What you'll expect is a mix of sight reading, technique learning and playing, book performance and improvisation by ear for each lesson in the style the student wishes to learn about. If needed, I also write individual exercises tailored to each student and their practice routine.

About Cody
With my two Bachelor's degrees in Music Composition and Technology, I began tutoring students in piano, voice, and composition as it was part of my training. I also have experience writing and editing essays, books, and more for several independent clients. I have experience writing my own books as well. I have written two so far, but am getting ready to write a third. I am a copious editor and can catch grammatical and other errors with ease. This is why tutoring in English would be great for me.
I thought I would add basic math for those school-aged children that are having a little trouble with it in their classes.
Usually, I teach lessons in my home in Diamond Bar or online, but if the need arises, I could surely work out coming to the students' homes for one-on-one tutoring help. With me, most students click after a few lessons and
understand what they couldn't in the classroom. I help the students by teaching in innovative ways that will catch their attention more than standard teaching methods. Students should consider me for I can make learning fun and never a chore!

*** Lesson Details ***
I use a wide variety of techniques to sing, play piano and other instruments. Techniques include straight vowel singing (no words) to test how long to hold notes, using color to help people sight read, using improvisational techniques in order to play jazz, rock, classical and many other styles of music.
I use what they student has under his or her belt as a starting point to see what lessons we could start them on.
I also assist with online lessons to make transportation a thing of the past. If you've got a webcam or Skype, I can do long-distance lessons with you! So, I am here to help!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Alesis Recital Keyboard
Music sheets
Web cam
Mac computer (MacBook Pro)
Finale music notation software to help in composition and theory lessons.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Music paper for away lessons.
Finale for composition and music theory lessons.
Can use macbook for more elaborate teaching or demonstration if need be.

*** Specialties ***
I do teach classical composition with specialties in ensemble and chamber music. I also specialize in songwriting for pop and other media.
I teach voice and vocal techniques of sacred choral and vocal music.
I teach classical and jazz piano and improvisation. I also have the distinction in being able to teach students with special needs or learning disabilities as I have a mild form of cerebral palsy and understand what students with special needs go through.

Ms. Janai was the best tutor I have ever had. No matter the day, or time she was always there to help me out. Either it was math, science, writing, etc. she'd help me with every subject no matter how long it took for me to get it right, every subject was like her first nature. She was amazing teaching in person and just as good online. I've never met another tutor like Janai, she understands what you're going wrong and what your difficulties are, but she always manages to turn those difficulties around and make you better at understanding what you need to do better in order to succeed. If you're looking for an outstanding tutor Janai is the way to go!

Stephanie is one of the best teachers I have ever worked with! From our very first lesson, she made me feel so comfortable and was patient in explaining techniques and elements of the voice and how to train it. She not only brings her skills and talent as a vocalist and teacher to each lesson, but she also brings her radiant smile and bubbly personality. She incredibly encouraging to her students in bringing them to the next level. I definitely recommend her!

Stephanie is a phenomenal vocal coach.

Her passion for teaching singing is evident within the first few minutes of the first lesson, and her empathy toward inexperienced singers shines through as she communicates difficult to grasp concepts – such as sound placement and moving through registers – in a variety of ways until she finds one that clicks with the student in front of her.

In my lessons with her, Stephanie guided me through material that was challenging and at times frustrating for me, but her effervescent personality and energetic approach create a fun and casual environment, which I found to be conducive to developing awareness of the subtitles of singing.

Over the course of five weekly lessons with Stephanie, I feel I’ve made more progress than I have over the past two years studying on my own with the help of vocal instruction books, videos, and CDs.

I highly recommend Stephanie as your vocal coach.

Finding a Spanish vocal instructor on the Westside is near impossible! So grateful we found Stephanie! My 8 year old daughter had just weeks to learn an emotional powerful Spanish song for a performance that would have Senators and some LA powerhouses in the audience . Not only did my daughter bring the audience to tears she received a standing ovation! It would not have been possible without Stephanie’s patience, dedication and skills! We are so grateful! Highly recommended!!!

I have taught piano since 2012. I prefer to take beginners, and I do especially well with younger students. I believe strongly in integrating music theory and ultimately moving students toward musical self-suffiency, rather than focusing exclusively on learning particular pieces.

I have experience not just with teaching but also with writing, recording, and performing music in successful bands and on multiple instruments and in multiple genres. I am comfortable teaching piano, guitar, and bass guitar, ukulele, and I especially love teaching music theory. About Nicole
Nicole is available to teach lessons for students of all levels.
