"I am in my mid-20s, and I just started to learn piano. I do have an experience of learning piano as a little kid, but it wasn't fun. It was tedious, non-i
nspiring, and simply boring. Since I slowly developed interest in classical music as I grew up, learning to play piano is one thing I wanted to do for quite a long time.
Nevertheless, I had plenty of anxiety starting something new as an adult. Aside of that, I don't own a piano, and most of the lessons seemed to be dedicated to children.
As a new year's resolution, I determined to find a way to learn. Then I found 'takelessons', which makes paying for and scheduling/rescheduling lessons an easy task. Subsequently I found Manda, who had excellent qualifications and credentials, along with near-perfect reviews.
Now I am very happy that I started and I feel extremely lucky to have Manda as my first-as-a-grownup teacher. She is very knowledgeable and forgiving. These qualities of her makes learning piano very interesting, which is often not the case since inevitably a lot of repetition follows with learning.
What used to be an awful Monday, which most grownups would agree on, transformed to an exciting time to explore a part of the world I haven't exposed to that much. Juggling work and practice isn't so bad as I thought so far. I look forward to keep learning from Manda, to accomplish my goal of playing piano pieces that I love listening to."

"Eric Lebrun is a knowledgeable, creative, and friendly clarinet teacher. He related very well to our 12/13 year old daughter. His teaching style is nont
raditional and highly motivates young music students to practice playing their instruments. He offers his students a large range of music genres to maintain their interest and improve their playing skills. Eric was very reliable and flexible with scheduling lessons. His broad experience in the music industry also was an asset when we needed assistance in recording audition pieces. Our family would highly recommend Eric as clarinet teacher!!"

I've never taken lessons before so I have nothing to compare it to, but Ben has exceeded all my expectations. He is knowledgeable, highly skilled, friendly and focused. I knew absolutely nothing about piano except that I have wanted to play all my life. I have had 3 lessons and, though I can't play Chopin, I am amazed at what I have learned. I am very pleased and would highly recommend lessons with Ben.

sson Details *** No matter your age or skill level, my goal is to help you succeed and have a great time along the way! One of the amazing things about practicing music is that it is one of the few activities that engages both the left and the right brain at the same time! With that in mind, my teaching places equal importance on developing both strong technique, and creativity. Students learn all the basics of music while spending time developing strong ensemble skills and background knowledge of style and repertoire so they may enjoy music in a variety of settings, all their lives!
Children: (guitar, piano, or general music) I approach teaching music by knowing and understanding the student's musical goals and teaching the basics of music theory and technique through the style(s) of music that the student wants to learn. Beginners will learn basic techniques and chords through simple songs in order to be able to play music as quickly as possible...because hearing yourself make a good musical sound is he best motivator!
Voice Students (starting in 5th grade): Weather you would like voice lessons to prepare you for that big audition or would just like to learn to sing for your own enjoyment, you are in the right place. No matter what skill level the student, I know it is important as a teacher to be encouraging and constructive, always doing my best to point out good sound in my students while taking note of areas of need. I strive to teach at a high level so my students become not only great performers, but quality musicians. In addition, I believe students excel most when singing music that they enjoy, so I make it a strong point to incorporate a balance of both student and teacher repertoire selections.
*** Studio Equipment *** Living room studio with piano, guitars, and seating for parents.
*** Travel Equipment *** I have guitars, a keyboard, music stand, and a library of sheet music available for my students although I do require students to practice at home on their own personal guitar or keyboard/piano. Students will also be required to purchase necessary piano/guitar/voice books/music needed for lessons.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in teaching children's guitar, piano, and general music (adapted for special needs if needed), and classical voice (5th grade and up).

My lessons experience was very helpful and fun.
I am SO glad that Kameri was the teacher I chose to take voice lessons with. She was incredibly kind, encouraging, and helpful as she taught me the aspects of singing that I wanted to learn. She always stayed in communication with me, making sure that we were still able to meet for lessons and being willing to switch practice days if needed. The lessons were a ton of fun and we laughed a lot when something "embarrassing" or weird happened. I felt very comfortable with her and would recommend her to anyone else looking to take lessons in the music fields she teaches. I wish I could afford to take more lessons because it was very enjoyable! Thanks Kameri for a great couple of months of voice lessons and for all your great advice! I definitely needed the push and encouragement. (:

Great teacher and loads of fun!
I've been taking lessons from Steve for almost 8 years (that in itself should say much about his instruction!). He is able to teach whatever category of music to any person at any level be it acoustic, electric, or theory. I would highly recommend Steve for any age group and for the novice or experienced player wanting to improve. After the many years learning from Steve I wouldn't think of taking lessons from anyone else!
I am a lead guitar player and multi instrumentalist of over 15 years, and would love to teach you everything I know!
I have been studying music for over 20 years, through school and college, on my own, and with private instructors including Toby Walker, Anthony Wellington, and Buddy Charleton. I consider my main instrument to be guitar- I have been playing for about 16 years, and am comfortable in just about any professional situation on my instrument. I play lead guitar, rhythm, etc. We can go over many techniques and subjects to help you become more versatile and well rounded: including
ostinato picking, slide/open tunings, improvisation, and composition.
I also teach pedal steel guitar, I have studied for about 8 years, some of that time was with world renowned steel guitarist, Buddy Charleton.
Each lesson is eagerly tailored to the student's strengths and needs in order to help them learn to the best of their ability, and ultimately, have fun!
As a student of mine, you will come to understand that music is a language, and we want to give you the tools and resources that you need in order to speak and understand that language fluently. Prioritizing your interests and genres that you prefer, we will expand in areas where you seek improvement, as well as incorporating ear training, music theory, and new exercises and techniques specific to your skill level and instrument. Each lesson is tailored to each student's learning style. From reading music and ear training, to writing counterpoint and mastering improvisational techniques, together we will find ways to help you grow as a musician. :)
*** Lesson Details *** When we schedule our first lesson, I will ask you a few questions about your interests, goals in taking lessons, and your priorities related to music. This way, I can be sure to tailor the lesson to meet your expectations and goals.
Generally, my lessons lean towards feeling laid back, and no pressure... along with positive energy and passion for music!
Curriculum is catered to the student, and based on student goals and priorities. Jazz studies will differ from studying rock n roll, as well as classical, etc. Once we have an introductory lesson, I will be able to review with you the materials, passages, postures, techniques, and music we will be working with. You always are encouraged to have a say in what you want to learn, whether it is your 1st or your 50th lesson.
***Skype Equipment Needed*** Computer, good internet connection, instrument, 1 hour
*** Travel Equipment Liz will provide/student can provide*** guitars, metronome, recording device
*** Specialties *** I teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced students in genres including jazz, rock, metal, classical, funk, blues, country, pop, and more, on a handful of instruments including lead guitar, rhythm guitar, slide guitar, ukulele, and pedal steel guitar.

I've been taking lessons from teacher Liz for a couple of years now but I've also had the chance to meet and play with all the other teachers as well. These are wonderful people dedicated to helping you discover or improve your inner musician. I've gone from complete beginner to being able to play and lead songs in the group jam sessions under their tutelage. It's been a great journey and I could not have asked for better inspiration and guidance. I'd give then more stars if it was an option.
Christine March 16, 2016
I have been taking lessons with Liz for about a year and a half. She is an amazing teacher! I am fortunate to have an instructor who knows my interests and goals as it relates to music. I have always had a passion for music, and Liz has made me realize that my passion can only grow further as I am learning how to create music on my own. She is encouraging and patient and knows just when and how to challenge me to reach the next step in my journey. It has been life changing. I can't thank her enough!
