Kaplan University certified test prep teacher/tutor: ACT, GMAT, GRE, SAT

About Angela
Having tutored middle and high school students, I've learned that the best tutoring session is 2 hours. This gives the student time to discuss school challenges, how to solve school related problems, to discuss various subjects, etc. Young students are often not prepared for my visit even when they know in advance that I am coming, so every additional minute can be useful. However, I am totally flexible on this so you are invited to tell me what you believe would be a good session length for you.

My ultimate goal, for working with you, is to hear you say, "I am so glad we found you!" When you feel that you have reached a satisfactory level of learning/development through our working together, you are invited to terminate our tutor/tutee relationship. Let's remain friends, though. Please watch my video. I am the real deal; you
can see the real me.

About Julissa
I am a freelance tutor and translator. I have been tutoring for more than 8 years. I am very friendly, patient and professional. I tutor college students and children. I got my Associate in Arts and Sciences - Psychology from Union County College in NJ. On my sessions I apply constructivist teaching techniques which have proven excellent results. I am an avid observer of details which helps me determine the student's strengths. My classes are fun as playing a game! I am also a Therapeutic Mentor in Catholic Charities. In order to be accepted I had to get a full background check because I deal with very special and unique children.

I would love to become involved and help strengthen the math skills of your high schooler! I am currently tutoring a number of high schoolers and have seen a huge boost in their confidence and abilities and would love to work with yours.  In addition to reinforcing the fundamentals, and dissecting advanced material so it is more easily understood, I plan to initially is to examine their thought process, and then deconstruct their approach so it becomes more systematic and methodical.

I had a near perfect SAT math score (780 when it was scored out of 800) and also attended UPenn. But most importantly I can get him/her to raise her math score! My general strategy is to identify the type of question (Alg, Trig, Geometry etc) s/he struggles with and to examine hish/er thought process tackling these questions. I have also counseled students and parents on college admissions process since I was a counselor for UPenn undergrads for graduate school admissions.

I excelled in math ...

About Craig
Welcome students and parents: You may not know it yet, but stumbling upon my page may change your life for the better. With me, your immersion into the world of science and education may open up opportunities that may alter your children's future path.

I have tutored students at the junior/high school, and college levels. As a teaching assistance for undergraduates at the Ivy league, the Univ of Pennsylvania, I teach pupils to dissect problems and challenges into manageable components. This was my stepping stone into a professorial role. I am originally from NYC, and attended Stuyvesant, so I also help tutor students with the SSAT and SHSAT. Knowledge and understanding alone does not make a good educator, it is the ability to transmit such skills which is remarkable.

I have a Master's of Science of Biochemical Engineering from the
University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor's of Science in biomedical sciences from King's College, University of London.

I stress understanding rather than memorizing formulas. This ensures my students can derive formulas/solutions even without memorization.

I know firsthand how difficult it is to learn programming whether you are a total newbie, or a budding intermediate, but I have overcame these challenges myself and will guide you to overcome them too. I also have close to 8 years of tutoring experience, which will surely come in handy!

About Bill
I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.

I enjoy tutoring (doing it ever since I was in high school for my classmates) and helping other overcome problems that I have encountered myself because it enhances my own understanding and makes me happy that my self-studying is helping others. Sometimes, my students even bring up alternative ways of thinking that I have never thought of before!

Bill is very patient and breaks the material down in a simple way to understand. He's helpful and motivating. With his help, I was better able to understand my assignments and class material. Before his help, I was very confused about java concepts. I would definitely recommend him as a programming tutor!

Students will learn the concepts and apply them through a lot of practice problems. Through the practice, students will have a full knowledge of the concept(s).

About Andrew
I teach/tutor a myriad of topics and love doing it. I'm currently attending the Georgia Institute of Technology, studying aerospace engineering and computer science, so I love science and math (particularly when it has to do with space stuff). I'm super outgoing and a very laid back, chill person all at the same time (being like this has produced quite the stories). I also love food, a lot.

Working with others and helping them succeed has been something I've loved to do for a while now. While I was in high school, I was a coach for one of the local swim teams and had a blast getting to teach people how to swim and such, and the best part was getting to connect with those kids and seeing them succeed during the swim meets.

Once I graduated, I had the privilege to serve as a full time volunteer in Brazil for a couple years, where my
sole focus, every day, was to help others to improve the quality of their life. In doing so, I had the wonderful opportunity to meet new people everyday and see people's lives drastically improve. Another cool part of this experience was that I got to teach English as a second language to people who'd never spoken it before. They loved it, and in the time that I did teach it, students went from speaking no English to being able to form basic sentences and have simple conversations.

Now in college, I've strived to continue this pattern with the little free time that I get during the week and on the weekends due to my classes. Throughout all of this, I've discovered how easy it is for me to connect with people and how much fun it can be.

What I bring to the lessons:
I always ensure to provide the highest quality lessons and ensure that the student easily understands the materials. I'll provide materials that I know will assist the student to master the concepts.

My expectations:
Learning requires the student to put in effort. Any assignments I give, I will expect them to be completed. I understand that sometimes one of "those weeks" comes around where life hits us in the face, but it's not every week.

Your expectations:
You've come to me obviously to learn something new, and I intend to go above and beyond those expectations. I want the lessons to be more than just sit down, do the work, and then leave. That's not a great way to learn stuff, in my opinion. Expect to be brought out of your comfort zone a bit and experience things you never experienced before. Above all, expect to see these lessons as an enjoyable experience.

I am a sophomore biology major who has aced her Calculus class and I have taken all subjects before and after algebra. I am a patient person and have developed good techniques to teach different age groups.

About Chanel
Crochet: I have been teaching myself how to crochet since I was 11. I taught myself after learning how to knit at the age of 10. I have made scarves, hats, bralettes, shorts, animal-themed rugs, animal-themed purses, headbands etc., for sale since I was back home in NY. Now that I am in Atlanta, I have decided to sell lessons so people can customize these creations to their own discretion.
Algebra: I am a college student studying biology and I have taken calculus and aced the class. I have tutored elementary, middle and high school students in this subject and they have all passed their classes.
