 she ventured to Mumbai to direct a choir of 200 children with the UK charity Songbound, bringing music to impoverished children in India.

Music Criticism: How To Handle a Critical Audience

Years ago, I heard my first band would be featured in the local paper and I was so excited to read the article. I hurried home to read it and found that the short blurb was far from complimentary. However, I have learned how to handle criticism and continued to make music that makes me happy.
