Students can except a stress free learning process. After learning the basic symbols of music notation, breathing, and simple rhythms the students will continue learning the techniques and fingerings on their chosen instrument. After mastering these basic concepts in music the children will then be given a chance to perform their songs to an instrumental accompaniment. This is good for the student who does not play
in an ensemble to have the opportunity to play and listen to other moving parts.

I am interested in teaching you what you need and want to learn so that you achieve your dreams. Please note that I only take serious students who will practice at least 30 minutes every day or 35 a day 6 days a week at home. I would like you to keep a log of how much you practice. This will enable you to make progress through the curriculum as you will be a beginner for the first 3.3 years, an intermediate for the next 3.3 years, and then an advanced student for 3.3 years. I will give you assignments to do over the week, and the next week we will go over them, learn something new and get new assignments. It takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert!

Dr. Maureen Spranza, is a great music teacher, my son is taking piano classes with her and I'm very grateful with her, because she always take the extra time to make sure my kid is learning, my kid loves Mrs. Maureen because she is a great teacher but also she is a great human being, she really cares about her students. And she not only plays the piano, she plays all the instruments, I hope to see my son become a great musician thanks to the dedication that Maureen puts in his classes, my kid loves his piano classes, every time after clases he came home very exited to practice what he learned and al of this if because Dr. Maureen encourage him to be better in Avery class

Dr. Spranza is one of the best piano teachers in the Bay Area. My two daughters take weekly lessons with her. She encourages them and empowers them to do their best. She teaches them both theory and practicals. They have participated in an informal recital and are now registered to take part in the MTAC Certificate of Merit program.

As parents, we see a big improvement in our daughters' piano playing skills. They even practice on their own, without us telling them to. All thanks to Dr. Spranza.

I have been teaching Woodwinds for quite a few years and I love it! My students have seen results from learning to love to practice, to competitive success in solo competitions. When you first come you will start to think about music in a simpler way and will gain the confidence and understanding you need to play how you would like. Normally, I use The Rubank Method to develop a lot of technique in younger students. For those playing jazz or folk, we do a lot of play alongs while focusing on specific concepts.

I have been teaching private students for about eight years. I am currently getting my degree in Saxophone Performance from BYU. You can definitely see the passion he has for the saxophone. My first lesson, he asked me what my goals were, and taught me in a simple way, gauging how I was learning throughout the lesson.

My son takes piano from Amber and I cannot say enough on how talented she is. She has so much patience and cares about her students. He responds well to her and is learning so quickly! She challenges him to continue to grow but does it in a way that is fun for a child his age. We think she is great!

Hi, my name is Eddie Sundra, and I teach private clarinet and saxophone in the Ann Arbor area. I've been playing clarinet and saxophone for over 15 and 10 years, respectively, and I've been teaching professionally for the past five years. My musical interests generally include classical, jazz, and a slew of other musical genres ranging from ethnic to electronic. I have experience teaching students from beginning through collegiate levels, with a special emphasis on middle and high school students. As a doubler myself, I encourage clarinet students who are interested in jazz to learn saxophone, as it expands their versatility and expressive capabilities.
As a performer, I have played in orchestras and chamber ensembles across the country and some in Europe. I am currently a substitute member of a few small orchestras in the state of Michi
gan and elsewhere, and I will be performing with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, one of the country's best young artist orchestras.
I have two degrees in clarinet performance from two highly ranked music programs, and my principal teachers include Chad Burrow, Dan Gilbert, and Dr. Anthony J. Costa. I have also completed additional studies with major symphony players such as Michael Rusinek, Joaquin Valdepenas, and Burt Hara.
As a teacher, I've maintained small private studios in the Ann Arbor, MI and State College, PA areas. I've also taught saxophone and clarinet in Aspen, Colorado with the P.A.L.S. program, as part of the Aspen Music Festival.

--Teaching Philosophy--

My goal as a teacher is to help cultivate an enriching and entertaining musical experience with the clarinet and/or saxophone. I hope to cater to the student’s goals as a performer (whether it be achieving perfect scores in solo competitions or simply learning to play a few easy jazz tunes), while offering a wealth of information along the way. Lessons will focus on fundamentals, musical literacy, aural skills, artistic creativity, improvisation, and composition. While I believe that structure in lessons is important for consistent development, I also believe that every student has different needs, therefore each student will receive custom-tailored lessons. The material I use is a culmination of both what I've used as a developing clarinetist, as well as materials my teachers have used and recommended in pedagogy classes I've taken.

In short, it is my hope that I can help students obtain their goals while enjoying the wonderfully creative experience of learning an instrument and expressing themselves through the wonderful world of music.

Extremely helpful! We broke down a piece of music I had for class that I was having some trouble with and by the end of the hour I was much more comfortable playing it! What I really liked is that she pointed out things I would have not noticed that made the rhythms easier to understand. Great advice on HOW to practice and how to best approach a difficult part in your music.

I have played the clarinet for seven years, I have played with the Atlanta Baroque orchestra and the Georgia state jazz ensemble and the Atlanta Symphony youth orchestra. The goal of this course will be to have an in-depth understanding on how to perform the clarinet in both baroque and classical and jazz styles

I want to start off each lesson with long tones and fundamental practices that every clarinet player should do before taking out any music or any practice book after long tones and warm ups are complete we will I move into music theory and finally actual music the fun part!

Jeff is a saxophonist that currently teaches and performs in the Denver metro area. He recently received his Master of Arts Degree in Music – Emphasis in Jazz Studies from the University of Iowa and won the 2016 Downbeat Graduate Student Music Award for Best Blues/Pop/Rock Soloist. All About Jazz describes him as an “expressive” saxophonist, “like a seasoned veteran poised to establish himself as musician of note.”
In May of 2015, Jeff released, as a leader, his “auspicious debut” (Midwest Record), Perseverance. The album features all original compositions of a variety of styles and influences. Jeff has taken an approach in composition and arranging that “focuses on melody and sophisticated chord progressions to express himself” (Little Village Magazine).
Jeff is an active performer on the Colorado music scene. He plays in several group
s of various genres, and performs across the state for public and private events.
Originally from northern Illinois, Jeff studied Biology as an undergraduate at the University of Illinois, undertook research at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, and spent several months studying in the Galapagos Islands. After a gap year serving in Americorps, he decided to follow his passion by returning to school to study music. He now works full-time in music as a performer and educator.
Jeff teaches students of all ages and abilities, and specializes in woodwinds, jazz improvisation, and theory. Some of his past students have gone on to win prestigious soloist awards, achieve top seats in classical and jazz all-state festivals, and attend well respected universities for musical studies. I've been studying saxophone with Jeff for a little over a year and a half now. In that time I've grown greatly as a saxophone player, musician, and improviser. Jeff does a great job of breaking things down to an understandable level while still keeping sight of the big picture - saying something important during a solo, and saying it in a way that keeps the audience interested. Lesson materials are always challenging enough to stay busy while never being too overwhelming. Jeff is a talented musician and teacher who knows what makes jazz, jazz. Anyone who is willing to put the work in and dedicate themselves will experience a lot of growth and learning with him.
