I’ve been playing guitar for years but self taught. It got to the point where I needed help getting past some hurdles. Randy has been exactly what I was looking for. He took a quick assessment of where I was and what I was looking for and put me right on track. The lessons I received were a great value to me. I highly recommend Randy. Also, he’s a cool guy that plays some seriously cool music with real soul. The real deal!

Don’t expect an old fashion teacher with tedious lessons. Randy will have you playing your favorite music in no time! Having always yearned to play piano and have fun with it, I was never successful with instructional piano books or videos. It wasn't until I started taking lessons with Randy that I truly learned to play piano and love it! His vast knowledge of music and easy-going personality assists to create an eagerness to learn more. From the basics to the more complicated elements in piano, he moves at your own pace while also challenging you. Additionally, Randy’s lessons are catered to what you are interested in rather than just go-by-the book lessons. He even has taught me how to play by ear rather than always using sheet music! Randy is simply the best music teacher out there and his lessons are incomparable to others!

Andy was my guitar instructor for more than year. He is a master in theory and practice and is able to bring you to the highest levels. The breath of learning opportunities he offers in terms of techniques, styles, rhythms, songs etc is huge and allows for training and development in the desired areas at every possible level. And he can back up the lessons by the underlying music theory as needed. In practice, Andy quickly spots where issues lie and provides useful hints to overcome technical problems. In addition he offers useful material which helps when practicing at home.

I am passionate about seeing students grow. I strive to be energetic yet patient when teaching to create a comfortable dynamic in my lessons that encourages excitement about music.
I have been playing guitar for 9 years, and have performed professionally with groups playing styles ranging from jazz, country, rock, blues, funk, and even musical theatre. I am capable of teaching beginners as well as intermediate students.
My lessons encourage a strong knowledge of fundamentals, so that a student can continue to develop years down the road with their acquired understanding of music, but I also am also careful to tailor lesson material according to a student's interests, personality, and natural learning methods.

About Chris

Are you interested in being able to confidently play lead and rhythm parts in a band? Want to learn to write songs? Want to learn to just strum along to your favorite records by yourself? I will teach you or your child all of the knowledge and tools needed to do whatever your dream is on your instr

Electric, Acoustic, Slide? What language does your soul speak? There are folks that play the blues professionally six nights a week and have for the last 50-plus years. While there are many exceptions to the rule, a majority of Blues songs use but three chords. Often these same three chords are played in the same order....song after song.... night after night.. Seems like it would get boring right? NO WAY!

The Blues is its owe musical beast! Born of the human body; vocals, stomps, claps, early Blues musicians took the strongest chordal resolve of Western Classical Music, the "five to one" (a G chord resolving to a C chord for instance), and built an entire musical mentality around it. Borrowing 'what you want' from Classical music and adding syncopation or 'emphasis on weak beats' (tap quarter notes to "Who Do You Love?" by Bo Diddley. Notice that only the first and last notes of the riff hit with your tapping, the rest are 'syncopated') makes for a freedom of expression never ...

I teach my students how to apply fundamental music theory concepts to the guitar. In this way, students learn how to build their own chords, scales, and arpeggios all over the neck.

"Ryan has definitely opened up my perspective with regard to learning my instrument and "hearing" tonal options for music I like to play. I'm a working Dad with very limited time for lessons and practice, so an online learning platform has worked best for me. Ryan has been very accommodating and flexible. More than that, he's been extremely patient with my learning style. In addition to opening up my instrument for me, he's fostered a passion for learning guitar and a taste for new music that I may not have listened to/learned otherwise. I love music and because of Ryan, I've found a very heartfelt, almost tangible, passion for playing it. Ryan...thank you!!"

"I started taking weekly electric guitar lessons with Mr. Soukis at his Times Square studio, after watching many videos of him rockin' the blues at various venues in New York City. He is one of those rare teachers who is not only knowledgeable, but also able to share the knowledge with his students in a comfortable and relaxing manner. I have always been afraid of the guitar but the man has cured my guitar phobia. He has made learning the guitar approachable and fun!!"

"Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!"

Blues Guitar Basics: How to Play a Blues Shuffle

Ready to learn to play blues guitar? This lesson from guitar teacher James W. is the perfect place to start... What is a shuffle, anyway? A shuffle is a rhythm of 8th notes played in triplets, essentially playing 3/4 time over a 4/4 beat to make the music swing. Blues, pop, jazz, and rock musicians all use the shuffle. The blues shuffle is a fun pattern that is simple to absorb into your playing across many genres of music. Think of pop, rock, big band, and blues as being a part of the s …
