I credit my first piano teacher for giving me the courage, technique, and love of music that has made me into the performer and teacher that I am today. This passion has led me to receive a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan, and I recently received my Master’s degree in classical vocal performance at the Mannes School of Music. My goal now is to inspire my students with the same fundamentals and joy for music that my first teacher instilled in me.

Beginning students of all ages are welcome, and styles that I teach include classical and pop. Lessons will focus on technique, reading, ear training, and basic music theory. Everyone is unique and has their own learning style, and I tailor my teaching to each individual. I love to helping others understand music better, play the piano, and achieve their personal musical goals. It would be a pleasure to help you learn!

Isabel was a fantastic match for both of our kids
They are at totally different skill levels and their personalities are completely different too. She meshed with both of them and they adored working with her - their voices/performances improved tremendously as well as it being great for their confidence. I highly recommend working with her and she is welcome to give you my contact info for a phone reference as well

Isbael has been very helpful in teaching me the basics. She is extremely positive and patient. I couldn't ask for a better vocal instructor.

I'm an advanced singer who has worked with Isabel on a few art songs, and she taught me so much! She has a natural knack for helping with song interpretation, and her focus on staying vocally healthy really helped me stay on track. Totally recommend!

Now is the perfect time to begin! Classes are structured so that students gain experience in the genre of their choice, while also building a strong foundation rooted in classical technique. I have taught and coached voice for many years and am available for students of all experience levels and ages! I am also available to teach fundamentals that are often required for vocal success, such as, beginner piano, music theory, and ear training.

I am a firm believer in asking questions, for myself and my students, so that we can come to a better understanding of what techniques work best for you in each lesson and track your progress from week to week.

About Leslie

My name is Leslie and I believe each person has a story to tell and a unique voice to tell it with. Whatever your experience level, I am happy to work with you in identifying and pursuing your goals in music. It's been difficult to schedule the first lesson with Leslie but finally locked down a day/time after about two weeks of trying.

An hour before the first lesson today, she called to cancel and let me know that she “accepted a job yesterday so will no longer be giving lessons".

Singing is the only instrument you are born with, and it is a whole body activity! Together, we will shape the path for your success in becoming a vocalist. I have been teaching singing for nearly 10 years, and my students have gone on to receive scholarship entry into the Chicago Music Academy, Chicago High School for the Arts, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and even Concordia University, in addition to receiving numerous awards at various music competitions.

In the beginning lessons, we will focus on finding your comfortable singing range, learning vocal warm-ups, and different stretches to help relax for singing. As you progress, we will learn about vowel shapes, and music reading. It is very important that every musician, no matter what instrument, has a good background in music reading! For young singers, I will start with the Disney Solo Book for Kids and/or Folk Songs for the Solo Singer. For more advanced students, I will use various books, including The First Book of ...

My teaching career began while I was a Conservatory graduate student. Teaching and performing are complementary aspects of being a musician. Instructing others provides a deeper, more thorough understanding of my own approach to playing. Several decades of performing in professional orchestras and chamber music ensembles grants a life time of practical experience to share with my students.

While the serious pursuit of a professional level of accomplishment on two diverse instruments such as the violin and the flute is unusual, the idiomatic characteristics of each one have given me unique insights into other. Over the years I have discovered concepts that have enhanced my performing and teaching of both. These ideas have allowed me to present an integrated approach and perspective for both instruments that not many other teachers would have.

My pedagogical philosophy provides the aspiring student with a greater understanding of the other instruments with whom they will ...

Jamie is one of those stellar people who is good at everything she does. She is a first rate teacher, performing violinist, Flutist and scholar. I recommend her without any hesitation.
Diana
I was in my mid 50s at the time I began violin lesson with Jami. As an adult beginner, I was apprehensive about learning the violin. I had no familiarity with the violin or string instruments and I also had concerns regarding scheduling lessons due to an often erratic work schedule and a busy family life. Several violin teachers I had contacted prior to Jami were unwilling to teach an adult beginner.

Jami was an amazing teacher! She was personable, encouraging and alleviated all my fears and concerns. She understood my busy schedule and was very accommodating. The lessons were more relaxed than I had initially anticipated. It did not take long before I began feeling comfortable handling the violin and bow. Through Jami, I also learned a great deal about the history and construction of the violin, music for the violin and music theory.

Jami taught a mix of Suzuki, scales and multiple technique and method books; all complementing each other on my path to progressing as a violinist. As an adult, it was nice to gradually incorporate more tunes a mature adult would appreciate playing while continuing to build on the basics. After the first few months, I particularly enjoyed learning how to play violin duets with Jami or having Jami accompany me on the piano. I always left my lessons with a feeling of accomplishment.

I only ceased lessons due to Jami relocating, but I am looking forward to online lessons once I am more technologically capable of doing so. You will not be disappointed if choosing Jami as a teacher!

I have worked with Jami Bale for over ten years. She has deep knowledge of both violin and flute, and has profound skills in chamber music. Ms. Bale is demanding yet very compassionate teacher, her students excel at a fast pace and make wonderful professional and amateur musicians.
Ms. Bale was an irreplaceable member of the Chamber Music Seminar faculty and Pittsburgh Youth Concert Orchestra.
Whether the student needs to only keep up with the school curriculum or place a top chair in a youth orchestra, Ms. Bale will be there for you every inch of the way.

From age seven, I have performed piano at concerts and piano competitions, playing solo, in small groups or with orchestra. Studying piano performance at the School for Talented Children for eleven years and later at music conservatory, I was groomed to perform piano on stage. In short, I have the personal experience that I apply to teaching piano performance. Specifically, I teach my students how to memorize music pieces, how to develop proper phrasing and how to convey emotion and beauty of a particular piece to the audience. I also help students who want to obtain certificates from Associated Board of Royal School of Music (ABRSM) or Trinity College London (TCL) to excel in these examinations.

About Ruth

I have played piano since I was six years old, when my parents enrolled me in my first music classes. I continued my music education while going to elementary, middle, and high school. Ultimately, I graduated with a Master's Degree in Music from Butler University, located in Indianapolis, Indiana

Ruth has been a wonderful teacher for my 12 year old son Vivek for the last 3 years in Princeton. She made learning piano a truly enjoyable experience for him and always teaches with patience and kindness. We are planning to move overseas and hope to switch to online lessons so he can continue to learn from Ms Ruth!

I have been with Ruth for about 4 months but I am very happy to say that her dedication and attention to detail has given me the impetus to want to keep learning encouraged by her thorough experience. She is a great teacher.

Ruth is a fantastic piano teacher. She is very patient and tailors her instruction to the age and capabilities of each child. Our 6yo daughter has been taking lessons with Ruth for a year and loves it, and we've really been amazed at how quickly she has advanced. Ruth is a perfect blend of kindness, patience, and a rigorous and strong training program. We are always impressed with the quality of the performances of Ruth's students (whose ages range from about 5-16) at the annual concert that she organizes. Ruth also teaches adults! If you are in the Princeton/Plainsboro area and looking for piano lessons, we highly recommend Ruth!

I can't recommend lessons with Tori highly enough!

I've been obsessed with oil painting, and every kind of 2D visual art, for as long as I can remember, but I never really believed in myself to do it until I worked with Tori.

My drawing, painting, and even my 3D work progressed more, and more quickly, working with Tori than they had in years

Thank you Tori!!!!

My three boys (ages 11-15) loved working with Tori. We still have the block print-making pieces, paintings and charcoal drawings displayed in our kitchen. Their favorite project was creating plaster casts of their own faces. Tori is very thoughtful, patient and has a great zen energy. I highly recommend Tori!

How Long Does it Take to Learn How to Play Guitar?

Do you want to start guitar lessons but you're wondering how long it will take you to see the payoff? Or, have you already started and you're wondering if you're really making progress? Guitar teacher Peter M. shares just how long it really takes most students to learn guitar... This age old question has been asked by nearly all of my students for as long as I’ve been teaching: how long will it take to learn how to play guitar? Will it take a week? A month? A year? Longer?
