Mark B.

Castro Valley, CA

About Mark

I have played on tour with several professional bands, playing rock, pop, blues, African, metal, and country. I now perform live in various bands and record original music as often as possible. My music has gotten airplay in many countries. I started playing guitar at age 9, and recorded 2 singles in the LA area by age 14. I was a music major throughout High School and College. I also learned a lot by educating myself at the Brand Library in the Los Angeles Area, which specializes in the arts. I specialized in advanced music theory and improvisational techniques. I have enjoyed teaching music lessons since 1978. I custom tailor a lesson plan to fit your individual needs and goals! I can teach you songs you'd like to learn instantly when I hear them on your iPod, ...

Everything a music teacher should be

My worst nightmare was that taking guitar lessons as an adult would be similar to my forced and short-lived piano lessons as a youth. Mark quickly set my fears aside the first lesson by outlining what I would need to learn to reach my goals. He is very adaptive to the student based on music preferences and skill progression. Each week we focus on progressively harder songs.

Aside from guitar knowledge and teaching skills, Mark is also very flexible around your schedule. He really makes an effort to communicate and to reschedule when needed.

I'd recommend Mark to anyone looking for guitar lessons. I feel lucky to have found Mark as a teacher.

Very good teacher

Helps you out when in need doesn't get frustrated . Will take the time to teach you how to play rather than to assign you something and except for you to understand. Very good teacher

Great Teacher with lot of experience!

James has lot of experience especially on the kind of music I'm learning. There wasn't even a single piece that he was not able to give me advices and improve the way I play (or try to play).

Also on the personal side he is really friendly and ready to help on any other informations like basses, bow, strings, songs, books, etc.

To summarize, I saw a lot of progress in my playing after taking the classes with James... totally recommend him!

Molly R.

Hayward, CA

About Molly

I have been teaching for 13 years: kids, teens-even beginner vocalists in their seventies! Rockers, an "Idol" finalist, church musicians, lapsed opera singers, preschoolers. ...these are just a few of singers I have worked with, in person, in the classroom, and ONLINE! What you get in voice lessons with me: laughter as you learn! I have learned solid classical vocal technique from the very best . I have trained with respected opera singers as well as leaders in vocal pedagogy. I believe everyone deserves the same useful tools, no matter what it is you like to sing! I am patient and customize each and every lesson. Need more time on ear training? No problem . How about beginning music theory? I can help with that, too. Are you feeling more confident, and want to focus more on song ...

Molly is a wonderful teacher. She is very encouraging, active and creative. I have been studying in Molly's studio for a year now. I feel that I made a huge progress from point zero thankful to her patience and great positive attitude. Molly makes our lessons very engaging and fun learning experience. I felt at home from the very first lessons. And I consider myself a shy person! She always invents new interesting and challenging warm ups that help me strengthen and extend the range. She has a strong solid technique. Molly is also very attentive and if I don't understand the point right away, she will take time to explain it for me plain and simple. I had big doubts on wether I should take voice lessons in opera and classical genres being 22 years old, but Molly made me feel more and more confident each lesson. I am now sure that the decision to have classes with Molly was perfectly right for me! Thank you for introducing me to the marvelous world of classical singing and inspiration through every step!

Molly is the best voice teacher I have ever had! She's very positive and supportive. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable in both singing and acting, but she always makes sure the class is fun. If you want singing to feel natural and easy, while also sounding amazing, she is the perfect teacher. Every time I come out of her class I feel like I've learned something new and useful. I am forever grateful that my mom found her for me! She is truly amazing!

Kahn is an amazing teacher. My 5th grade son really enjoys him and his saxophone lessons....and my son is not the "student" type. Kahn is very professional and very pleasant to work with. My son is loving saxophone, and I think it's all because of Kahn!
