Learning to play a woodwind instrument takes practice and persistence. The clarinet, like most other woodwind instruments uses similar fingering as the recorder, an instrument most children begin learning in 3rd grade. The clarinetist learns tonguing, breath support and rhythm as well as music theory and performance. The student will learn major and minor scales as well as key signatures and time signatures.

About Jill
Jill holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and has master's work in choral music and Orff-Schulwerk. For many years Jill has taught private and group music lessons to all ages with many varying styles of singing and instrumental music. Her lessons are unlike the ones she remembers from childhood; Jill's lessons are full of creativity, fun and excitement. It is amazing how students improve with each lesson. Jill brings more than just technique to the studio, she strives to find the best in each student and then concentrates on improving each individual's strengths and then delves into ways to correct the weaknesses.

Since Jill is a vocal soloist, instrumentalist, accompanist and music director, she knows what it takes to prepare and rehearse and therefore she makes it clear which concept the student will be working on during
the lesson. With an instrumental and choral background, Jill brings music to life and then shares with the students how to keep music in their lives forever. Many students who had vocal problems have achieved vocal success after taking several lessons with Jill and learning to keep their voices healthy for the rest of their lives.

Jill has worked with children, teens and adults in many schools, churches and after school programs that she designed. Her success with students who are very young or students who come with disabilities or autistic spectrum diagnosis are moved by the music Jill creates. With the help of the ORFF-SCHULWERK certification, Jill has many ways of reaching children through the use of instruments, rhythm activities, games and other fun ways of learning. Breaking barriers is Jill's best asset, she will not quit until the student has an understanding of the instrument or his/her voice.

The young and the older adults find that taking lessons with Jill has brought them to a place of realizing their potential. Successful stories include pre-school age through students who are retired. The length of time one studies depends on the student's practice and diligence. Many students have started with Jill in preschool or elementary school and have continued through high school and college. Several college age students wanted to improve their singing or instrumental skills so goals were set and met through Jill's successful teaching ability. Several students learn music theory and many students have learned song-writing and creating arrangements.

Many of Jill's students have become better musicians and a considerable number of students have chosen music professions for their careers. Multiple students have won contests, auditioned for parts in musicals, started local bands and have become songwriters and performers after taking lessons with Jill. One student has recently auditioned for American Idol and has made it through several auditions. Teaching a myriad of students from various places in the world who have come to the United States has been a great experience. The cultural differences makes the teaching of these students exciting since Jill learns about music in their own home countries. Some of the students are from China, Germany, Norway, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Colombia, Puerto Rico and many who moved to Florida from some other state in the U.S.A. What a joy it has been to learn to communicate with these students and to verify that music is a universal language. By special request Jill is available for online lessons through internet and devices as well as traveling to student locations when her schedule allows. Jill held the title "Steinway Pianos Concert and Artist Director" in Dallas TX in the 80's, working with Steinway artists and Dallas Symphony, Opera, Ballet and other events like planning pianos for Prince Charles' visit and many other concerts and events. Jill also performed in many Dallas venues as well as providing pianos for the Cowboys, the clubs, hotels, country clubs and museums including The Dallas Museum of Art.

" (Proverbs 15:22) It is Jill's belief that with her teaching qualifications and past record of success with student achievement and great experience studying with wonderful advisers, teaching YOU or YOUR CHILD will be one of success!

*** Lesson Details ***
Jill's teaching technique is flexible. Some students require a stern and strict approach while others seem to work best with more creative license. Jill is open to each student's needs. When booking lessons with Jill, one will find that the first thing she will do is find out more about the student's needs and desires to succeed in their chosen instrument. Meeting goals are important in music and in life!

Because of her flexible approach, method books vary depending on the student's need to succeed. Sometimes young students will need to review several beginning methods until their reading skills are achieved. For the young students, Jill teaches theory and gives the young students time during the lesson to explore musical symbols and try their hands at improvisation, rhythms, manuscripts and creativity.

Some students may desire to learn to play "by ear" or through improvisational skills. Jill is very good with improv and her song writing skills are strong. When a student desires to write music, Jill is there to help with questions about time signatures, note values, key signatures and transpositions.

Taking lessons with Jill is a journey that those who have tried have not had regrets. Several parents and past students would be happy to tell you how their talents and gifts improved after working with Jill for a few months. After three months of working together, Jill will know how to pursue the student's musical career. After 6 months the student will be able to play complete songs and have a sense of basic music theory. The hope is for the student to be confident of their instrument's abilities and to have a list of repertoire for upcoming events in the student's life.

Several of Jill's students have taken their skills, gifts and talents to the professional level. Students who have studied with Jill are professional music directors in high schools, middle schools, elementary schools, churches, soloists and some who are in school studying music as their major. My specialty in voice comes from years of lessons and performance experience. Including solo gigs, bands and service performances such as parties, weddings, funerals, organizational roles, skills, clubs, recordings, hotels, country clubs, churches, schools and much more. She uses many methods, handouts and books to bring out various ideas to learn to sing correctly. Jill takes each individual at his/her level and tries to improve breathing technique, posture, enunciation with style and phrasing, depending on the student's aspirations.

Jill plays most instruments including piano, guitar, bass guitar, band instruments, ukulele, banjo, dulcimer, drums, percussion, harmonica, trumpet, clarinet, recorder, mandolin and violin. My 15 year old daughter has had 3 lessons with Jill and we are truly enjoying her! She gives her a variety of useful exercises to strengthen her voice and breath. I already see much growth in her after just 3 lessons, AND my daughter's confidence is increasing with each lesson. Clarinet has been my main instrument since I was in 6th grade. I took private lessons in middle school all the way through college as a music major. I can work with students just getting started or more advanced students who need help with band music or solos.

I have a Master's in Music Technology from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and a Bachelor's in Music (Technology and Recording) from the University of Indianapolis.
I started on the piano when I was in elementary school. I began playing the clarinet, my primary instrument, in 6th grade. I then started playing the saxophone in 8th grade and started playing the flute in high school.
I also teach beginning trumpet and ukulele lessons. These are secondary instruments for me so I only teach beginners, but I can help you get started! I have played trumpet on my own off and on for years and I play a couple times a month with local ukulele groups.

I am interested in teaching you what you need and want to learn so that you achieve your dreams. Please note that I only take serious students who will practice at least 30 minutes every day or 35 a day 6 days a week at home. I would like you to keep a log of how much you practice. This will enable you to make progress through the curriculum as you will be a beginner for the first 3.3 years, an intermediate for the next 3.3 years, and then an advanced student for 3.3 years. I will give you assignments to do over the week, and the next week we will go over them, learn something new and get new assignments. It takes 10,000 hours of practice to become an expert!

My name is Stephanie, I am a teaching-artist from El Paso, Texas. I currently reside, perform and teach in the Boston and greater Boston area.

I am a recent graduate of The New England Conservatory of Music with my Masters in Saxophone Performance. I received my Bacherlors in Music Education from New Mexico State University.

I am devoted and dedicated to helping find each of my students strengths, weaknesses and style of learning. Once I have identified these traits, I am able to develop lessons and repertoire that helps each students become the most efficient learner and best musician they can be.

I pride myself in creating a fun and safe learning environment in which I establish a firm musical foundation for my students. Thank you for visiting my page! You've come to the right place. Over the past several years, I've helped dozens upon dozens of music students of all ages and skill levels improve their skills at playing saxophone, clarinet, and flute. Along with basic theory, tone production, music reading, and intonation, I teach jazz and beginning improvisation, concert band, blues, soul, and R&B.

My school-age students win chair placements, place well in auditions, and some win awards. Some examples: recently, one of my sax students won the M.J. Brown Family Performing Arts Music Award, and an 11-year-old flute student won both Most Improved Jazz Student and Outstanding Achievement in his orchestra class.

My adult learners have fun re-connecting with their instrument of choice. Most students have been with me for one to three years.

Students
thrive on structure and goals, and I have developed a unique approach to practicing that gets results. I teach all ages and skill levels to play saxophone, clarinet, and flute. I cover many styles, from concert band, to jazz, blues, soul, and R&B, theory, tone, articulation, and more. I am experienced with preschoolers to middle school-age children, high school and college ages, nervous adult beginners, and special needs students.

I recommend the following lesson structure:
• First-time beginners: one 30-minute lesson per week
• Older beginners to intermediate students: one 45 minute lesson per week
• Advanced students: 60 minutes once each week

My approach to lessons is to support a competition-free environment where every level of player can feel comfortable, have fun, and make fast and steady progress. Students are also encouraged to participate in all-ages jam sessions, and at our recitals.

I work from my home studio on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Centrally located in La Mesa, my studio is just a few minutes east of Qualcomm Stadium. Plenty of free parking, and parents are encouraged to sit in during lessons.

On Thursdays, I'm in my La Jolla studio on Girard at La Jolla Music.

My own teaching experience includes private post-secondary, SDSU’s College of Extended Studies, and I’ve facilitated and run woodwind master classes at Grossmont and Valhalla High Schools.

What impresses me about Dave is that he adds humor to the lessons, yet is still firm about getting the point, or lesson across to my son. My son enjoys the lessons and looks forward to seeing Dave. I highly recommend Dave as an instructor.

I've been teaching saxophone and clarinet privately for 10 years. I currently serve on faculty at the University of Central Missouri as Instructor of Saxophone, and teach saxophone and clarinet at the Kansas City School of Music. I am a Conn-Selmer endorsing artist. I hold music performance degrees from the Birmingham Conservatoire of Music (Bachelors), UK, and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Masters). I am currently completing my Doctorate in Music Performance at the University of Missouri Kansas City.

I have a Master degree in clarinet performance from USC. I teach students at all levels.
I have studied with some of the best clarinet teachers in the world and I have developed innovative and fun techniques that makes the process of learning clarinet very fun and easy.
I focus on the student needs like band music, orchestral music, solo clarinet music for ABRAM/CM test or competitions.
Some of my students have won prestigious competitions and won auditions to play in bands and orchestras in Los Angeles.

About Sérgio
Sérgio is a freelance musician in the Los Angeles area and the principal clarinet of the American Youth Symphony Orchestra. He performs regularly with orchestras such as Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, Debut Orchestra and Downy Symphony. He was selected to be a substitute for the New World Symphony Orchestra and Runner-up for the Richmond Symphony Orchestra. Lead by passion by motion pictures, he recorded for some movies and television shows such as the Netflix show “Chefs Table”. Sérgio demonstrates a great passion for new music.
Sérgio made appearances with the National Repertory Orchestra Festival and plays regularly with the Eastern Sierra Symphony Festival.

As a soloist he had the opportunity to perform a solo with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and the USC Symphony Orchestra. About Sérgio’s performance, Chad Lonski from the “
Daily Trojan Newspaper” (Los Angeles, CA) described his interpretation of the Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto stating that, “Coelho’s performance was superb, to say the least, showcasing the heights of clarinet proficiency and taking the clarinet to its limits.”

Recently Sérgio become a fellow of the “Latin Grammy Awards Foundation”.
Sérgio holds a Master of Music degree in Clarinet Performance from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

I am a former band teacher, teaching at public, private, catholic and montessori schools for over eight years. I graduated from VanderCook College of music with a Bachelors of Music Education.

Band students can expect to improve week to week in their technique. Every student has a different learning technique; I teach students to explore and open up to their potential through practice and dedication. I can help any student to play with confidence, and expression.

I teach band students of all different ages and experience levels. I studied woodwind instruments for 22 years, and concert flute for all of those years. I can teach students to read music and excel at theory.

As a professional flute players I frequently play with the College of Lake County band as well as summer bands around the area.

Katie works very well with my daughter. My daughter has come a long way since she started lessons and my family has noticed how well she plays. My daughter is excited about music and is always asking to play something for others because she wants to share her love of music and playing with everyone.

Katie has been my daughter's flute instructor for 3 years (one year as her band instructor and 2 years of private lessons). She is extremely professional, always communicates my daughter's progress, challenges her to improve, and makes the lessons a lot of fun. Hello!

I am a private music instructor specializing in woodwind instruments looking to take on clarinet, flute and saxophone students!

My lessons consist of a well balanced coverage of exercises (scales, note patterns, etudes, duets, major repertoire, etc) geared towards building a solid foundation in playing technique. This allows each student to be accurate and expressive with a sense of ease in their playing! Students of the studio are also thrown into the world of music! They are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, listen to music regularly, and attend masterclasses. The goal is not just to learn an instrument, but to also develop a life-long love and appreciation for music!

I believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy and be expressive on an instrument. It is miss instruction and a lack of passion in music education that allows students to become frustrated and bored, ultimately pushing them to quit their instruments.

My goal as a music educator is not only to teach the mechanics of an instrument, but to also inspire a life-long passion for music. Therefore I make a point to encourage students to explore all the music there is to be had in their surrounding environment! This includes attending concerts, listening to great recordings and savoring all the music that our modern-day media has to offer!

With this consistent musical exploration I teach a thorough curriculum of scales, exercises, duets and standard solo repertoire pieces. Surrounding all this is a foundation in music theory. This pedagogi
cal study will enable a fun and easy experience when students pick up their instruments to perform music!

In addition to this private study I strongly encourage my students to pursue extra-curricular musical activities outside their school music programs. This includes auditioning for honor bands/orchestras, chamber music, music competitions and effective musical examinations such as Certificate of Merit. I believe a constant setting and achieving of goals is the foundation of growth in anything we do and music is no exception.

I am proud to say that the majority of my students develop great interest in classical music, fueling them to push past their difficulties and achieve a high standard of musical performance!

Before beginning lessons with Carter, playing clarinet was something that I dreaded to do to say the least. Once I started lessons I experienced exponential growth in my playing abilities and began to enjoy the instrument. Fast forward 6 years, because of the help of Carter, I have the opportunity to perform in prestigious youth groups, and have experiences that I wouldn't have had otherwise. Because of my lessons I have developed a love for playing clarinet and music that I wouldn't have had without Carter. -Matthew 6 years

Carter has been instrumental in my son's growth and development as a musician and clarinetist.
