Ear Training is included in all music lessons. Learn to recognize and then predict tonal patterns making you a more accurate player and vocalist.

Ear Training is a topic that I am thrilled to teach! So what exactly are we training our ears for and how to we do it!?

We are training the ears to recognize the notes they are hearing, just like interpreting a language. People with mastery of this skill are able to hear a chord and immediately tell you if it is major or minor.

In my class I will be teaching Solfege, the method that has become the standard for most conservatories and colleges.

Ear training is a critical and valuable music skill to help one develop into a well rounded musician. I teach ear training using the classical training methods I learned at Juilliard. We study intervals, chords, scales, and work on singing simple melodies. I use fixed do solfeggio.

As a musician who possesses "perfect pitch", I understand intimately how the human brain processes musical intelligence and can help students become more proficient at identifying intervals, chords, scales, modes, meters, and rhythms.

I am a professional musician teaching and performing regularly in the Los Angeles area. While studying at CSUN I took an advanced level ear training class taught by the aural skills master Gary Pratt, and received an 4.0. I have since been mastering my own aural skills and would love to share my knowledge with anyone interested in improving their ears!
