*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
Guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I prefer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory, with en emphasis on rock, pop, and folk music. I include arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an elec
tronic keyboard, in the lessons.
Bass Guitar: I teach rock, pop, funk, and country music on bass.
Banjo: I teach bluegrass, country, and some blues and rock music. I can also teach a bit of old-timey frailing/clawhammer style.

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

About Mariana
Hello! After earning my Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Voice from Hunter College in 2011, I have been working successfully as a singer, voice coach, and academic tutor. As a singer, over the past 8 years I have performed at professional theaters across the country, including Off-Broadway and at the world-renown Carnegie Hall. I specialize in musical theatre, but have a thorough classical technique, as well as strong pop/rock/belt training.

My teaching style is highly energetic, and engages the development of the student's self-esteem and enjoyment, but is also focused on a foundational technique and strong work-ethic. I am extraordinarily proud of the accomplishments many of my students have made, from achieving principal parts in their school productions, to even getting cast in Broadway shows. I am determined to help every on
e of my students reach their greatest potentials.

As a tutor, my approach is no different. Trained in the highly specialized and effective Lindamood-Bell programs, I have an intuitive grasp of children's needs and levels. I teach decoding, math, and reading comprehension, and nurture students' self-esteem and independence in their learning.

*** Lesson Details ***
I give lessons in 30, 45, and 60 minute increments. Each lesson will be personalized to the specific needs of the student.

We practiced the new cadence for example of the deceptive cadence, the plagal cadence, and the phrygian. we learnt the basic root progression. a standard method of connecting triads with roots a fifth apart is to hold the common tone in the same voice and move all the other parts to the closest possible chord number. We learn about mediant triads s well.some ways using cadence that I can expand my harmonization practice is in general, when tempted to part write or analyze a chord in common-practice music as iii (in major), give the context further thought. i imagine with this knowledge it ill help me to compose a better harmonize song.
We practice together the scale degrees that are designated by Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...), chor ds are similarly designated by Roman numerals (I, II, III). For example, in the key of C major the notes are C,D,E,F,G,A,B and we have designated them as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. However, when we consider the triad chords in the key of C we have Cmaj, Dm, Em, Fmaj, Gmaj, Am, Bdim. These are designated I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII. When speaking about these chords, for instance in the key of C major, we would call Gmaj the five chord, Dm the two chord,

The easiest way to find an interval's name is to first, count all the pitch names present, including the notes themselves (ignore sharps and flats at this point). Then, find out (had it been missing a flat or sharp) what type of interval it would be, depending on whether it is perfect (a 1,4,5,8) or major (2,6,7). If there are no sharps or flats, you are done. If there are, figure out if the flat or sharp decreases or increases the distance between the two pitches. If it increases the distance, the interval is augmented. If it decreases the distance, and the interval would otherwise be perfect, it is diminished. If it decreases the distance and the interval would otherwise be major, it is min that is what I learnt

Mariana was great! Very professional and able to explain the techniques in a very clear way. When I began, I was very nervous and self-conscious. She was patient and kind and never made me feel embarrassed!

She really knows her stuff and technique. I'd been to a few voice teachers before and they were great singers, but they didn't seem to have to really KNOW the techniques behind singing. Mariana clearly is a wonderful singer and has great training in what she does.

Incredibly helpful
Cindy was incredibly helpful, and really went "above and beyond" in every way. She's extremely knowledgeable and did a tremendous amount of research in order to supplement her work on this job. Saved me many, many hours of potential aggravation — I will definitely continue to rely on her for expertise with all things Lightroom/Photoshop/PostProduction for photography. Highly recommended!

Computer Challenged student gives her 5 stars plus!
Cindy was very patient and worked well with my low computer skill level. The class was very informative and fun. I believe we hit it off right away. I can't wait for my next class.
- Hope S., Snellville, GA

Very patient.
Cindy was able to untangle my Lightroom 6 update snarl with patience and humor. She has an excellent grip on the mechanics of Lightroom and communicates well. I recommend her highly.
- Elizabeth S., Middleton, MD

Excellent
Contacted Cindy a few months ago to help me to put together a slide show, clean up my photos, To say that I'm technically inept would be a compliment. At my age (you don't want to know) just about all these new programs give me the shakes. I was using a rather basic photo program and she recommend I take a look at Adobe Lightroom. I was notified that it would look a bit intimidating and was pretty aggressive. That was an understatement. Well, it's been a couple months now and I think the Adobe LR program is absolutely terrific. I've become quite proficient and the program is so inclusive that I'm sure, despite how far I've come along, it will always be able to do what I need with the help of Cindy. She has been very responsive, knowledgeable, organized and very patient. My lessons will be ongoing (every two weeks) and will build upon a strong foundation. Highly recommend Cindy.
- Tom K., Marietta, GA

--- LOCATION ---
I offer tutoring online via Skype and in person at the Alpharetta library.

--- SPECIALTIES ---
My professional photography is focused on portraits, events, and architectural work.

--- EDUCATION ---
I've had coursework in History of Design and History of Art at the College of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology. I am a member of The Professional Photographers of America and KelbyOne (formerly the National Association of Photoshop Professionals) for continuing education. I'm certified as a professional photographer by Real Estate Photographers of America and International (REPAI).

About Alex
I am a recent graduate of Northwestern University, where I studied theatre and marketing and filled my time with a variety of creative pursuits from musical theatre to makeup design. However, the most important thing I learned at school was that my true passion is sharing my creativity with others through teaching. I have multiple years' experience as a vocal coach, piano accompanist, music director, and audition prep advisor. I also tutor young adults in the ACT and other high school subjects both in person and online, and have seen marked success in my students' test scores. Through my experiences in the theatre, I have also acquired skill in both theatrical and beauty makeup, and feel comfortable passing on this knowledge to others.

I would love to work with you on any of these skills at whatever level would serve you best.

About William
To be quite honest, I have done a little bit of everything. While working my way through school, I have worked in the service industry. I have worked at an engineering group. I have worked as a theater manager. I have even worked as an actor. I list a few of these out because I believe diversity is important. Figuring out who you are and what you like is important. I believe connecting and building trust makes it easier feeling comfortable with asking questions.

I have always enjoyed math. Weird right? Can't help it though. I enjoy it so much I decided to get a Minor in it. I have studied multiple principles of math as it is applied to Aerospace engineering including orbital mechanics and the physical natures of flight. In more of a pure form, I have studied up to Calc IV, Linear Algebra, Number Theory, Differential Equations (if I ke
ep going they sound increasingly more made up). My passion for teaching and helping others in general are the two of the main factors in what's driving my change in career focus from engineering to education. I enjoy engineering don't get me wrong, but it's just not as rewarding. I have always enjoyed teaching. Throughout middle school and college, I tutored whenever I could in whatever I could. Even despite being a math guy, I enjoyed helping decipher Dante's Inferno (Divine Commedia) and also navigating through modern and classical physics.

I could keep going, but the gist of what I am getting at is that I have experienced a lot and I believe that helps me communicate. I find it easy to talk to others and I think that is one of my stronger assets. I like to laugh, make jokes. I can't promise I can make math fun, but I will settle for at least slightly less painful.

Highly experienced and engaging teacher that enjoys seeing students learn and grow. I try to bring out the best in my students by focusing on their areas of strength and encourage them to develop and use their strength in the process of acquiring new knowledge. If a student is a visual learner and is struggling with fractions, then I will use real life example of cutting a pie to help the student understand the concept. Each student has their own unique learning style. I try to adapt my lesson plans based on the student's style. Some like to learn through practice, so I incorporate mini practice sessions in my lesson planning. Watching each student learn, grow and improve is a truly rewarding experience for me.
