The piano is a big instrument to become friends with, and it's worth every minute of practice that one can invest. I make every effort to make learning fun, and I include music games that bring the aha moments that help motivate my students on to the next level of reading and technique. I am patient, supportive with my students, and my low key approach sets them at ease so it's easier to learn and retain. I have taught piano students of all ages for 8 years, and thoroughly enjoyed each one age group. I"m looking forward to meeting you and teaching you how to play the wonderful piano!!

About Debbie

I have been playing since I was a young child. I became interested in piano when my mother took lessons and I sat on the bench while she practiced. When she slid off the bench I slid on and just played what she had been working on so diligently. This began my playing by ear, which went into taking

I teach with an emphasis on learning and understanding the chords of music. Usually the lesson books are used for techniques and proper playing, but the real joy comes from playing the music that each student loves. I'm good at finding that music for every student even if I have to write the notes out myself. I want them to play what inspires them and develop a love of music for life.

About Faye

I am very patient and generous with my time. I can relate well to young children through seniors.

My gifted son needs challenging and stimulating activities to help him balance all of his feelings. I was extremely hesitant with signing him up because he is only 4. However he instantly connected with Landon and said he has a fantastic time. I absolutely love how Landon has a gift to communicate music without watering down terminology but slowly speaking so that children can understand. He truly has a gift. We look forward to the next one.

"My daughter has been taking lessons with Tom for over 6 years - and loves it! When she started with Tom she was a very new guitarist and now she is a proficient guitar and bass player and continues to learn new techniques and nuances enabling her to pursue a future career in music. She is now in college for music and because of Tom’s music theory lessons, she was able to start at the 2nd year level of music theory at her school. Tom’s style of mixing music theory, performance and fun is what has kept her going, week after week. Tom has also worked with her on writing and recording her music. My favorite lessons have been where Tom has put a group of the kids together to learn and play as a band – giving the kids a performance confidence that they otherwise would never have had. I highly recommend Tom to students of all ages – he is amazing!"

"This is a review after the first class! It was just such a good experience for my son he wanted Chris to stay a little longer. At first I was a little worry my son would be distracted and not like the class (he is only 5 and half!) but Chris made it look so fun and easy, he had a blast. He woke up the next day ready to practice. Fingers crossed, hopefully he keeps that motivation!"

"Do you see all of these 5-star reviews? Read on and BELIEVE THEM. Ahmad is the best!
I am a total beginner and started taking lessons from Ahmad in the Fall of 2019.
I am amazed at how much I have learned already!
Not only is Ahmad patient and kind, but he is very thorough and knows his stuff. He was destined to be a musician/teacher...and we all are so blessed to have him around!
His teaching style is very organized and sequential and he explains things and gives examples so the concepts are easy to understand. He provides handouts during each lesson for you to take home and practice between sessions.
I will add more to this review as time progresses.
But for now, I just want to let all the beginners out there know that lessons from Ahmad are totally worth your time and money.
He makes learning fun and I look forward to our weekly sessions.
Ahmad is just a super cool dude.
Don't waste your time trying to learn through YouTube videos- you will spend most of your time scrolling through videos that don't teach you proper technique, form, terminology, timing, concept, etc.
If you are serious about learning how to play guitar, then Ahmad is for you!"

She definitely knows the French horn and also works closely with the music dierctors to provide the best experience possible, keeping my son challenged and enjoying the positive feedback of hard work and a performance well done."

What is Fingerstyle Ukulele & How to Play it

Many of you may have seen this term “Fingerstyle Ukulele” and walked away curious. Isn’t all of ukulele music played with your fingers? And which hand does this term refer to, right or left? Well, fingerstyle ukulele refers to a particular style of playing which can be applied to any song. It primarily focuses on how you play your chords in the right hand. Most songs are played by strumming, but this style has us plucking through the notes of a chord, string by string, with each of our …

What Age is Best to Start Learning Guitar?

Is there a best age for learning guitar? We asked guitar teacher Linda L., who has taught young children, teens, adults, and seniors for her take... My opinion on the best age at which to start learning guitar has evolved over the years. I started teaching myself to play the guitar at the age of 14. The book that I used to teach myself featured photos of a 7-year-old girl demonstrating how each chord was to be played. The author of the book told the readers that he had this youn …

Violin Tips: Developing Your Bow Hand

Before you can get to the double-stops and harmonics, you'll need to learn how to develop your bow hand. Without this foundation, other techniques may be compromised. Read on for a tutorial and bowing exercise from Portland, OR violin teacher Greg A... It can be mesmerizing to watch the fingers of a fiddler run up and down and across the strings, fast as lightning. But the motor that’s doing the bulk of the work and producing the beautiful tone is actually in the bow hand.  Before picking …
