My math lessons are unique in that I develop a connection with students that allow them to feel comfortable telling me "I don't understand." This is often the hardest barrier that parents believe their child has when being taught, and I'm often warned by the parent before I arrive that the student fakes understanding around his teachers or other tutors. But being 23 years old allows me to be a teacher and a friend at the same time and I feel that this smaller age gap between student and teacher is what makes them feel comfortable opening up to me, which they do with ease. After tutoring over 30 students in math ranging from middle school arithmetic to college calculus 2 to adults taking qualifying exams, I have been confidently able to identify exactly how the students are processing their math assignments just by watching them try to solve a single problem. After that, I just focus on correcting their way of thinking. My goal of tutoring is for the students to not need my help ...

I have been teaching piano lessons for 10+ years and have a passion for studying the greats who came before me. As an instructor, it is my job to guide students and supply them with the requisite literature at the appropriate stage of development. A student of the piano is foremost a student of music; and a general familiarity with the works of the masters, e.g. Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, is essential.
It is important to me that my students develop a strong foundation as this is necessary for growth in ones ability to play well. During the lesson, a student can anticipate a focus on technique and listening skills while learning to play great music.
I offer one-hour piano lessons once or twice weekly, either in person or virtually. Students are expected to practice daily for a minimum amount of time that is determined. Depending on the age of the student, half hour lessons may be considered and you are welcome to reach out to me to discuss.

I was very impressed with how open she was to setting goals and having something prepared for our first meeting."
I have 3 girls in High school (10th, 10th, and 9th) . they had been struggling in math since I can remember. I didn't think I could afford tutoring. They each had an 'F' in math.
I found Colin, and what a blessing! In just THREE short weeks Colin had my girls understanding HIS lessons, their CLASSROOM lessons and PASSING their exams! They brought their grades up too!
The best thing I can compare his tutoring to is: an adult teaching a kid to ride a bike...
He didn't expect them to just ride a bike. he took the proper steps and taught my girls about the bike parts, the way the bike functions, how they all work together, how to properly sit and pedal, and he even held them up until they understood it completely and eventually were able to ride the bike on their own.
Thank you Colin! for putting my girls back on track with math!"
