Hi there and thanks for visiting! I have been playing guitar, singing, writing and producing music for the greater part of my life. My endeavor is to guide you to an understanding of one or many of these facets and give you the tools you need to become your own teacher as you continue down this path.

Below is a brief synopsis about the lessons I teach:

Guitar/Songwriting:
There will be very little music theory. I never needed much of it to write my own music, other than a few basic theories to get around successfully, so it’s not something we’ll spend a whole lot of time on. I have organized and constructed a course book to keep things lively and moving along efficiently. I call it NOTEbOOK. It’s also great refresher material to revisit in the future.

I teach basic guitar with accented professional appeal and rhythmic structure. My intention is to guide you to create your own original music using straightforward techniques. My goal, once we part ways, is for you to leave ...

About Lorin

I’ve been a writer and musician since I was a teenager, and have been teaching music lessons for over a decade. I began journaling at 15, mostly free-writing and poetry. This was my segway into guitar and songwriting. Over the years, piece by piece, I’ve gathered many angles to my myriad profession

Thank you so much Lorin for the remote classes!! You were amazing and I learned more from you than I did from my in-person teacher here in town. Thanks!!
Ewa
I had a great experience learning song writing with Lorin. I would highly recommend his teaching services to anybody eager to learn music.
Rob
Lorin helped me hone my songwriting skills immensely, by not only teaching but collaborating with me when necessary. It was refreshing to find someone who put his teachings into practical learning, where I could see the outcomes become apparent. He’s a nice dude, and is experienced equally across his fields. He guided me to making intelligent choices for equipment purchases, both instruments and pro audio gear. We first met while he was living in New York, and boy has he traveled since. I think living in so many different states, and being that well journeyed has given him good cultural depth to his work. Check out some of his own collabs with singers and musicians from all over the world...that really says it all.

I like to show my students how the guitar can be a small orchestra. The possibilities of sounds and colors that it can provide is unknown to other instruments and that is what makes it so great. Unlike the piano where a small hammer hits the strings or the violin where the bow frictions them, we have to produce the entire sound on the guitar with our own hands. The process is more personal and, even though it can be harsh at times, it is always satisfying. I also try to bring a more creative part of music when studying the instrument, which keeps classes more dynamic and interesting. I bring my own experiences so that the students can relate in different levels of difficulty.

About Hugo

I'm a professional guitarist, composer and arranger. I graduated from Berklee College of Music with a Diploma in Professional Music. I started playing electric guitar and then expanded also to the classical guitar, which has broaden extensively my approach to different styles of music. Each style

Whether you're tackling singer-songwriting, accompaniment, pop/rock, jazz/funk/r&b, or even classical exercises, I can help you. I've studied piano/voice/guitar long enough to know what each kind of instrumentalist/vocalist needs. I'm well versed in a overview of all genres and styles, as well as specialized areas of study. As a writer, I'm also very familiar with coaching instrumentalists geared towards composition and arranging. If you're looking to improve your skills, I can help!

About Jake

I want to teach the material that excites students. After a handful of really crummy experiences with teachers who wanted me to learn a specific way, I stumbled across a music school in Philadelphia and a college in Boston that really got the principle of teaching what students are drawn to. Bruc

I teach positive and productive lessons in playing guitar, focusing on song structure and chord-changing skills.

My goal is to bring the best out of beginning to intermediate musicians using a holistic and minimalist musical approach -- you only learn what you really need to know. Can you pick up a guitar and play "Happy Birthday" in a key suited to your voice? I can show you how.

No note-reading is required to learn chord progressions, song structure, and effective strumming and picking patterns for rock, blues, and roots guitar.

I use a combination of my own visual materials and chord grids, popular guitar songs, and select guitar method books.

These guitar lessons are online only. For in-person lessons, go to my "acoustic guitar" subject.

Zander is extremely knowledgable and has the ability to communicate that knowledge in an easy tower and way. Great teacher!
David Otto
I am a first time stringed instrument student. Zander has a talent for structuring lessons to make me 'work' to see progress. He is patient and answers my questions in a manner that make sense. I'm fortunate to have connected with him. Given his multi instrument proficiency and obvious knowledge base I can't help but recommend his teaching skills.

"I had wanted to take guitar lessons for a while so after some research, I found Ahmad. I've been taking lessons from him for a little over 4 months now and I can't believe the results. He is by far the best instructor. He allows you to learn at your own pace and has something new to teach every week. I had no experience playing guitar before I started but after a few lessons, I was playing songs that I had always wanted to learn.

The fact that he is one of the most inexpensive teachers is just a bonus. I couldn't find anywhere else that offered his price. Anyone wanting to learn guitar or get better at playing should definitely go to Ahmad.

You won't be sorry and you will actually see results."

"Fantastic teacher!

My daughter had very little previous guitar experience, but within 5 short lessons, he instilled in her a love for playing the guitar and gave her a level of confidence, despite her normally shy demeanor, that allowed her to join him on stage in a jam session to play a couple of songs with him. It's an experience that she will never forget and his friendly and easy going personality is a bonus to his teaching skills."

20 Different Types of Guitars & The Legends Who Played Them [Infographic]

While certain types of guitars are standard in modern culture, the instrument has a wide variety of expressions that is nearly impossible to tame. From the ancient Greek kithara to the guitar-like lute from pre-modern Spain, the many different types of guitars vary just as much as the people who play them. Some types of acoustic and electric guitars are more common than others. Steel string dreadnought acoustics and Stratocaster-style electrics are likely to be the first thing that pops i …
