Started studying music harmony and theory in high school. Continued through college and self study of jazz theory.

About Randall
My love of music and musical talent was discovered when I was just five years old. An uncle gave me a plastic recorder and, without lessons or help from anyone, I was playing melodies within days. Soon after I started taking private lessons on Saxophone and Clarinet.
I played my first paying job at age 14.
When I was 15, my private instructor, asked me if I would be interested in teaching. He put me on the County list of private instructors and and soon I had my own thriving studio of Sax and Clarinet students. From that time on, I have almost continuously been involved in music education.
Though I had listened to the rock "guitar gods" of the 60's I never became interested the guitar until, at the age of 15, I first heard Maestro Andres Segovia through his televised master classes. About the same time, I was amazed by the chord
melody genius of jazz artists like George Van Eps, Joe Pass, and Bucky Pizzarelli. It was then I realized that the guitar could be an "orchestra."
In the small town where I grew up, there were no guitar teachers so I studied with outstanding Guitarist Ed McGuire. Later, I studied formally with several renowned professors of guitar, including Bruce Holzman at FSU and Randy Reed, a professor at Duke University in Durham North Carolina.
I have also performed in Master Classes for Classical Guitarists Atigoni Goni and Dimitri Diatchenko.
Before making North Florida my home, I toured and played throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Southeast in a variety of venues and styles from Rock to Jazz to R&B.
Even after settling down I have stayed active in the music business, playing and teaching. I continue to work regularly performing solo, or in ensembles throughout Florida from Tallahassee to Jacksonville.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back teacher who prefers to motivate my students by instilling my love of, and enthusiasm for, music in them rather than using any kind of "scare" tactics. I had a very few "knuckle rapper" style teachers over the years and found them to be very unmotivating.
A large percentage of the progress a student makes happens between the lessons. The more they practice, the faster they improve.
I also believe in building a solid foundation that my students can build upon. A good teacher teaches a student how to teach themselves.
On guitar, I encourage, but don't insist on, my students learning to read music. Some styles of guitar do not require it, but I do mention the gigs I have gotten over the years because I could read.
On all instruments, I am a big believer in great technique, musicianship and improvisational skills.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Studio is in back of the house as an addition. It has its own separate entrance and is approx 160 sq feet. Well lit and with heat and air.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide a music stand if needed. Students must have their own instrument. They will need to get their own books, though I do provide much supplemental material.

*** Specialties ***
Jazz, Classical, Blues, Flamenco

I found Zach through 'take lessons' after my daughter had a few years with an intense classical pianist. I want my daughter to have fun and appreciate music and not feel the intense pressure she was feeling with our previous instructor. Zach was the perfect choice. My daughter loves her lessons. Zach does take time off for his professional endevors. Good for him. He has always let us know and connected with us when he returns.

About Ashley
I am a classically trained opera singer but my passion is singing musical theatre and acting in shows! With my knowledge of theory I've also discovered a passion in songwriting and performing my own music.

I've been lucky enough to do several types of theatre in NYC and in regional theatre across the country while maintaining a faithful student base back in NYC. I've studied with some of Manhattan's finest vocal teachers at both Manhattan School of Music and CAP21 Conservatory in classical and theatre styles and taken masterclasses with some of the biggest casting directors and agents in New York City including Sheri Sanders of "Rock the Audition", Stephen Kopel (CD from Broadway's "Beautiful"), Duncan Stewart (CD from Broadway's "Pippin" and "Chicago") and Joy Dewing (CD from Broadway tour "Mamma Mia").

In addition to singing and
acting, I've been fortunate enough to work in some fantastic music programs in New York City. I taught voice, guitar, and piano as School of Rock NYC (yep based on the movie) and now currently teach at the musical theatre teen conservatory 'Applause'. I am looking to build more into my private studio and hope to find students that not only want to take lessons, but participate in masterclasses, and given enough people, put on live singing events at cool, and hip venues in the city! I want my lessons to be something everyone can not only learn from, grow, but also experience by doing it. Your level of experience, musicianship, and age doesn't matter. Come to class willing to learn, and I promise you will get the most out of your singing lessons!

Masterclasses Taught:
University of Maine - Preparing the Audition
Penobscot Theatre - Singing with Power
School of Rock - Songwriting 101
School of Rock - Vocals for Any Decade

Patrick is the Organ teacher I should have had when I was a kid. Thankfully, I found him in this lifetime!
I'm a decent piano player who has lacked confidence in my play and music skills. I have just started to play Pipe Organ at my church and i needed someone's help.

Patrick's unlocking knowledge that I didn't realize was in my head and adding to it, the missing pieces in a way that no teacher has ever been able to do before (and I've had more than a handful of instructors for music). I have a degree in Music too.

He is Extremely patient and warm with a great sense of humor and compassion for any person over the age of 5. ( I believe he can teach around that age too)

Lessons are very well organized with just the right amount of information given out in any one sitting. He takes into account the goals and background of each client he works with and customizes what the focus will be. For me, I needed a immediate answer. I am not so patient. My lesson time is a slightly different than others. lol Sorry Patrick.

I am so grateful to study with and wholeheartedly recommend him to Anyone (professional to novice) searching for Organ /keyboard lessons with a teacher who will meet you where you are at and take you to the next level. Check him now!

Am a beginner with musical background on other instruments. Have only had one lesson so far, but it was great. Kristilyn communicates concepts simply and clearly and puts you at ease. A true educator, she understand where you are having problems and knows how to help you fix them. She not only explains the 'how,' but also the 'why,' and teaches with comparisons to common every day actions to illustrate concepts as they relate to playing the bassoon. She answered questions before my lesson, which greatly aided me as I was deciding which brand and model bassoon to buy. I feel lucky to have found such a person to take on a bassoon beginner. Can hardly wait to advance to be able to mine the knowledge and experience of this resource in more depth.

Whether a beginner or an advanced musician, I love working with students of any age and skill level. I tailor each lesson to specifically fit the student’s skills and interests, making sure that they are not only progressing but enjoying the process of making music.

About Taylor
I'm a video game composer who loves working with students of any age and skill level, whether they are beginning to compose for the first time or have been composing for years. Getting people started composing and watching them discover that they have a lot to say through music, is such a joy of mine. I tailor each lesson to specifically fit the student’s skills and interests, making sure that they are not only progressing but enjoying the process of making music.

My students have gone on to record their music in the Netherlands, write a musical that was performed at their college, write a song for their middle school talent show, score a short film - and much more!

With me, students can learn:

• Composition (any style: jazz, classical, pop – you name it, we can do it!)
• Composing for film, T.V. and video games
• How to us
e music composition software (Logic, Digital Performer, Cubase, Studio One, Pro Tools, Ableton etc.)
• Music theory
• Songwriting
• Music production
• How to use music notation software (write out your parts, charts, lead sheets etc. so that others can play your original compositions)
• Classical percussion techniques

Students can expect to have a lot of fun learning with me! We can write soundtracks, band pieces, solo pieces - whatever the student finds most interesting.

I am a student at Belmont who has recently gone through theory myself so it is still very fresh in my head and use it regularly in my own works. Able to help teach in conventional and unconventional ways.

About Matthew
Hello!
My name is Matthew and I am a student at Belmont University studying everything that has to do with Bass. I am 20 years old and have extensive experience teaching people of all ages both music and sports! I am very relaxed and understand the desire to learn songs and things you enjoy hearing on the radio over scales and arpeggios. Through what you enjoy listening to and playing we can incorporate everything else, such as scales and arpeggios, to help you gain an understanding for the reason music sounds the way it does and how the bass influences that! Look forward to hearing from you all and helping you become the best bass player that you can be!

About Katie
I love to inspire students to practice, that is where the real magic happens. I love to see them not only set goals for themselves but reach them. I am willing to do whatever it takes to see them succeed. I love working with people and encouraging them. I have been a horn player since August 2007. I am studying french horn at Grand Valley State University but am also efficient in euphonium, piano, music theory, aural (reading rhythms and reciting them aloud), and trumpet.
