I can tutor elementary arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. I am very patient, and good at finding a variety of ways of explaining math concepts, to help students who find it difficult. I try to make math interesting and relevant.

About Linda
*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec
tronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.
Banjo: I teach bluegrass, country, and some blues and rock music. I can also teach a bit of old-timey frailing/clawhammer style.
English and Reading: I am highly qualified, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.
*** I am particularly good at working with children who have a.d.h.d. and other learning disabilities!

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

Awful. I had 33 questions and she only helped me with 2. She kept saying that if you solved it and you got that answer then maybe it be fineasier. I was the only one who was talking as if I were the tutor.

Jessica was great! My son wanted to keep practicing his flute over the summer while school was out. Jessica kept him challenged and his skills sharp. He enjoyed learning both the basics and fun "real" songs that we could all recognize. We were humming :It's a Small World" and "Hakuna Matata" for weeks.

I taught Math at CPS and in the North Suburbs of Chicago. I believe, my strengths are patience and the ability to explain material in a clear, simple way.

About Julia
I taught Algebra I and Geometry at Clemente High School in Chicago and AP Statistics, Geometry and Trigonometry at Libertyville High School Summer Program. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a private school in Buffalo Grove, IL. I love tutoring students of any age, from elementary to high school. It makes me happy when I see the progress they are making. My Master's Degree is in Curriculum and Instructions from Loyola University, Chicago.
At one point in my life I wanted to be a pharmacist, but when I became a teacher, I realized that that is what I was meant to be. I love helping people. I see how much difference it makes in a student's life when he or she starts to feel confident in Math class, starts to get high scores, starts to dream big. Math opens the doors to a better future, to a better career, to a higher s
elf-esteem. I am grateful for the opportunity to help to make it happen.

Our son was tutored in math for 3 years while in middle school. Julia's tutoring provided a great foundation for his high school curriculum. It allowed him to finish one year of a college level math class while in high school.
Our daughter was also tutored while in elementary school. Math is her favorite subject in school. We really liked Julia's teaching approach, great communication skills , and her patience .

Hello,

I'm a state certified math teacher for 6-12. I have taught math, physical science, and life science for 4 years at the middle school level at a private school in Los Angeles.

I focus on making sure students understand the language of math. I incorporate quality note taking methods, as well as ensure students are solving problems with an organized step by step approach.

I also have an extensive science and engineering background knowledge both in-school and in practical application with 13 years of engineering experience in industry. I often connect the raw math concepts with their applications in secondary level science subjects like physics and chemistry.

For high school students, I always stress the key Algebra principles for the ACT and SAT.

For college students, I am able to cover differential and integral calculus, linear algebra, and statistics.

I can meet in person, but given the horrible LA traffic, I would prefer to conduct online sessions in which I can both ...

About Mark
Hi!

I'm a former engineer turned math and science teacher. My Mechanical Engineering education is from Stanford and my masters in Engineering Management is from Milwaukee School of Engineering. I have over 6 years of teaching experience in public, charter, and private school classrooms. I have 2 years of experience working part-time at one of the top-tier professional tutoring centers in the nation which has trained me to teach subjects ranging from beginning reading to high school courses and SAT/ACT prep.

I can teach any math from K-college. I like to say "K thru Calc!"! I have a passion for learning and try my best to light the fire for learning in all of my students. When it comes to the nuts and bolts of math, that's the easy part, but I take it father and have fun with math through story telling, connection with language and with
hands on applications (which can still be done online!).

Try me as a tutor and you will not be disappointed... : )

I am able to teach mathematics in different ways that will benefit the student. The experience I have with mathematics will give the student the opportunity to do math faster than anyone else.

About Alberto
I graduated with my Bachelor's in Psychology and Spanish. I was a student-athlete throughout my education so I know what it means to work hard and efficient without making any excuses. Being a top student has proven to me that anyone can do great in their studies.

I was fortunate enough to play college football and witness some of my good teammates go Pro with their determination and hard work. I, myself, decided to teach and help other prosper and make their talents, skills and abilities flourish to do and become into someone important in the world.

Students are expected to learn every learning session. The students will understand and successfully complete all needed assignments. I want to be able to understand what the students know so that we can work on what is needed and become great at it.

I believe that we are all smart and
our craft, our intelligence, can always be expanded into something much more valuable. i believe that learning should be something fun that we all want to do and not feel like it is being done only because it is mandatory. Having learning sessions will me will teach that learning is the most important thing in becoming successful.

I want everyone of you to become successful and become someone big. Make a difference in life with whatever ours skills are. Someone out there needs us in their company, team, etc.. Up for the challenge? Be the smartest student in every single subject.

Experienced Math tutor that can also assist with ACT/SAT math as well. Math should be fun. I engage each student by focusing on his individual learning style. For example, if a student is a visual learner, teaching fraction can be fun by looking at how to slice up a pie. By focusing on each chef's unique strength, learning can be made fun and each student can feel encouraged because he will see improvements in a short period of time.

About Yilin
Highly experienced and engaging teacher that enjoys seeing students learn and grow. I try to bring out the best in my students by focusing on their areas of strength and encourage them to develop and use their strength in the process of acquiring new knowledge. If a student is a visual learner and is struggling with fractions, then I will use real life example of cutting a pie to help the student understand the concept. Each student has their own unique learning style. I try to adapt my lesson plans based on the student's style. Some like to learn through practice, so I incorporate mini practice sessions in my lesson planning. Watching each student learn, grow and improve is a truly rewarding experience for me.
