Struggling with writing? Reading? Getting your ideas and concepts out there for others to enjoy? Try a few lessons and see if your world doesn't open up!

About Marsha
Fall, fall, fall! Beautiful music, beautiful weather, beautiful trees that look like flowers for leaves! We are finishing Halloween pieces and starting Christmas ones! Master Class next month preparation, and a 100 day Music Challenge in full swing. I am currently full except for ONE slot Wed at 4:30, snatch it up quickly!

Goals: Since I am also a Life Coach, we really focus on how to accomplish our hopes and desires. We begin by weekly, then monthly and even a yearly goal.

Each week we also focus on something in my STUDENT PAL - mnemonic. Another is TECHNIQUE. Technique is the ability to have proper position, wrist-lifts and finger curve as well as Theoretic knowledge and application.

I started giving out lickable gold stars, you know, the old-fashioned kind? They are for those students who mark their lesson sheet a
nd come prepared... They really seem to enjoy that, and I adore the nostalgia!

It is a great week when students are nearly all prepared and ready for their lessons. This makes both Coach and student more effective and the time together more enjoyable.

Perhaps you are reading this with both a little excitement and a little concern. Finding the right person for your or your student can be intimidating. A short introduction follows so that you know a little about me and my philosophy which can assist you make an informed decision. If we are a good fit, lessons and learning progress more joyfully.

I have been teaching music, performing music and enjoying music since I was a tiny three-year old. My first piano lessons were at age seven. I have since taught the students of former students! How fun is that?

Music has blessed my life in countless ways and given me opportunities I'd never dreamed of. Teaching at the Young Artists Conservatory of Music; Singing in Carnegie Hall, Performing across Europe and teaching the best students for over 25 years has been a delight.

I believe strongly that those who spend their time and resources for musical education are some of the brightest and most intelligent people around. Each of my students have their own individual goals and reasons for taking music lessons, which we revisit monthly. I believe that my role is to be a support and tool for them/you to accomplish the goals set, working with music that delights and educates.

You want the best teacher, who offers information, example, practice and performance opportunities and then gets out of the way of the student's own "voice" (whether playing or singing) so that they can be free to create their own style.

*** Lesson Details ***
In our lessons, we work with a predictable schedule of balance. We have weekly exercises to make strong fingers and or voices, and technique and theory practice to hone skills that will improve our performances, whether they are for others or for our own benefit. Each student of piano can learn how to create and write their own music in time, choose their own pieces to work on, and have a say in their classical and performance goals.

We have a program of advancement, so you and your loved ones can visually see your progress and measure your skills, complete with awards and trophies.

What you learn, has everything to do with your commitment. Practice doesn't make perfect, Practice makes permanent. Only perfect practice makes perfect.

Learning the piano ought to be a JOY. I believe in playing the piano, not 'practicing' it. Enjoy what you do, and you'll do it longer and with celebration instead of duty.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano - upright; CD player; Music stands; Dozens of music books and lesson materials; flash cards; computer and music writing program; mic and mirror, syllabus.

*** Travel Equipment ***
No travel.

*** Specialties ***
Over the years I have dabbled in most methods, but finally come to use my own syllabus and musicianship. I can easily adapt to your favourite if that is your desire. I specialize in a total music education, not merely in learning notes. It is like looking in a mirror and only seeing eyes and skin. Music has many facets and we discover all of them.

I excel in language arts, including grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and writing - including essay writing, poetry and song lyrics. I also teach diction (pronunciation) and reading aloud/oral expression.
I am fluent in Hebrew, and studied Spanish for 3 years in high school. My background in these foreign languages helps me understand how to teach English to non-English speakers, as well as to native English-speakers.
As a tutor, I am patient, intuitive, friendly, and positive. :-)

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***

Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec

Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

I highly recommend, the best teacher I’ve had. Responsible! Caring!

I took TOEFL perpetration classes with Henry. He is very knowledgeable and a great teacher. Because of his experience in journalism he has amazing knowledge in writing, reading, speaking, He worked on my general English skills first because I thought I had enough proficiency in English while I didn't, and after some classes he started TOEFL, he definitely knows what area of English I was weak in so, step by step, he lead me in the right direction. He's very responsible and carrying. I got a higher score than I was expecting.

What do you know about Nabokov, Achebe, or Shakespeare? Not a thing? No problem. I've spent much of my life reading children's books, philosophy, poetry, dense historical text, and endless novels. My B.A. from DePaul is in English, and in addition to writing literature analysis essays for many years, I also worked with English as a Second Language students while tutoring at DePaul. So wherever you find yourself in the language learning/mastering process, I am here to help.

About Walker
Working with teens and adults, I'm learning that language is about connection. What do you connect to in this culture, in these sounds, this perspective? Language expands our power to connect with the world. Sometimes that means enjoying foreign cartoons, at other times making conversation in another country, maybe even reading and writing tweets across the globe. Whatever your motivation may be, I am here to encourage and guide your growth and goals. I've studied and lived in both France and Japan, and built relationships with acquaintances and long term friends alike through these languages. Tutoring I began first with fellow students at DePaul in 2012, facilitating round table discussion with exchange students, and working as an English conversation partner. Since then I've been leading group classes with homeschool students in a Chica
go Co-Op, as well as with private clients in person and online. There is great wonder in language and crossing into new territory; this drives me to share what I have learned with all the people who want to learn too. Focus and determination, along with the right resources and support, can bring you towards your goals. I am here to help.

Thank you very much for helping me, You are one of the best tutor which I had during my study at ELA(DePaul Language Academy). Walker has a great personality and patient for teaching his students the best language skills. Walker`s subjects is not only enhances the language skills, but also the way how a student has to interact with environment which he lives in. He uses different teaching approaches such as games, sports conversation , and deep cultural conversation to make a student gain enough self-confidence to use the language properly. Besides that, his correct use of language skills enhances the students capability for taking more space, and feel more comfortable using the language. Thank you for teaching me English, thank you for making me feel comfortable while I am talking mine 6th language. The most important part of his tutoring sections is the way who he provides the information about the cultural environment, so to help the students to be solid against any culture shock waves. Thank you again for being such a great tutor. Thank you for encouragements, They helped me to feel more confidence while I am using the language for my academic purpose and among my friends.

Walker is an awesome instructor. He's funny and warm and practicing conversation is always something I looked forward to! He's hands-down my favourite tutor I've ever had. As Japanese is such a complicated language, that's saying a lot. I had tons of problems with grammatical rules and Walker really made me feel at ease with his easy to understand explanations. I learned more Japanese in our weekly conversation sessions than I did in a year of my college classes. ウォーカー先生、ありがとうございます!^ - ^

English is my native language. I have lived in different countries, traveled international and learned different languages as well and would love to help teach others.

About Hilary
I am a professional singer in Austin Texas. I play live shows, I have gone on tour and have released an album. I love teaching people what I know. After singing behind closed doors for a portion of my life and secretly dreaming of being a singer, one day, I decided to take the plunge and start living my dream. I began writing music, playing live shows and training to teach voice. Shortly after, I started accepting students and helped them conquer their fears.

After I conquered my own fears of singing, the world of opportunity opened up for me. I filled the role of choir director for a local church and my music now plays on Pandora, Spotify and I-tunes! I love to share my knowledge as a singer and aspire to teach fellow singers everything I know as a vocalist.

I have been taking lessons with Hilary for a while, longer than a year. I dont have a natural gift, and got interested in singing later in life, but she has helped me gain confidence and comfort with my voice. She is very bubbly and friendly. For me, it helps to have a teacher that puts me at ease since I am shy. She has helped me with pitch and voices. She is helping me work on vocal runs. I have progressed enough to start writing my own songs. BTW, her singing is amazing and I am happy for the opportunity to work with her!

Growing up I have always wanted to sing but never could find a qualified teacher.

Luckily, after extensive research online for vocal teachers I discovered Kara.
I have been taking lessons with her for a while now and she's wonderful.
I always have many questions for her in my lessons and she always has a knowledgable response.

I feel like I'm progressing and finally learning how to sing properly with someone who knows their stuff.

I have 5 years experience teaching English abroad in Rome, Italy. I have taught all levels (Beginner- Advanced) and ages (3-75 years old) so no matter who you are I am positive I have the ability to help you with your goals in English!

My passion is working with people and getting to know them. In my lessons, I try my best to be creative and fun by incorporating your interests and hobbies. This might include talking about particular subjects in English or using the rules of your favorite sport to help you understand a grammar point. I myself have had to learn a foreign language so I can relate to you and the difficulties that come with this. I would love the opportunity to help you in this journey!

About Mary Grace
I recently moved back to the United States after living in Italy for 5 years. Along with teaching English, I myself had to learn a foreign language, Italian. I understand the difficulties and also satisfaction that come from doing this. I faced many challenges and have been through the embarrassment and self-doubt that comes with trying to speak something that doesn’t feel natural. I can relate you and want to help you on this journey.

While in Italy, I taught English to over 400 students, everyone from children to business men as well as beginners to advanced students. I have a TEFL certification and hold a Bachelors degree in Human Development. I have taught all types of lessons including Cambridge Exams (KET PET FCE CAE CPE), IELTS, and TOEFL. Even though I am experienced in teaching all types of lessons, my favorite to teach is g
rammar. I believe having a solid foundation of grammar is essential. I can help you improve your grammar by explaining even the most complicated topics in a clear way.

As a teacher I love to structure my lessons around the student’s personal interests and hobbies. During the first lesson, I want to hear about your goals and learn more about you. That way, during our lessons we can discuss your personal interests while using new grammar and vocabulary you have learned.

My greatest passion is working with people and helping them achieve a goal. I am dedicated to my students and want to help them in any way possible. If you are ready to start learning English with me, book a lesson today!
